"Must-Stay: Mandarin Oriental Barcelona 🏦 – The Real-Life Spanish 'Money Heist' Bank! 🏨 Located on Barcelona's famous Passeig de Gràcia, this hotel is right next to Gaudí's stunning Casa Batlló with its magnificent facade. Housed in an elegant mid-20th-century building, it was re-imagined by Spanish designer Patricia Urquiola, boasting a thoroughly modern interior that still retains the distinctive Mandarin Oriental charm. .🏦 Formerly a bank, it incorporates many elements from its past. For instance, a wall in the Banker's Bar was once part of the bank, serving as a safe deposit box area. Even more unique, their menus are presented in metal boxes like banknotes, giving it a real 'Money Heist' vibe, Barcelona style! It also doubles as a lounge for early arrivals, where you can even enjoy breakfast if it's already open. Because it was once a bank, all rooms offer a sense of security, privacy, and tranquility. Even facing the street, it becomes incredibly quiet after dark. The restaurant, lounge, and bar are all contemporary spaces, reflecting the city's artistic spirit and attitude. An absolutely superb check-in experience and service quality."

"What first surprised me about this hotel was how incredibly friendly it is towards Chinese tourists. There was even a Chinese New Year greeting card and fruit on the room table. The front desk staff wished us a Happy New Year too! The moment we walked in, a wave of happiness just washed over us. The hotel lobby is incredibly stylish, well-designed, and has a grand, trendy feel to it. I really loved the many thoughtful design details inside the room. The embroidery on the slippers was very intricate, as were the bathrobes, which featured many embroidered butterflies. The hotel also has a dedicated area in the room for makeup and hair drying, which I absolutely adored – and the mirror is an irregularly shaped design, very beautiful. Even the mineral water bottles were beautifully designed. This hotel just emanates happiness everywhere you look. The hotel environment fully meets five-star standards, but there are a few small details that could be improved. For example, the showerhead sprays water in a chaotic way and hasn't been fixed, and the water pressure is quite low, making showering a bit uncomfortable. Also, the hotel doesn't seem to have solutions for certain guest requests. For instance, I wanted to heat up some food I brought back from outside, and the hotel couldn't accommodate. I believe that for a five-star standard, they should consider and properly address customer needs."

"The room was clean and tidy, and the location is great – not far from the airport by taxi, and also a short taxi ride to the city center. Breakfast was incredibly varied and plentiful. Overall, the hotel environment is very nice, and the surrounding area is quite quiet."

"From the moment I stepped into the hotel, from the greeter at the door, front desk staff, and lobby manager to the restaurant and bar, and room service, every single staff member greeted me with a smile and offered warm, attentive service. This truly showcased the quality of an established five-star hotel. While the furniture, bathroom facilities, and amenities in the room were indeed a bit dated, which is common in many older European hotels, the professional, warm, and thoughtful service completely made up for these shortcomings. The breakfast, once rated as the best in Europe, certainly lived up to its reputation. The rooftop bar offers a fantastic view of the Sagrada Familia. The hotel's location is superb, right in the middle of Passeig de Gràcia, surrounded by various restaurants, bars, and convenience stores. The room was spacious, and the bedding was comfortable. Facing away from the main street, it was incredibly quiet, and it even had a universal adapter. This is definitely one of the best choices for a trip to Barcelona."

"Overall, my stay was very pleasant. The hotel's location is incredibly convenient, with restaurants, attractions, and the subway all within walking distance, making getting around a breeze. The front desk staff were friendly, and both check-in and check-out were very efficient. The hotel also offers complimentary luggage storage, which is a huge plus for early arrivals or late flights, as you don't have to drag your bags everywhere. The room itself was clean and tidy, the bed was comfortable, and the soundproofing was good, ensuring a quiet stay. All the facilities were well-maintained. Both the hotel's common areas and rooms have a modern feel, and I was quite satisfied with my experience. The only thing I think could be improved is the bathroom design. The bathroom door is made of frosted glass, which, while providing some cover, still allows you to see silhouettes and movements from the bedroom. The privacy isn't as good as one might expect. This might not be a big issue for couples, but it could be a bit awkward if you're staying with friends or family. I hope the hotel considers improving the bathroom's privacy in the future."

"One of the bigger room concept in Europe, and definitely the best stay. Might not be the most strategic location as it’s not in the main district like Passeig De Gracia / Eixample, but if you’re arriving or departing via high speed railway from anywhere else in Spain, it’s definitely a good location! I’d choose a big room & travel to the main street via subway than staying in the busy streets. To me, Location 100/10 Amenities 100/10 Hospitality 100/10 Rooftop Bar 1000/10 (BEST ROOFTOP IN BCN)!!!! Highly recommend & def back here soon!"

"The extra bed didn't come with a duvet, only a blanket. This is why the service score is lower; even after asking twice, it wasn't delivered. In the end, I just slept with the blanket for a night, thankfully it wasn't too cold. The sink in the room was a bit clogged, but I didn't bother reporting it. So, I'll give the facilities and cleanliness 4 stars. The two-meal package I bought had surprisingly excellent food! I especially loved the cheese pasta and cheesy eggplant for dinner, and the cheesecake was the best I've ever had! Highly recommend it. Breakfast on the second day had ham and cheese, which I thoroughly enjoyed! Personally, I was very satisfied, but my elderly family members weren't used to it, as there was no Chinese food at all for breakfast. Finally, I had a 16-euro cocktail at the rooftop bar, and when I checked out, the total including taxes was 55 euros. I don't quite understand why, maybe there was a service charge."

"Excellent hotel! Great location, very close to the beach, and plenty of restaurants nearby. The rooms are new and spacious. The only minor downside is the lack of a bathtub. The staff are all very enthusiastic. I'll definitely choose this hotel again next time I'm in Barcelona."

It wasn't just the front desk; every staff member throughout the hotel, from the pool attendants to the restaurant servers, made us feel comfortable, cared for, and truly valued. My elderly travel companions are quite particular about their food, and they had a few unconventional requests. The staff went above and beyond to accommodate them, and that feeling of being prioritized was truly wonderful. The room's view also deserves a special mention! The moment I pulled back the curtains, I was absolutely stunned. The panoramic sea view outside was breathtaking and magnificent, with planes occasionally flying by. It's just a few minutes' walk to the beach, and at night, you can see countless lights twinkling. Even at midnight, people were everywhere on the beach, chatting, playing beach volleyball, and even doing Western-style line dancing. Every photo you take turns out picture-perfect. Facilities and dining also didn't disappoint. The outdoor pool environment was fantastic; just soaking in it and enjoying the view was incredibly relaxing. The breakfast spread was super diverse, offering a full range of Chinese and Western options, hot and cold dishes, fruits, and desserts. Every morning, we started our day feeling satisfied and happy. For dinner, we opted for a set menu, and the portions were incredibly generous – enough to easily fill two people, and the taste was spot-on. All in all, whether it's the service, the environment, or the dining, the W Barcelona excels in every aspect. Next time I'm in Barcelona, I'll most likely choose this hotel again! Absolutely fantastic!"
