Hostel Waka Waka

In 2014, my friend and I made some absolutely spectacular memories in Morocco and it was mostly down to the kindness and hospitality we had in this hostel. The proprietor was bright, cheerful, friendly and extremely welcoming, even though we arrived very late in the day. The hostel was cool (literally and figuratively) and a peaceful place to sit, drink tea and shoot the breeze. I’ve dreamed of it since then, remembering the fun and adventure we had. Things like toilets and dodgy showers fade into nothing (though I can’t remember having any complaints about either) whilst the memory of the warmth of the people stays with you for a lifetime. Sitting on the beautiful roof top, reading a book, chatting to other tourists, helping clean up after a night (because we wanted to, because we were made to feel like family), feeling fully relaxed, this is what I remember most. Mohammed, I truly hope you, your family and your staff are okay and, if and when you get chance to read this, just know that two English girls you greeted with open arms 9 years ago remember you with nothing but the highest of respect.
