We have stayed here several times now before flying from Stansted. Every time the staff have gone out if their way to make our stay perfect. They are all very friendly, helpful and go above and beyond to meetbyour needs. The rooms are always clean. The restaurant is well run and the meals are off a good standard. The hotel is very convenient for the airport and we will definitely keep this hotel as our 'night before holiday ' 1st choice!

Got to the B&B and everything was as we would expect until we attempted to use the shower room sink. Water pouring from beneath. As we arrived late we conceeded we would not disturb the owners so spoke to them in the morning to let them know that we could not use our sink. Simply told that it was strange as it had been fixed recently. Later mentioned that we still found it pretty unnacceptable that we were without the use of the entire sink so requested a 10 to 20% discount of room cost as the facility was unusable to then be told “well you only use a sink for brushing teeth… so there is nothing we will do”. Pretty awful response imo. Not a huge fan of washing my hands in the shower every time we use the toilet or shaving for example. But that is what we were expected to do by the owner. Feel free to book this hotel if that’s the kind of hospitality you would like.

This 15th-century, historically listed manor house is set in an acre of beautiful gardens. It is less than 2 miles from Stansted Airport, and offers free Wi-Fi and free private parking on site. Holiday parking is available on request. Rooms at The White House are simply furnished, and have a coffee machine, toaster, fridge, flat-screen TV and DVD player. Rooms all have picturesque views, a work desk, and a bathroom with a hairdryer. A buffet breakfast is provided each morning for those who have early departures, food is made from high-quality local ingredients. Evening meals are available at the nearby pub, just a mile away. The centre of Bishop's Stortford is a 15-minute drive from The White House. The Imperial War Museum at Duxford is a 25-minute drive from the building. London can be reached within an hour.

Our home from home stay We booked the laurels via my work employee benefits portal but had a look at a few reviews prior to visiting. Let me tell you how relaxing and quiet this stay was. The owner Stan met us at the door when we arrived, was friendly and sociable. The house was immaculate and extremely well presented. Guests have the ability to use the main lounge and a tasty breakfast is served in the morning in the dining room. There was a great selection of food and it was fresh and tasty and cooked to our preference. Our room was the luxury deluxe double and was very comfortable and clean with some little luxury additions of body wash and lotion ( and essentials for the ladies ) The queen bed and pillows enable a lovely deep sleep. The en-suite was a wet room and hot water on tap with some super soft bath towels. I had three showers and hot water available at each time. The brilliant furnishings and home comforts of the room added to the relaxing stay. However I must comment on the host’s Stan and Tricia. They made our stay all the more enjoyable their obvious high standards and pride of their BnB is extremely evident and is the main reason we will be back again in the future. They are extremely communicative and I felt they were available during our stay for anything we needed. We had struggled to get a taxi due to the village location and Stan advised us he would have fetched us. ( next time we will arrange this, Thanks Stan ) The little added touch of the purified water in the decanter in the fridge and the tray of biscuits and selections of tea and coffee in our room felt like a luxury. The Dyson fan was a great addition during a warm evening. The Laurels is a lovely beautifully decorated and well situated place to stay . If you are looking for a home from home break then look no further than the Laurels because it has all you need. I would highly recommend it. See you again soon Tricia and Stan. Ari and James

The hotel is conveniently located right next to Stansted airport. It takes about 2-3 minutes to walk from the terminal to the hotel. Unfortunately I just had a late night flight and was greeted by a seemingly new staff. The staff had to ask his colleague for almost every single step on how to check in. What's interesting is that there are two other staff at the check-in counter. They don't seem to care at all and only answer questions when the new staff raised. I was surprised as I would expect the other staff to actively assist the check in process for better customer experience. I had much better customer experience in other 4-star or even 2- and 3-star hotels.

My go to place when I have an early flight from Stansted! The rooms are spacious, clean and the bed is so comfy. Breakfast is included and offer an amazing variety. The dining options are good and tasty. Some unusual lighter options are also very good.
