Camellia Hills

Upon arrival we were greeted by a splendid Gin and Tonic overlooking the beautiful lake. Our corner suite was just amazing and the outside terrace was a fantastic place to take breakfast. Staff are very friendly, food fantastic and the experiences you can book in the hotel are grand We have done both the tea tour, canoeing on the lake and wine and small bites on “the secret place” and all were an amazing experience Really nothing to complain about..except perhaps for the leeches 🤔

Talk about heaven and quality! Camellia Hills is not only located in the most incredible spot, the views are to die for and the staff are so efficient, friendly and helpful, it's a must-visit whilst anyone is in Sri Lanka. We were the only couple there for two of our three nights and the attention to detail was phenomenal. Nothing was too much effort and every wish catered for. You must try the waterfall picnic and the cookery class. I would recommend having a room with a balcony to sit out and enjoy the view. 10/10 to all!

Amazing small hotel with fabulous view. All inclusive arrangements works well, with great food & plenty of variety of options to suit everyone. Also got some laundry done which was a bonus after a few days travelling. Arrived by train left by seaplane, both a fun option. The staff at the hotel were all amazing & we were sad to leave.

A perfect start to our wonderful Sri Lankan holiday. Camellia Hills is comfortable, relaxing and very spoiling. The location is spectacular with gorgeous views. The staff are discrete, attentive and always willing and helpful. Delicious food at every meal. The bedroom is ultra comfortable and nicely appointed. The visit to the tea factory was fascinating and enjoyable. Go, it gorgeous!

Overlooking Castlereigh Reservoir and surrounded by the tea plantations, we had an unforgettable 2 day stay in Camelia Hills. The food is excellent, cooked freshly. Service is just perfect. The rooms are spacious and clean. The garden is well looked after. It is beautifully decorated. At night just before dinner, sitting by the fire, enjoying our drinks whilst conversing with other guests was relaxing, delightful and priceless. GM and the Staff were amazing. We wish we could have stayed another day and taken a walk with the very knowledgeable naturalist. We learned a lot from him. We had a night walk in the tea plantations chasing deer and leopards. They prepared a romantic picnic for us on a small hill watching the endless green of the plantations, reservoir, hills on the other side and misty sky after a short walk along the tea plantations, taking pictures of the women in the fields. It was a dream come true. We loved it. We were transported to another world. Heavenly!

This is an exceptionally charming place to stay. We stayed for 3 nights in this place which appears to be in the clouds with views that are unparalleled. The service from the team was absolutely exceptional, they couldn’t do enough. It’s a place of tranquility, peace and time for yourself. There are plenty of walks or hikes if you want to be strenuous, the team have apps which ensure you stay safe and know where you are. There is a wonderful tea factory nearby which was just fascinating to learn how our daily ‘cuppa is created. That’s a must do when you are here. Wander down to the village and play cricket with the welcoming locals, the standard is high!!! Or just relax and watch the sunrise and the early morning mist melt away as the sun starts its work. The place is magical and made even more so because of the team who are second to none, Manoj, Malshon, Puvanith and Mr Azar, who manages the place. Teardrop are the owners and have got this right!

A haven of peace and quiet. Quite one of the most special places to stay I've ever found. Spectacular views over tea plantations to the lake below and distant hills beyond. Very comfortable light rooms with excellent facilities. Excellent food, most attentive service. Delightful infinity pool.

We spent two nights at Camellia Hills and felt we could have stayed a week. Amazing climate and glorious sunrises over the remote Castlereagh Lake were food for the soul. We took full advantage of the fresh air and cool climate to explore the surrounding mountains and tea estates. Camellia Hills has spent some time mapping out trails around the bungalow which we accessed via the Wikiloc app. We did the 11km route which starts with a steady climb but rewards you with amazing vistas across the valley and the experience of walking through some remote highland villages. Just a bit further afield, but in easy striking distance by tuk tuk are Stages 7 and 8 of the newly developed Pekoe Trail. Just stunning--particularly Stage 8 which crossed over the ridge giving spectacular views of Adam's Peak and both the Castlereagh and Maskeliya valleys with their picturesque lakes. The rooms are large, comfortable and beautifully appointed and the food service is almost excessive--three sumptuous meals every day was a perhaps a bit much for us. The team was also very accommodating, packing us a breakfast one morning when we set out early.
