Xieng Thong Retreat Hotel (Luang Prabang Old Town - Central Sisavangvong Road Branch)

Το Xieng Thong Retreat Hotel (Luang Prabang Old Town - Central Sisavangvong Road Branch) βρίσκεται στο Λουάνγκ Πραμπάνγκ και αποτελεί μια εξαιρετική βάση για να εξερευνήσετε την πόλη. "My stay here was not great but at the same time, not terrible. I think the property would benefit from some maintenance, upgrading, and more thorough cleaning. The room was functional and AC worked fine, but there were noticeable signs of wear and tear. The walls could do with repainting, and I found dust and cobwebs in parts of the room, which made it feel like housekeeping standards could be improved. One of the biggest drawbacks was how thin the walls are. Noise travels very easily, and I could hear almost everything happening in the neighbouring rooms, including conversations, showers running, and toilets flushing. This made it difficult to relax fully at times. There was also a noticeable gap around the door, which meant insects could get into the room. I could actually see mosquitoes coming through the gap at times, which was frustrating and made it harder to keep them out. Communication could also be challenging on occasion due to the language barrier. While this is understandable in a non-English-speaking country, it sometimes made things less straightforward. Thankfully, Google Translate helped bridge the gap. My booking included breakfast, which was somewhat disappointing. On the day I managed to have breakfast at the hotel, there was no choice or variety available. The meal consisted of a bowl of noodle soup and a boiled egg, with no alternative options or buffet selection. That said, my stay wasn't terrible, and the hotel served its purpose for somewhere to sleep."

"The room was clean and tidy, with powerful air conditioning and free breakfast. It's also just a 10-minute walk to Walking Street. The staff were really helpful; they even booked us a taxi to the high-speed rail station when we left. Luang Prabang is wonderful, I'll definitely be back!"

"We stayed a total of 7 nights at this wonderful hotel. Let's just say the staff, from the incredible reception staff, the awesome cleaners and those behind the scenes are what really made our stay memorable, they were kind, very attentive, nothing was too much trouble and treated us almost like family. The room was very comfortable with one of the best beds we have had during our time in Asia. Being right next to the pool was an added bonus for a morning coffee or afternoon coldy. Breakfast was a good selection with fruit smoothies on offer if requested. Location wise it was just a short walk to the night market, etc. or go the other way to Phonsy Market, where the locals go. Would highly recommend and will stay again when next in Luang Prabang. Thank you guys."

"Great location in the heart of the Old Town — steps away from historic temples and in a relaxing spot overlooking the Nam Khan River, providing a nice balance of convenience and calm. The property has a traditional building design that feels authentic and fits seamlessly into the local setting. I particularly enjoyed the open restaurant area, which is a great place to take in the surroundings. The rooms themselves are striking and accented with classic woodwork. What truly sets this stay apart, however, is the hospitality. The entire team is wonderful, but I want to give a special shout-out to Airry, Thank, and Vanh at the front desk. Their warmth, friendliness, and professionalism made a lasting impression and made me feel right at home from the moment I arrived. Overall, it was a fantastic experience. I’m already eager to return!"

"I stayed in a pond-view room, and the overall atmosphere was truly fantastic! The hotel's garden scenery is exceptionally serene. Opening the window, you're greeted with a direct view of the pond and greenery – surrounded by nature, it's tranquil and healing, perfect for photos. Sitting by the window in the morning, enjoying the garden view, was incredibly relaxing. The only slight drawback is that the room's cleanliness details could be improved. Being by the pond with lots of greenery, tiny ants occasionally appeared on the bed, which somewhat affected the experience at night. Overall, the scenery and environment are a huge plus, but I hope the hotel can address the issue of mosquitoes and ants with thorough pest control, otherwise, the experience of staying in a room with such a beautiful view is significantly diminished."

"A delightful French Indochinese boutique hotel. One of my favorite hotels I've stayed in so far. It's nestled on the street between the Mekong River and the 'foreigner street' (night market area), offering a quiet retreat while being conveniently located for everything. They even have free bicycles! As soon as you enter the lobby, you're greeted by a refreshing Southeast Asian ambiance and a welcome drink. The room's balcony is perfect for sunbathing, reading, or enjoying a small drink. Breakfast offers both a buffet and à la carte options, combining Lao flavors with Chinese and Western dishes."

"1. The front desk staff provided excellent service. The young man spoke fluent English, Chinese, and Lao. The hotel's location is great, within walking distance to the foreign street. 2. They can help arrange various transportation services at very reasonable prices. 3. Initially, I saw low sales on Ctrip and booked with a 'let's try' attitude. I found that there were many Westerners staying here, and the hotel's environment and hygiene were excellent, significantly enhancing the overall experience of the trip. Most importantly, the price was very affordable. I rarely write reviews actively, but this deserves a big thumbs up. I hope the hotel's business continues to thrive and prosper!"

"The airport pick-up service was exceptional, offering cold towels, iced freshly squeezed juice, dried fruit, and iced water. Check-in at the front desk was smooth and very welcoming, complete with a welcome drink, snacks, and fruit. Housekeeping was impeccable, with no untouched corners, and they even offered turn-down service in the evenings. Breakfast was à la carte; every dish was delicious and beautifully presented. The hotel provides a convenient shuttle service that takes you anywhere. They even offer special pick-ups from the city center for your return, which is incredibly thoughtful. Every single staff member demonstrated an exceptionally high level of service and enthusiasm, going above and beyond to resolve any issues guests might have. As my train ticket to Vang Vieng was for after 6 PM, the hotel graciously offered a complimentary late check-out and even provided a ride to the train station. Truly an all-around perfect experience! The hotel's swimming pool is stunning, overlooking Mount Phousi, and I enjoyed swimming there for three consecutive days. The garden is beautiful and well-designed. Staying here is absolutely the best choice for a trip to Luang Prabang. Worth revisiting!"

