"This was a huge disappointment. We booked 3 nights but didn't stay at all...The bathroom was moldy. No drain cover in the shower. My wife said she got a shock when she touched the shower tap with wet hands. There are boats screaming past 5 meters from the building every minute. I explained that my wife did not want to stay more than 1 night to the owner and my wife explained to the receptionist. The owner called his receptionist on a mobile phone losing his mind. Maybe not realising he is on speaker. He made a comment that people who don't speak Spanish should not come to Panama. I live in Costa Rica and my wife is Spanish speaking so she clearly understood the owners derogatory remarks. At this point we no longer wanted to stay even the one night. I cancelled on bookings.com at the request of the receptionist and it said no charge but the hotel refused to refund the payment we made for one night. The receptionist told me wife that the owner installed cameras in the rooms? The staff were nice but seemed to fear the owner. Who knows but glad to escape. Let's see what bookings.com does about it. After this experience I read some of the owners replies to negative reviews. It's the exact same negative attitude we received. This owner is not interested in what his guests have to say. The only revenue this place can generate is from tourists so treat people with respect"

"Our stay at Bocas Beachfront Lodge exceeded every expectation. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed by the friendly and attentive staff, who genuinely went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. The location is absolutely beautiful. Waking up to the ocean every morning and being just steps from the beach made for a relaxing and unforgettable experience. The property has a peaceful, laid-back atmosphere that perfectly captures the charm of Bocas del Toro. Our room was clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed, with everything we needed for a relaxing stay. It was the perfect place to unwind after a day of exploring the islands. If you're interested in surfing, this is an excellent place to stay. The lodge is conveniently located near some of the area's best surf breaks, making it easy to get out on the water while still enjoying a comfortable and relaxing home base. What truly made this place special, though, was the hospitality. The owners and staff created an atmosphere that felt warm, personal, and welcoming, making us feel more like guests in a home than visitors at a hotel. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend Bocas Beachfront Lodge to anyone visiting Bocas del Toro. It was the perfect combination of beautiful scenery, outstanding hospitality and a relaxing island experience."

Casa Acuario Boutique Hotel ★★★

"Casa Acuario is located in Isla Carenero, which is a one minute, $1.00 water taxi ride. Owners Mandy and JP have done a lot with this beautiful and romantic property overlooking the Caribbean ocean. You can literally jump off your deck into the ocean and enjoy some excellent snorkeling underneath and around the over the water hotel! The rooms are large and beautifully appointed with lots of wood, nice beds and bedding, lovely furniture, TV, good Wi-Fi, fresh drinking water and wonderful soaps and shampoos. Each room has its own lovely deck/balcony with a table and chairs and a hammock where you can relax and watch the boats go by. There are also rafts and surfboards and games to enjoy as guests. Casa Acuario has delicious breakfast offerings in the morning and they offer snacks and juices and beers and even a small gift area which is all done through the honor system. A special shout out goes to Gabriel, who was both delightful and accommodating. Their sweet gentle doggies on the property that make the place feel more like home. There are several restaurants within a short walking distance such as Bibi's on the beach, leaf-eaters, a little Mexican taco and quesadilla stand, and more. Only a short distance away is the Panama Dive School Bocas Del Toro where you can go on scuba diving excursions. We have been to Casa Acuario multiple times and would definitely recommend it to others looking for a special and memorable experience."
