Ambiente Hostel

I don't understand how one place like this, with bedbugs problem in the past 2 years have such high score! Unfortunatelly before booking one room to this hostel, we were not checking the bad reviews... considering the good rating 8,3... and we realised on the 3th day the issue, my friend got allergic due to bedbugs bites and later on, I started as well to have issues. I saw with my eyes 3 bedbugs, even I informed the lady from reception and as well via e mail the manager of this hostel. Intially he offered us 50% discount from the amount paid for accomodation, later on, after we sent to him pictures with my friend's body, full of bedbugs bites, he have us fully refund. However, even with this refund, our holiday was compromised due to this bedbugs issue. I had to deal with the fact my skin was itchy, to buy anthistamine pills and anthistamine cream, to recover from the bites. As well we had to buy special spray to kill the bugs, to make sure we will not carry them with us in the luggage, to the next accomodation, in Porto... I saw negative reviews about the hostel's stuff , I would say they were friendly with us, really nice, but the bedbugs issue ruined our holiday and our mood to continue to enjoy our holiday. I asked the stuff to help us use the dryer for our clothes, to make sure we will kill possible bugs from our clothes, as they are pretty hard to get ride of them, and they die if you wash/ dry clothes at 95 degrees. The only good things about this hostel are friendly stuff and good area, 5 min by walk far away from metro station. Booking reviews can be deceiving, check the google reviews! Never coming back at this accomodation, but if you consider bedbugs issue, you can find better accomodation in Lisbon. If this hostel would not be pest infestion, would be a good value of quality-money!

We had a very pleasant stay. Friendly and accommodating staff, a nice room and balcony. The room was clean and bright with rustic details. A big plus is having a fan in the room and the possibility to keep food and drinks cool. The hostel is centrally located, with walkable distances to most attractions, and its also close to the metro.

BEDBUGS :x We chose this hostel for our 1 week stay (very busy stay) in Lisbon because of the location, the price, the pictures and the first reviews we saw on their Booking’s profile. Firstly, everything was OK… We were using the hostel solely to sleep and therefore leaving in the morning and returning in the evening! On the third day we saw a HUGE BEDBUG on the wall, near to the mirror. We then called a staff member that told us he was sorry and explained that as it was an old building, it was quite difficult to get rid of them. He then proposed to clean the room and told us that if we wanted to leave, he would refund the rest of the days. Meanwhile, we looked across the room and found another BEDBUG on the armchair as well as several carapaces on a frame and the shelf above the bed. We couldn’t find another accommodation for the same day we had to stay there for another night. During the day we received a message from the hostel’s staff apologizing again and confirming that they had clean everything. When we returned, we saw that they had changed the bed structure and “cleaned” the room. We spent another night there and it was HORRIBLE (I couldn’t sleep, all my body was itching) and in the morning we saw again another HUGE BEDBUG coming from the mirror frame and another one in the bed – DISGUSTING! We call again the staff and explain to them that we were leaving. I asked immediately for the Book of complaints (in Portugal every business should have it and cannot refuse to give it to the client). The staffer called by phone one of the owners, called Alex, and put me in contact with him. He apologized repeatedly. While I was filling the complaint, he asked me if I wanted to speak with the other owner (Pavel). I refused. I was sincerely panicking just thinking of bringing this plague to my house, through my luggage… Afterwards the staffer told me he could not give me a refund immediately because we booked and paid through Booking, plus he did not have cash money. I asked for an e-mail where they testify that they would refund me. We then left and it was an error because afterwards they refused to refund… I spoke several times with Booking that explained to me that it was upon the hostel to refund or not. The hostel sent us a message saying that we were not being refund because all the necessary measures were taken after the problem was reported and the room was not being occupied by another client. Not only we ended up not being refunded, but we also had to pay for another accommodation and the deep cleansing and freezing of our clothes to make sure that we did not bring this to our home. Our bodies were bitten, especially on the neck, arms and on the back. We could speak with other clients that were staying there. A Belgian group of friends thought they had mosquito bites, a German couple left sooner because of this problem and a French traveler that firstly did not understand the bites he had on the arms… The day we left we spoke with

Our stay was a nightmare, room 4 , but of course all the building was completely infested by BED BUGS!!! I got bitten in many parts of my body, they promised to refound us but they finally reply they won’t. RUN AWAY FROM THIS HORRIBLE PLACE!!!8

It was very loud in our double room form behind the walls. Bathrooms were not in the best conditions, should have been renovated. Apart from that everything was excellent!

Well decorated and very clean hostel. Very kind and helpful staff. Loved it! They have shared kitchen with very beautiful old tiles azulejo. Dorm rooms are mixed. The one when I’m staying have the big terrace with many plants.

Hostel impecável em ótima localização no centro de Lisboa. Muito perto de estação de metrô, paradas de ônibus e do famoso bondinho 28. Limpeza impecável desde os banheiros até o quarto, staff muito simpático e amigável, café grátis na cozinha todo o dia e tudo muito organizado. Ambiente muito agradável!!

Minha experiência no Ambiente Hostel foi ótima. Além do hostel estar muito bem localizado, o atendimento é extraordinário. O Ramon é incrível, super prestativo e solícito. Ele é o melhor, the best do hostel. Recomendo muito essa hospedagem, me senti em casa e super a vontade.
