The hotel setting is marvellous: an old, nice building at the entrance of a park like environment. Deers, peacocks and boars nearby (all behind fences). Even the remains of an roman villa at 10 minutes walking through a small forest. It seems to prepare you for the best hotel experience ever. Indeed, it seems so: back to reality. The room is clean, but no mini-fridge or water cooker to make tea/coffee, which you find in most hotels these days. The walls are made of cardboard, so you can enjoy the conversation, or tv show in the adjacent room. Bring earplugs, or as I did, headphones with noise reduction for a quiet night. The dinner: you can eat either inside, or at the terrace outside. More then 20 tables and 2 waiters. Only 4 tables occupied but nevertheless, after 25 minutes waiting for our ordered bottle of wine I went inside to check. A cooler with a bottle of wine on the bar, but no waiter to be seen. Found one of the waiters outside who was preparing parasols for the next day, instead of serving the tables. After my question, both waiters showed up to bring the wine. The served dinner was average. No menu for desserts, only icecream with a sauce available. This simple dessert took 20 minutes to prepare and note that at this moment only 2 tables were occupied. We expected John Cleese to walk in to announce that they were recording a german version of Fawlty Towers. At check out my wife had to explain to the staff member how the pin machine for credit card payment worked. This hotel/restaurant was one big disappointment.
