We wanted the real Marrakesh experience and staying at a Riad was a must. There are thousands of Riads in Marrakesh so finding the right one is NOT a simple task. After a lot of searching and reading hundreds of reviews, we settled on L'Heure d'Ete for our 4-day stay in Marrakesh. From the main square, it only takes a couple of minutes to get there but be prepared to navigate through a short maze of narrow streets with significant damage that last year's deadly earthquake provoked, and some walls and buildings are being supported by temporary wooden beams that you have to cross on your way to the Riad. Upon arrival, all you have to do is ring the doorbell or knock on the door and you will be greeted by a smiling receptionist. Check-in was a smooth process and we were served some tea while we waited for our room to be made available. It was a pleasant surprise to finally reach and rest a bit at this much cooler ground floor sitting area and fairly silent guesthouse since it was close to 40ºC and chaotic in the Jeema el-Fnaa square. The Riad is smaller than what I expected and the terrace is not as cozy as I was also expecting as it is difficult to be up there when the weather is hot. The rooms are fairly clean but a bit worn out. Internet service is good but it seems they have a different access point on each floor (all with the same name) so you may have to switch between them as you move between floors. In addition, there is not much soundproofing so if you are unlucky to have noisy neighbours, you will hear everything. Breakfast is simple but more than enough to get you started for the day. One great thing about this Riad, and that makes me give it a higher star rating, is the staff. They are all very friendly and make you feel at home. I don't remember the gentleman's name that usually served us breakfast (Abdel?) but he was a charming person and one of the Riad's staff assets. The manager also goes out of his way to shake your hand and ask you if everything is OK with your stay. Well done!!! Overall, the experience was good and I would not mind returning there one day. You will find better Riads and you will certainly find worse. Overall, value for the money is good and the location and tranquility are very good. PS. Not adding any photos since the ones posted by other travelers reflect reality PS2. GPS in Marraquesh is also a must ;-)