"New and very nice hotel, 5 min drive to the center. Hotel provides free limousine to drive you to and from center - very convinient. Very clean rooms and comfortable beds , large rooms. Great swimming pool and Gym. Very accommodating manager, tries to fulfil all your wishes. Nice breakfast till 10:30 and food is convenient also for Europeans. The only minus is that the SPA services are quite expensive - 120 USD for a massage, while in the town you can get a good massage for 20 USD, thus the difference seemed to me a bit off."

The room exceeded my expectations – living amidst the rice paddies was incredibly relaxing. The decor was beautiful, comfortable, and had a fresh, natural vibe that truly allowed for a full rest of body and mind. The shuttle bus to the city center isn't very frequent, so it might not be ideal for those who prefer a lively and convenient location. Mina at the front desk was very efficient and incredibly helpful, and her English was fluent, which was a big plus! The breakfast quality and variety were also great. Highly recommended!

JPTAMAKI.
There was a discrepancy between the photos shown online and the actual room facilities. I chose this hotel after comparing it with two or three other properties, and the photos were a major factor in my decision, so this was very disappointing. I requested that the misleading photos be removed. The room change was only within the same category, and even though it was off-season with vacant rooms available, I was still assigned the smallest room. If other rooms in the same category were available, I feel there could have been more consideration. That level of service was disappointing. A silk bathrobe was provided, but personally I prefer cotton. The amenities included a toothbrush, shower cap, cotton swabs, hairdryer, shampoo, soap, and body lotion. There was more than enough complimentary drinking water provided, which was reassuring. There was no minibar, but finding a French press and coffee beans in the room was a small but pleasant surprise. I really wish there had been mosquito coils or insect repellent on the balcony. The breakfast was quite good, but it was exactly the same every day, so I think staying more than three nights would become repetitive. The room furnishings and overall atmosphere were beautiful. It has a unique charm and character that newer architecture simply cannot replicate. Bicycles are available free of charge, including both regular bicycles and mountain bikes. I walked to the old town once, and it took about 15 minutes. It’s walkable, but if location is a priority, staying in the old town would be a better choice. Also, unlike many other 4-star or higher hotels, there was no shuttle service to the old town. Since I rented a motorbike, it wasn’t a problem for me, but with the rainy season approaching, this could become inconvenient. I’m glad I stayed once, but I wouldn’t return.

Chinese travelers, this is the place to stay! I booked this hotel blindly, and the front desk staff, who spoke some Chinese, was incredibly friendly. The courtyard is lovely, and there's a subtle, pleasant scent in the room – very comfortable. Breakfast was especially fantastic, with six different set meals to choose from (see pic). For less than 300, the service and cleanliness are better than what you'd find in a 500+ hotel back home in China. It's truly amazing value! It's also very close to the Foreigners Street and Wat Xieng Thong, just a few hundred meters walk.

You come to this hotel to stay at the Explorer Tents. They really are a one-of-a-kind accommodation experience. Air-conditioning in the tents is very powerful, so no problem at all. The toilet area is outside but it's the glamping experience. There are two pools, one at the spa which is just magical and one Main infinity pool. There is a sauna at the spa centre, all free for use. There is a so-called beach where you can actually stand at the banks of the Namkhan River. There are other outdoor activities dotted around. The breakfast options are small but should be enough to satisfy. The location is very secluded, so when you do get to the hotel, you won't be coming out to the old Town, despite having free shuttle services. I opted to book a transfer with the hotel to the airport as I didn't want to risk missing my flight, with no LOCA cars willing to enter this area. I stayed at Explorer Tent No. 2

There were some amenities which were a bit difficult to use such as the shower. But overall great room.

Facilities: The room was clean and tidy, especially the bedding which was very comfortable. Toiletries were complete. Environment: The pool downstairs was cleaned daily, the water was well-filtered and had no strange odors. The distant scenery was pleasant. Service: The staff spoke Chinese, and arranging transportation was very convenient. Breakfast was plentiful.

Luang Prabang was an unexpected surprise! I'd like to praise the hotel – it's lovely, with a French style, and excellent value for money! The front desk staff speak Chinese, which made me feel safe and secure in a foreign land. It's conveniently located, within walking distance to the night market and morning market, just 100 meters from the fountain, and close to Mount Phousi. I even saw the morning alms giving right outside the hotel. A delightful trip! Highly recommended!

Decent Stay with a Few Trade-Offs The hotel is in an okay location—about a 5-minute drive from the Mekong River and its main attractions. There aren’t many restaurants nearby, but one unique experience is the alms-giving ceremony in the early morning around 5:30 AM. Since there’s a temple close by, you can watch the monks walk by right outside the hotel. The rooms are quite spacious and cleaned daily. They come with free Wi-Fi and air conditioning, which is a plus. The hotel also offers complimentary bikes for guests, making it easier to get around. However, the rooms are not soundproof. If you’re in the main building, expect to hear other guests having meals or moving around throughout the day. The noise can be an issue, especially in the mornings. Also, while the staff is helpful, the lack of nearby dining options or attractions means you’ll likely need to travel a bit for food and entertainment. Overall, it’s a comfortable stay if you’re okay with some noise and don’t mind venturing out for meals and activities.
