"Of all the camps in the area to choose from I highly recommend staying at this particular one. The manager Wang Shiquan and his team are incredibly good hosts and made sure I had everything I needed. As a foreigner I felt incredibly welcomed and included. The tents are of really good quality and very roomy. The beds are really comfy too. The activities are also plentiful with quad biking, camel riding and sandboarding. Shapotou is very close by too with much to do. Ningxia is definitely an underrated province and I highly recommend anyone to come and see it and experience the kind hospitality of it's people from this camp. Thank you for a great stay."

"The butler will contact guests a day in advance. The hotel is located inside the Tonghu Scenic Area, and the room rate includes admission tickets. This is the only hotel in the scenic area, so there are no outsiders. The hotel's front desk is at the main entrance of the Tonghu Grassland Scenic Area, with free parking. There's a 4x4 shuttle service within the area. The Starlight Restaurant is right next to the tent area, making dining convenient. It usually includes a buffet breakfast and a buffet hot pot dinner with good quality ingredients and a wide selection. There's a shuttle service to the bonfire party, which features a high-quality equestrian show, not just simple amateur entertainment. The rooms are tents. Our room type only had a password lock on the tent zipper, but since there are no outsiders in the park, it felt safe. Soundproofing isn't great because it's a warm tent. Each room type has a private bathroom and toilet, also in an attached tent form. Amenities are complete, including Crocs-style slippers and body lotion. The stand-up air conditioner heats and cools quickly, and there's also an oil-filled radiator for heating. It's hot during the day and cold at night, so you need to use both heating and cooling throughout the day. It's dry, so you can hang a wet towel. There are sand toys and sand sleds everywhere outside the room, and sand dunes right outside your tent, so you can play freely. Everything you could need is provided. If you stay for multiple nights, you'll need to drive quite a distance to visit other places during the day. Actually, one night and the next morning are sufficient. There are plenty of daytime activities, making it suitable for families with children. However, adults can use the daytime for excursions."

"This self-guided desert tour is absolutely amazing! The desert scenery is majestic and magnificent, and the afterglow of the setting sun shines on the golden sand dunes, as beautiful as a painting. The campsite facilities are complete and the staff are warm and caring. The food is diverse, the roasted whole lamb is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, and the aroma is overflowing. Camel riding, sand boarding and other activities are super exciting. Moreover, the self-guided itinerary is free and allows you to deeply experience the charm of the desert. Highly recommended, looking forward to coming again next time!"

"It was a very pleasant desert camping experience. We could go sandboarding right at the hotel, and there was a bonfire party and fireworks in the evening. We also had grilled lamb skewers, and the service was warm and attentive. The only downside was that the public showers weren't very convenient, which I wasn't used to."

"Exceeded all expectations! The camp's location is fantastic, with convenient transfers to and from the desert entrance. The tents are well-equipped and very clean, with electricity and good Wi-Fi. The communal bathrooms have plenty of hot water and are spotless. Unlimited sandboarding with boards provided kept both adults and kids thoroughly entertained. The bonfire party had an incredible atmosphere, and the fireworks display was absolutely stunning. The staff were warm and attentive throughout. We had such a relaxing and unforgettable night in the desert. Highly recommend!"

"Staying at a desert hotel for the first time was quite an experience! I thought the courtyard rooms would open up to a desert view, but the 'courtyard' was more like a small balcony, which felt a bit pointless. You have to go to the rooftop for a view. Only the hot spring rooms offer a direct desert view from the door. The room itself was a bit dim but overall nice, and the bedding was comfortable. What I disliked was the bathtub in the living room with no privacy whatsoever. It's really just for show because you can't use it with family or friends around. It would have been better if it wasn't there at all; the pictures when booking didn't make this clear. The hotel's Chinese restaurant had excellent food, though a bit pricey, which is understandable considering it's in the desert. Breakfast would be fine if it were complimentary, but on the first day, we paid an extra 260 for my child's portion, and there wasn't much good to eat – she just had a glass of milk and two cookies. The next day, I learned my lesson: a glass of milk at the bar was only 40-50, and ordering food from the Chinese restaurant separately still came out to less than 200. The goji berry latte at the bar was delicious! The service was great, every staff member was enthusiastic and dedicated."

The location was super convenient too; it took less than half an hour by taxi to get to the Shapotou Scenic Area. In the evenings, I could unwind at the gym. The free laundry room was a lifesaver for travelers needing to refresh their clothes, and the printer in the lobby's business center was free to use. I even discovered that the room's power outlets had built-in USB ports! I've already recommended this hotel to all my friends planning a trip to Zhongwei. Whether for a business trip or a desert adventure, it's the perfect choice!"
