The June Motel, Beaver Valley

"This boutique motel, close to marvelous  hiking trails in the Beaver Valley, has the most nightmarish, non-functional  contact-less  check-in system we've ever experienced in 40 years of travel over 4 continents. Absurdly  elaborate  online forms, ID scans, codes by text....none  of which worked. Multiple stage  post-booking, pre-arrival additional submissions are required....from your phone..while  driving through a remote rural area with spotty-to-nil cell reception.  On arrival...more multiple codes required to pass through multiple doors  that then locked behind us, everywhere, in every room and passageway, with  ominous quiet  whirring/hissing sounds, conveying the sense that you're  in prison. Plus there is unwanted  "smooth country" musak playing everywhere, which the non-present, unseen management  informed  us (by email) could  not be controlled by the guests... neither in terms of volume, nor what kind of music. Welcome to bougie hell.....or maybe a  Wes Anderson movie. On the plus  side, the king sized bed was comfortable; and the fake hunting lodge decor is amusing, with  plastic and resin pretending to be olde-charmy wood. The outdoor  seating  areas around firepits by the riverside are pleasant. And the coffee machine in the communal kitchen produces 7 kinds of excellent  coffee... If you can figure it out above the deafening musak. "

"We discovered this hidden gem in July 2025, loved it so much we booked again in Oct 2025, and after another great stay and experience we have booked again for Aug 2026!! As you see every time we stay here, we book again before we leave! The rooms are well appointed, very clean and the service is fantastic! The bar/restaurant may be small but lots of room outside to sit and 2 fire pits as well! And the service and food is fantastic! It’s walking distance to restaurants and craft breweries and also to the water."

The Inn at Cobble Beach

"The facility is in an easy to find and beautiful location, attractive well-maintained buildings, and grounds. The room was a Loft Suite with a queen bed on the main level and a queen pull-down bed on an upper level (which had been made-up), with a separate couch. The upper level would be OK e.g. for children, but as it was necessary to walk through the main bedroom area to reach the bathroom, maybe not suitable for another couple (?). On entering the bedroom, it was very clean, good quality furniture and comfortable bed with quality linens. There were 2 easy chairs, a desk and chair, a TV cabinet with TV (which we did not turn on), bedside tables and drawers. In the corridor leading to the bathroom was a large wardrobe, but with only about 8 hangers. The bathroom was large with views over Georgian Bay and the resort grounds. The bathroom had 2 sinks, a large bathtub, and a walk-in shower with rainforest shower head. Toiletries were provided. One thing we would have liked on arrival was a couple of bottles of water, but these were not provided. There was a fridge, which was empty and a coffee maker with 4 pods. The WiFi worked well and there did not seem to be a limit on the number of devices that could be simultaneously connected (we connected 4 devices). Also in the room was an air purifier. There were doors leading onto a private balcony, overlooking the north of the grounds and Georgian Bay. We stayed for 3 nights, Cost C$390 per night which included breakfast. For dinner, the menu had only 4 or 5 items of which one was the daily special. Breakfast was OK but nothing special. On the day we left, there was only one waiter serving all tables who forgot to bring items that we have requested. The resort was not providing any housekeeping services, including making-up the room, replacing towels, removing garbage, etc. Although on the website, it says that additional towels and toiletries would be provided, on the first morning when the towels had already been used twice, we requested clean towels we were met with slight consternation. Like “Why”? Not least because we normally take 2 showers per day and for C$390 per night, we would like some service. The garbage was not removed at all, although the lady on the reception desk said that she would personally remove the garbage but did not. Clean towels were left in the room in a black garbage bag. We have stayed in other hotels in Ontario since the covid lockdowns and full housekeeping services were provided. Disposable plastic overalls and gloves are not so expensive. This appears to be more like blaming covid to save on staff expenses. Several of the reviews from other guests are not complementary. Our general feeling was one of dissatisfaction. Maybe ‘disappointment’ that the facility held such promise but did not live up to the promise. The staff did not seem to be motivated. In summary, the stay was expensive for what it was. Would I recommend it? No. Would I go again? No. Pity as it has "

Canadiana Motel

"One of the worst hotels i have stayed at yes in aware cost u get what u pay. but bugs, meth heads, and nothing being clean. pool didnt even work wasn't advertised. wasn't allowed to leave hotel after 9pm or couldn't come back in. I lagit went and cleaned bathroom with cleaning wipes before using as there was hair everywhere snot all up walls, dirt and old soap wasn't cleaned at all... beds were stained with blood and everyone woke up with bites. Pool wasn't even working. absolutely horrible"
