This hotel is beautiful. We booked a junior suite and we’re pleasantly surprised with the size of our ground-floor room. The decor is very nice, and we enjoyed the large tub in the bathroom. The hotel provides water, which was also appreciated, as well as tea and coffee. The price was reasonable, and it is just a 10 minute walk or so to the botanical gardens. If you go just a little further, you will hot many restaurants, pubs, and shops. The only negative was that it’s a bit far out from the center, so if you need to go back and forth, the cab fare may add up. I prefer the quiet of being away from the center.

We walked up from Queen Street Station in less than 10 minutes and were met by Dave the Concierge who lifted our bag in to reception. Chelsea on reception was very kind with a great upgrade due to status and that set us up for a marvellous return trip to the Kimpton Blythswood. The old Scottish Automobile Club building is lovely and the sunny views out onto the gardens in front were very welcome, though the windows in the Salon could be doing with a wash...... Our room was superb, very clean with shower and tub. And some Tunnocks wafers to go with our cuppa. Nice touch. During the social hour we were served by Dave who brought our wine up to the Salon - the old 80m long drawing room on the 1st floor. I had hoped the Salon Bar would have been opened after our last stay, but staffing seems to be the issue. Breakfast in the morning was very good with attentive and engaging staff. We left as we arrived with Dave opening the door and taking us to street level, with his usual chat and charm. We felt special. Thanks.

Not great. Room was more than tired - it was exhausted! Grubby carpet, curtain, walls… Cystern had a leak which led to a puddle in the bathroom. I notice the exterior is undergoing a facelift. Maybe they should concentrate on the interior first. I e stayed in better budget hotels if I’m honest. Positives - towels and linen were immaculate and breakfast not too bad. Staff friendly and polite.

We checked into this hotel expecting the room to look like the photos advertised on their website. In reality, it did not. We were booked into Room 12 which is in the basement of the hotel. The room had a damp and musty smell. The bathroom door hit the edge of one of the beds when you opened and closed it. One of the teacups had tea stains in it. The window in the bathroom did not have a curtain and although there it was frosted, you could see the hotel workers sitting across the way when they were having their break. If you were taking a shower, they could probably see into the bathroom. There was mold in the bathroom shower stall. The worst thing in this room was the large emergency LED trouble light which was about 24 inches long and so bright it lit the room up like a neon sign when you were trying to sleep. To the hotel's credit, I talked to the owner and the maintenance person about how dissatisfied we were with the accommodation and the next morning we were switched to Room 103 on the main floor. They apologized for the inconvenience and the condition of Room 12. The room was much more spacious and the bathroom double the size. There was a large window in the room that opened on one side and the other side could be opened too but the handle to crank the window had broken and fallen onto the ground outside. The room looked out towards a lane and a row of garbage cans. There was still some mold in this shower stall but it was nowhere as bad as Room 12 in the basement. This hotel was booked fully the whole time we were there. I think the biggest draw for this hotel is the proximity to the Byres Road which is near the Botanic Gardens. It is located in the West End, which is lined with boutique shops, bakeries, pubs, and eateries. For the price we paid, it was definitely not worth it. I am shocked that it has had rave reviews but I guess the location trumps everything else. If you book this hotel, call them and try to avoid any rooms in the basement if you can. Also, this hotel does not have an elevator and if you have mobility issues, the stairs are quite steep.

Booked and paid for a stay in a king suite at this hotel , 6 months in advance . I had the booking reference on my phone . When we went to check in we were were told there was no record of the booking and the hotel was full. Apparently , when we booked they were a Hilton . Hilton decided not to renew their lease . What happened next is a mystery to me , they decided not to honour the Hilton bookings. I had booked through Agoda and have Hilton Honours , neither of whom were aware my booking was cancelled. I have since been refunded by Agoda but it left me without a hotel and I had to pay over £300 more than the original booking to stay in 1 Devonshire (everywhere else fully booked) in a standard room. I also had to use taxis as the hotel isnt in a convenient place. The hotel staff did apologise but said it had happened to lots of people and seemed largely unconcerned . Surely they could have taken steps to notify people once it had happened couple of times. Thankfully I could afford to book another hotel and get my refund later ( can take up to 30 business days). Im sure others might not have been so lucky. Enormous lack of care. Ive never experienced anything like it.

