"Booked a sea-view room with half board, and it was a great experience. It's a few hundred meters from the train station, and it's quiet despite being set back from the main road.
**Environment:** It's a traditional Japanese hotel with an elevator up to the seventh floor. Being right by the sea is very convenient. I haven't slept on a futon in a long time and was worried I wouldn't get used to it, but it was actually quite comfortable. The mattress was thick and not cold. There was a faint tatami mat smell, which I personally found acceptable. I was assigned a corner room, so I could also see the sea from another wall, which was lovely.
**Service:** The service was decent. The restaurant staff were particularly warm and welcoming. Just a heads-up, check-in is from 3-6 PM, and the latest entry for dinner is 7 PM, so plan accordingly.
**Facilities:** The outdoor onsen on the top floor offers beautiful sea views. The indoor onsen on the third floor is quite spacious and wasn't crowded at all.
**Food:** Dinner was excellent, with a good variety including sashimi, wagyu beef, and tempura. Breakfast leaned a bit more vegetarian but was also very tasty."

"Stayed here for several days and it was absolutely fantastic! Everything was great – clean, comfortable, and spacious. I slept in late every day. It's walking distance to the beach and shopping areas. The common lounge on the first floor offers unlimited complimentary beverages, and there's a kitchen for self-catering. Most importantly, my father smokes, and the designated smoking area was set up so pleasantly and comfortably; smokers truly feel respected here. Simply amazing! The staff were also very kind and polite."

"I liked the hotel. Very good selection for breakfast and dinner, convenient onsens, amenities of good quality and wide selection of shampoos, face cleansers, creams, etc. I liked infinity bath on the 7th floor, but due to the strong wind I could enjoy it for long time. However sunset and full moon were do beautiful and bath was comfortably hot.
There are table tennis, billiard, massage chairs and gaming machines in the basement, omiyage shop.
I liked choose of sizes and colors of yukatas too."

"I've stayed here before, and this time I brought a friend and booked a larger room. It's a historic inn, but the building and decor don't feel old at all. The Japanese-style room has a really nice vibe, and the smell of the tatami mats is so soothing. The room itself is incredibly spacious; I honestly think three or four people could comfortably stay in that one large tatami room. On the top floor, there's a hot spring with one indoor bath, a small outdoor bath, and a small sauna, all using natural hot spring water. The breakfast selection isn't huge, but all the dishes are local specialties or popular items from Oita Prefecture, so you'll definitely eat well and feel full. The downstairs parking used to be free, but now it costs 700 yen per night."

"I was very impressed with this ryokan stay. We chose a Family Room, which comfortably accommodated four of us. The room had two air conditioners, keeping it pleasantly cool throughout our stay. The overall atmosphere was warm and peaceful, truly ideal for a relaxing getaway.
The service was also very impressive, especially from the elderly gentleman and the male staff member who gave excellent advice. They were attentive and friendly. The other female staff were also lovely and provided equally great service.
The ryokan also has an onsen for a relaxing soak, and the location is convenient, with easy access to a nearby mall close to Beppu Tower.
Overall, it was a very memorable ryokan experience, and it's a place I'd love to visit again."

"Beautiful, well designed, modern and new. Private courtyard is pretty and calming. Private onsen in the room. Room is very spacious, comfortable and well appointed. Parking is right outside the hotel. Totally enjoyed my stay!
I would definitely come back again the next time I am in Beppu."

BoganIt's a 15-minute walk from Beppu Central Station. The area is very pleasant and quiet, with many cozy establishments with unique ambiances. The hotel has a pleasant common area on the ground floor, with a reception area and kitchen. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Thanks for the recommendations for dining options. After 10:00 PM, entry is with a PIN code on the keys. The room is huge, with three beds, a large restroom, and a shower. Everything is rather basic, but comfortable and clean. The elevator closes its doors very quickly, so be sure to get in before you leave. Overall, it's a good budget option for an overnight stay if you're not looking for anything fancy.

This spacious accommodation is ideal for a family getaway with several members. It was tidy and cozy, making it a pleasant place to stay with my kids. The highlight was the garden outside and the large windows that let in the morning sun, creating a lovely atmosphere for breakfast while gazing outside. Unfortunately, the hot spring was out of order when we got there, but it appeared to be large enough for two people to enjoy. I was initially concerned that the size of the apartment would make it chilly upon arrival, but the heating system was effective, and the place warmed up quickly.

This is the best homestay on this trip to Kyushu. The living room and dining room are spacious enough and have large floor-to-ceiling glass. The whole is very comfortable and clean. The outdoor bath is fully used in the house. The number of rooms is also super enough. Adults and children have full game rest space, but the kitchen cannot use the oven. There is also a parking space to carry luggage in the road. There are stones that are not easy to massage. The parking space is public. Everyone stops together. Others are very good and great. It is worth staying again!

We stayed here as a couple and loved every moment. The room was clean, beautifully designed, and felt relaxing as soon as we walked in. After enjoying the private onsen bath made of wood and stone, we watched a movie on the projector while lying on the tatami, which felt so cozy and special.
The amenities were carefully selected and felt high-quality, adding to the relaxing stay. You can tell the host cares about every detail. If you want authentic Japanese experience with your partner, this place is a perfect choice.

I think the staff is very kind. It was a tasteful inn, and the open-air bath was very comfortable and awesome.
We used it without meals. The location is good, so there are convenience stores and coin laundry that can be walked from the inn, so it is easy to use. It was good that it was easy to access in a place close to tourist spots.

I booked this guesthouse while coming from Fukuoka.
It was an 8-person dormitory.
It had bunk beds.
I slept on the first floor for three nights.
The wooden beds creaked and creaked whenever I moved.
The beds next to me also made noises when I moved.
I woke up too often during my sleep.
This was a major drawback.
The kitchen and lounge were convenient to use.
The bathrooms were clean.
The sauna had showers. The hot sauna facilities were nice.
The staff were friendly.
It's convenient to travel from Beppu Station to Oita and Yufuin.
The Beppu Ropeway is convenient.
The beach is just a 10-minute walk away, offering stunning ocean views.
