Candlewood Suites OLATHE - KANSAS CITY AREA by IHG ★★

"I booked a room at the Candlewood in November 2023 for a weekend stay in mid April 2024. On 4/13 I got a call from the manager, Shawn, saying they were overbooked and moving me to their sister property 15 minutes away. I had specifically booked this hotel because I’m running the marathon and wanted to be close to the race. I booked through ******* so, unfortunately, it’s non refundable. My friend had booked the Candlewood as well (not through *******) and she got a call today that they couldn’t accommodate her reservation and they were moving her to another property even farther away. Don’t book this hotel unless you want to deal with a place that doesn’t know how to honor reservations."

Red Lion Inn & Suites Olathe Kansas City ★★

"You get what you pay for. This is more a motel vibe. Breakfast consisted of a waffle maker, plain bagel, white/wheat bread and a selection of Aldi honey buns and Aldi mini crumb cakes. No cereal or protein. Bathroom tile cracked. Upon entering room it was freezing cold as the heating unit was off. The hallway was dirty and dingy and could hear every conversation happening in each room from the hallway. Only one employee for entire hotel. Moral or the story: reread my first sentence."