The hotel’s location is perfect, with low price and high added value. The twin room is the cheapest but largest bed in the whole trip. It has a 1.8-meter double bed and a single bed. Suitable for a family stay. Next to it is the Glasgow University campus and museum, which is very suitable for taking children to check in. The breakfast provided by the hotel is also very good, the traditional Scottish breakfast, the service staff are particularly good, we booked a room with two free breakfasts, children go to eat a small breakfast, no extra charge. The parking lot is a public parking lot, 10 pounds for 24 hours during the week and free on weekends. There is a big park behind the hotel, and there are many delicious and inexpensive Chinese restaurants around. 10 points praise, 100 points recommendation, will definitely exceed expectations.

I visited here with my husband and 3 children whilst we attended a concert at the hydro. Our family room 309 was spacious and beautiful, the room was immaculately clean and well equipped with everything you need. The sound proofing must be good because for an old building we heard absolutely nothing from other rooms or outside. Staff were polite, cautious, professional and helpful. Special mention to the young man on reception and the 2 ladies at breakfast. Breakfast was perfect and well organised, although the sausages weren’t to our taste. Hotel is within Walking distance of the hydro (even with children that don’t like to walk) . I would 100% book again and recommend

I booked for 2 nights 15th- 17th September for leisure purposes. It was my 40th birthday and my husband had bought tickets to see Kevin Bridges at the Hydro next door. As a special occasion, we booked a Suite & decided to stay longer to make a nicer and relaxing stay. I booked via Booking.com earlier in the year. Extremely easy to get to the Hotel, easy to park & clear signage. Like the walkway into the hotel itself which kept us off the road and the parking tablets on Reception made the process very easy. (Not always a given in a City Centre Hotel - so appreciated) Check In- extremely efficient and staff were brilliant. Was disappointed to be notified that the swimming pool was closed & would be shut the following day from 1430. It was part of the reason I’d chosen the hotel over others in the area. Unfortunately got to the room and it wasn’t a suite. Went back down to Reception & issue was quickly resolved (thank goodness- over £200 per night for a standard double was not what I was quoted when first looking at room options) I received a drinks voucher for 2 due to inconvenience which I thought was a kind gesture. Suite- (1106) Liked the space & loved the views over the River Clyde & beyond. Carpets were stained in multiple areas, cupboards broken on all units, remote control for the TV in living space didn’t work, room service menu was filthy with food marks, and carpets were dirty under the furniture where I presume it was trickier to get a hoover although still very visible. There were bits of debris & dust under the unit in the living space. Even more off putting was opening a bottle of sparkling water provided and finding it had already been opened and someone had clearly taken a swig already. Bar- Decided to go and use our drinks vouchers in the Bar before getting ready for the show. Waited with staff not acknowledging us & talking whilst unloading the dishwasher. When eventually served, was advised I couldn’t have a cocktail due to the show next door. I have no idea of the rationale of this policy but didn’t want to question further. I recognise it’s not the bar staff that write the policies & didn’t want to cause any bad feeling. I asked for a large white wine instead & was then informed that I couldn’t have a large size with the drinks voucher & a medium was then promptly served. I would understand if I’d asked for a Dalmore 62 or a pint of Vodka, but I thought 75 ml extra of wine was tight & poor customer experience especially in the circumstances considering the voucher being received in the first place. I was then asked by the Bar Staff member “Let me guess, you got the voucher due to a problem with the room?” I agreed. “ Doesn’t surprise, this isn’t a good hotel” was the response. When sitting in the bar, I noticed other guests were clearly being served cocktails. I felt extremely put out by this & added to my overall bad impressions of the hotel. Excellent location, fantastic service, lovely modern rooms, very spacious, breakfast was good too. Highly recommend & would definitely visit again if in Glasgow. Small bus ride from city centre & only £8.40 in taxi. On a busy road so a little noisy at nighttime but too be expected.

We stayed at the Devencove as it was within walking distance to the Hydro. The hotel was OK for a 3 star and our room was clean and functional. We went to the restaurant in the hotel and ordered our meal..we initially asked for a starter of mutton, but was told this wasn't available. My husband requested a further pint of Menrbrea but he was told that that this had run out as well. I ordered fish snd chips which looked good but after tasting a bit I cut through the fish and it was uncooked and totally disgusting. When I pointed this out to the waitress she apologised and said that she would pass this on to the kitchen...no replacement meal or refund was offered. For two days I suffered with a stomach upset after eating some of the fish. Within a couple of days afterwards we were asked for feedback on our stay by the Devencove and we relayed what had happened regarding the meal..to date we have had no reply from them. Further to this, when we returned from the concert to the hotel the bar was closed..this was about 11pm but there were a fair few dodgy characters hanging about the reception area and a couple of girls were vomiting in the disabled toilet with the door open!!! This hotel is OK for a cheap overnight stay but definitely not for any longer!!!
