Huge thanks to the front desk attendant for upgrading us to a hot spring room! We were so pleasantly surprised when we walked in. The floor-to-ceiling windows offered a breathtaking view of the Yalu River and distant mountains, just like a traditional Chinese painting. Waking up early, I got to watch the stunning sunrise from the room, which really boosted my mood. The room's details were thoughtfully designed, and it was spotlessly clean. The floor-to-ceiling windows even had narrow side vents that could be opened, letting in a refreshing breeze from the river. All the staff, including the doorman, front desk, and the lovely Korean staff in the breakfast restaurant, were incredibly friendly and welcoming. For breakfast, they had options like red soup sea cucumber noodles and chicken soup abalone noodles, Swiss rolls, and fresh Dandong strawberries and blueberries. The food and fruit were all of excellent quality – definitely a great choice.

The hotel's location is excellent; everything else was perfect, aside from not having a river view. It's just a three to five-minute walk to Duanqiao Bridge, and not far from Gaoli Street and Andong Old Street—a taxi ride costs only six yuan. We booked Family Room A, which came with a bathtub and a tent that our child loved. The room was very kid-friendly, with corner protectors and a step stool. The hotel breakfast was decent, not amazing, but more than enough for families with children. The only downside was that the corner protectors kept falling off because they weren't sticky enough. I also suggest they could offer complimentary fruit daily, like some other hotels do.

Hotel location is very good, convenient to travel, the surrounding facilities are also complete. The room is particularly spacious, clean and tidy, the lighting and ventilation are good, the bedding is soft and comfortable, and the sleep is particularly stable. The bathroom amenities are complete, the hot water is sufficient, and the washing is very convenient.
The front desk service is warm and thoughtful, check-in and check-out are very fast and efficient, there are questions and inquiries patiently, and the attitude is particularly good. The rooms are cleaned very meticulously, the environment is quiet and not noisy, and the overall atmosphere is warm and comfortable.

***WWJThis was my first time experiencing a guesthouse like this, and as far as the accommodation itself, 'Chuhe' left very little to complain about. The room was clean, spacious, bright, and featured a modern design.
However, the self-check-in process – with no external signage, no front desk inside, and no staff present – is likely something many people haven't experienced before, or it might not be for everyone.
First, it was difficult to find. Asking locals for directions based on the address and building number was useless; they had no idea where the entrance was! I had to contact them via phone, and they remotely guided me to the location (a process where the owner knew exactly what was going on, but the guest was clueless, making it time-consuming and inefficient). Then, they instructed me on how to operate the elevator, enter the main door, and get into the room. If I had arrived at night, in bad weather, or with a lot of luggage, it would have been even more of a hassle. I wasn't aware of 'Chuhe's' setup when I booked, so I tried to find it the traditional way, to no avail. Luckily, my companion had a similar experience before, so the delay was minimal.
Given that this is a new concept, guests need time to adapt and decide if it's for them. Perhaps it would be helpful to clearly state this on the booking page and provide simple instructions or clarifications. This would allow guests to assess if it's suitable for them and book with a clear understanding.
One warning: the sharp corners of the wooden bed frame under the mattress are quite pointed. I already scraped my shin on it. They should really add corner protectors!

LLoves TravelTo be frank initially we weren’t too impressed with this hotel. For the same price category in other towns in Dongbei we were given much better rooms.
But that changed when we met the boss. He was all politeness, professionalism & he nailed the service attitude perfectly. First he offered us a half day Dandong tour at a reasonable price. He took care of all the related arrangements including taking us for a quick lunch. In the evening we happened by the barbecue stall he was manning & had a meal there. The next morning he helped us with our luggage, suggested a good place for breakfast & then called a taxi for us. His attention to details was meticulous.
But what eventually made him stand out from the rest:
In his haste to check out my partner had neglected to take his wallet from the desk where it was hidden among all the paraphernalia. Failing to contact us via WeChat the boss rushed to the railway station in his motorbike just to return us the missing wallet. He truly went above & beyond his duty & for that we are infinitely grateful to him. In conclusion should you ever visit Dandong do yourself a favour. Let this remarkable man take care of you. You will appreciate his genuine warm & sincere hospitality.
And yes, the location of this hotel is superb. The popular Broken Bridge tourist attraction is just metres away.

GGuest UserThe environment is quiet, the service is excellent, and the hygiene is top-notch! I arrived on the 24th, right in the middle of a heavy downpour. There were no dinner options nearby, so the hotel specially prepared free bento boxes for us 🍱. As someone who travels frequently for work and stays in many hotels, this kind of warm and thoughtful service is truly commendable!

RRudyThe hotel is very close to the railway station, 10 min walk to the promenade, Broken Bridge and Piers, there’s a small park next to the hotel with dancing fountains and illuminated street at night ( looks wow!), easy to reach restaurants, stores and shops, where you can buy goods produced in DPRK. Before talking to the receptionist , better get ready your phone translator if you’re not fluent in Chinese, they didn’t seem very friendly and hospitable, the house keeping lady was more hello-hi and smiling, helped me to find the dashboard in my room to switch the lights:). By the way , the toilet surprised me with warm mode and some more functions you’ll check by yourself ( especially ladies:)). Breakfast….even for Chinese locals and hotel rating it looked poor and not delicious.Perhaps, it’s only my opinion, but I was disappointed and left the hotel restaurant half hungry.The hotel room is quite cozy and spacious, the mattress is not soft , but comfy for sleeping.Recommend it for short stay, 2-3 days, but for budget travelers, it’s not the option. Happy journey!

GGuest UserTraveling during the May Day holiday, the hotel is clean and tidy, the service is warm, and snacks are given in the afternoon. The location is excellent and it is very close to the train station. I will choose here next time!

GGuest UserThis hotel was perfect. Walking distance from everything, the staff were extremely friendly, and the room was clean and nice. The only thing I can think of was that my tv didn’t work, but that could have been my fault because I never asked for help with it.

PPhillippe-BThe triangular hut is very novel. It is fully equipped and clean. The only drawback is that the water in the bathroom is slow and water accumulates easily.
The environment is very natural, there is a stream next to the room, and the water is very clear.
The only drawback is that the park has not yet been completed, the price is a bit high, and there are a lot of mosquitoes.
The service staff are very enthusiastic and kind. Although the breakfast is simple, it tastes good and is clean.

GGuest UserI recently stayed at this hostel and had an amazing experience from start to finish. The atmosphere was welcoming and friendly, making it easy to meet other travelers from all over the world. The staff were incredibly helpful and always available to give recommendations about local attractions, restaurants, and hidden gems in the area.
The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well-organized. Even in shared dorms, there was plenty of space for luggage and personal belongings, and the beds were surprisingly comfortable. The bathrooms were spotless and cleaned regularly throughout the day, which made a big difference.
One of the highlights was the common area. It was cozy and lively at the same time, with comfortable seating, games, and a fully equipped kitchen. The hostel also organized social activities like city tours and group dinners, which created a great sense of community.
The location was perfect — close to public transportation and within walking distance of major attractions. Overall, this hostel offers excellent value for money. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable, affordable, and social place to stay. I would definitely come back!
