Riad Lalla Fatima

Strange from the outside, kind of beautiful from the inside, can be tremendously outstanding. A XVIII century palace which needs to be cared of and a continuously work of repair and restoration. The path to get there is not easy though it really is straight ahead until the end of the road. But the end of the road, downhill, leads to a metal gate that reveals a chicane that continues on descending until you see what seems to be an entrance to a big construction. Pinned on maps as El Palace Mokri, not Riad Lalla Fatima, sits on a quiet area, on a corner of Fes. The family that ownes the palace lives there but that should be a reception or at least someone to receive you, tell you everything you need to know and welcome you. Unfortunately, for us, that was not the case since we have to search around the rooms and corridors to find a nanny/cleaning lady/housewife sweeping a living room full of dust and garbage. She was the one whom, very kindly and without speaking a word of English, French or Spanish, showed us the way to our room (which eventually was not the right one), explained in her way and with gestures how the locks worked, the wifi pass, where the towels were and got us some toilet paper. And we were "installed". A member of the family approached us later in the afternoon to say sorry and to ask about breakfast (which we didn't get the chance to try). As for the rest, the palace is beautiful and it would be even better if it got take care of and if someone would give us (other visitors) a tour. With a warmer reception, directions and explanation on how to get there, a small tour of the place and a little big cleaning up, it really can become an unforgiven experience.

We got a beautiful room, a really nice breakfast and everything you can expect in a riad, plus an amazing building. We were fortunate enough to sleep at the end of the maze, :), so we managed to explore most of the building when entering and leaving. Simply amazing. Also, traveling in winter I would say that we had all the heating we needed. Aziza, the woman, was of great help: kind, welcoming, relaxed, and helped us much more than what it should be expected (help with taxi, help with bookings and help with a last minute printing which saved us a lot of money). I would come back here, no doubt, the next time. I left when the feeling of having a friend in Fès. Ah, I nearly forgot: as *** travellers, we appreciate the special kindness of Aziza and her family. No questions asked, no "I can offer you a room with separate beds", and all that stuff.

I took part of a 10 days trip organized by a local travel agency in Morocco through Casablanca, Essaouira, Marrakech, Tinghir, Ait Benhadou, Fes, Meknes : it’s been beautiful, amazing country and people However, our 8people group and a very bad experience in Lalla Fatima Riad: - We checked in/out 22-24 April 2022 and been trying for 2 days to anticipate the breakfast time to 8AM with no success: we’ve been pushed back for Ramadan reasons and the breakfast has been available starting 9AM only: this means, breakfast room heating, tables arranged, plates, foods.. starting only after 9AM, while we had a strict departure for our day program at 8:30 we had to move: this caused delays, guide tour postponed etc. - We all knew and respected the Ramadan which begins at the sunrise in the day and could cause delays and restrictions in our visits in the cities, but it’s difficult to find a reason for the breakfast room opening at 9AM with nothing ready - Last but not least, breakfast was good with plenty of foods, with American coffee, orange juice: however when one day we asked for a refill of 1 orange juice, the glass came with the bill of 20DHS (2EUR): I am used to travel everywhere around the globe for business and leisure and never ever faced something like this, it’s ridiculous (picture attached) We wanted to flag this to avoid the same situation for future travelers

We stayed here one night. We came without reservation, but we were very welcome. They received us with tea and helped us with every question we had. We loved the quiet atmosphere and the friendly and helpfull staff! The rooms are very clean. So we decided to stay antother night.

Ho incontrato una dolcezza ed una gentilezza smisurate in questo Riad. Sono stata supportata amorevolmente dalla giovane donna che gestisce la struttura, insieme al gruppo che ha viaggiato con me. Abbiamo ricevuto cura per: la prenotazione del ristorante, la stampa dei biglietti aerei, ed ogni nostra esigenza. Mi ha emozionata la sua disponibilità!

piccolo e curato .. pulito colazione molto buona peccato che il personale non ci sia sempre .. non si sente il calore di una casa marocchina bel bagno però nooo alla tenda da doccia ( perde di fascino )camera grande dall'aria un po' trascurata wi fi presente

Nous avons passé 2 nuits dans ce Riad, Pour un séjour moyen,petit déjeuner et repas du soir pas à la hauteur de ce que nous avons pu expérimenté dans d autres Riad dans la suite de notre séjour. Malgré tout très joli riad .. Laurent et christelle

Nous avons passé 3 nuits dans la suite Aïcha au Riad lalla Fatima et en sommes très contents. Le Riad est très beau et propre, l’accueil de Rajae et le service sont impeccables. Merci pour les conseils et ces belles conversations. Le petit déjeuner est succulent et varié. Nous avons dîné 2 soirs au Riad et les plats typiques de Fatima nous ont régalé avec des produits frais et de qualité. L’emplacement est idéal car il est tout proche de la Médina mais aussi tout proche de la porte Bab Ziat accessible en voiture, chose rare dans la Médina. Bref, l’authenticité de Fès et du Riad nous ont enchanté et prévoyons déjà d’y retourner avec les enfants. Une chose est sûre, nous savons déjà où nous logerons… PS: nous avons été très bien accompagnés avec la gestion de Rajae des réservations de taxis pour le transfert aéroport, guides et excursions proposées par le Riad qui sont sérieux.

la habitación que nos dieron tenía el aire acondicionado roto, nos cambiaron para otra que aparentemente estaba ok pero no fue así, tuvimos que dormir o mejor dicho mal dormir con las ventanas abiertas porque el calor era insoportable. Los colchones y almohadas de pésima calidad, parecía que estábamos durmiendo en el suelo, sin hablar de un olor raro que había tanto en la habitación como en el Riad.
