After staying at Fuzhou Lakeside Hotel, my previous disappointment with the Shangri-La vanished. As a well-established state guesthouse boasting West Lake views, its facilities, amenities, and service fully live up to five-star standards. The overall experience was significantly more comfortable. I. Hotel Environment and Location: Rich Lakeside Heritage The hotel is situated right by West Lake. The grand entrance features a pair of white elephant sculptures, stately and imposing. The entire glass-curtained building directly faces the West Lake. Upon entering, the lobby displays a calligraphy plaque reading 'First Building of Lake and Mountain Scenery,' creating a strong Chinese traditional atmosphere. The location is its biggest advantage. Stepping out, you're immediately on the West Lake walking path, perfect for an evening stroll or a morning jog. It's only a ten-minute drive from Sanfang Qixiang, making sightseeing very convenient. It's a peaceful oasis in a bustling area, without the noise typically found in city hotels. II. Guest Room: New Chinese Luxury, Spacious with Top-Notch Amenities The guest rooms feature a modernized New Chinese style, with dark wood finishes paired with ink-wash orchid paintings, creating a calm and elegant color scheme. The room is very spacious, avoiding any cramped feeling. The panoramic floor-to-ceiling windows offer views of the city's buildings, and you can even catch the sunset in the evening. The bedding is soft and thick, complemented by two sets of pillows, ensuring a great night's sleep. A curved leisure sofa is tucked in the corner, and the desk is large, perfectly adequate for business travelers. The minibar thoughtfully includes seasonal fruits. The independent bathroom is fully tiled with marble and features both a bathtub and a separate shower, ensuring clear wet and dry zones. The mirrored vanity cabinet provides ample storage, the bathroom lighting is soft, and the toiletries are comprehensive. There are no flaws to be found in the hardware configuration. III. Value-Added Features: Humanized Service Beyond Competitors at the Same Price Point 1. Smart Robot Delivery Service There's a guide card on the guest room desk for robot delivery. Food delivery, packages, drinking water, and toiletries can all be called to your room directly via a QR code, eliminating the need to go downstairs to pick them up. Compared to the Shangri-La, where deliveries could only be left in a locker outside, this convenience is a huge difference and extremely friendly for business travelers or guests with luggage. 2. Exclusive Lakeside Running Amenities The hotel offers custom-made running shoes printed with a map of West Lake attractions, available for free rental or purchase. Given its proximity to the lakeside boardwalk, the hotel specifically caters to active guests with running shoes and related services. This unique feature is greatly appreciated by running enthusiasts. IV. Dining Experience The buffet dinner offers a rich variety, with clear sections for hot pot, seafood, local specialties, desserts, and fresh fruits. The ingredients are fresh, and replenishment is prompt. There's a diverse selection of fruits and drinks, and the hot dishes cater to both local and general tastes. The dining area is quiet and clean, and staff proactively clear plates and refill water. The overall quality is consistent. Breakfast offers a comprehensive spread, including local Fuzhou snacks like fish balls and peanut soup, as well as Western pastries, freshly ground coffee, and a whole grain station. Compared to the ordinary breakfast at the Shangri-La, the variety and sophistication here are a cut above. V. Overall Summary Advantages 1. Excellent location, right by West Lake, quiet environment, and superb views. 2. Spacious rooms with a stylish New Chinese decor, and comprehensive bathroom amenities. 3. Humanized special features like smart delivery robots and free running shoes, addressing essential travel needs. 4. High-quality dining, rich local specialties, meeting five-star hotel standards. 5. The well-trained staff of an established state guesthouse provide prompt service. Minor Drawbacks The hotel building is older, so some public area elevators are a bit slow. During peak hours, check-in might involve a short wait; it's recommended to avoid peak times. Overall, for the same budget, Fuzhou Lakeside Hotel's hardware, convenient services, and dining standards are far superior to other five-star hotels in the city. Highly recommended for both leisure and business travelers to Fuzhou."

"This is probably the best hotel built by local farmers I've ever stayed at in China. While the style is a bit heavy, the amenities and quality for the price are absolutely impeccable. The airport transfer service is also fantastic – they pick you up whenever you request, not on a fixed schedule. Best of all, I accidentally left my jacket in the room and only realized it at the airport. After contacting the hotel, the driver brought it to me on their next airport run. Super convenient!"

Facilities: Although it's nearly 30 years old, the interior decoration and facilities show no signs of aging. The moment you step into the lobby and smell the signature Shangri-La fragrance, the Fuzhou heat is instantly left behind, allowing you to relax and enjoy the hotel's amenities and services. If you get tired of the hotel, you can always explore the adjacent mall. Hygiene: Clean and tidy, with all amenities well-stocked. A special thanks to the housekeeping staff. My child threw up on the sheets in the middle of the night after eating too many cherry tomatoes at the executive lounge, and the housekeeping team promptly helped change the bedding and offered the usual Shangri-La care. Service: The service is top-notch, consistently providing that 'home away from home' feeling. We received welcome fruits and white fungus soup upon check-in. An unexpected surprise: The hotel's GM, Eric, used to be the GM of Beijing Shangri-La. I even met him in the Beijing Shangri-La lobby ten years ago. When traveling, Shangri-La is always the safest choice, and you deserve it."

"Honestly, they could just call it Fairfield. There are so many alternatives at this price point, and many are even more comfortable. It's newly opened, and the room had a strong renovation smell (sensitive people beware). The promotional pictures show bathrobes, but there weren't any in the room (not sure if they forgot to put them in or what). The lamps on both sides of the bed didn't work (I thought they were decorative, but they had switches – they just didn't light up). The mattress was incredibly hard! An hour after checking in, the power suddenly went out for a bit, and then the TV stopped working properly. I called the front desk, and they said they'd send housekeeping to check it out (but no one came, even by the time I checked out the next day). The minibar fridge wasn't cooling either. I won't be choosing Fairfield again."

I chose it over the Lavande next door because I'd heard of Jinjiang but hadn't tried it yet. **Facilities**: It's a standalone building in a cluster of hotels, very new and well-maintained. Everything feels fresh and great. **Hygiene**: Spotless, as expected from a Jinjiang Group hotel. They really prioritize top-notch cleanliness. **Ambiance**: Being a Jinjiang Group property, it boasts a unique marble-integrated hotel style. Inside, there's a 'watercolor ink' world map mural which I found quite appealing. The restrooms are fully smart, with electronic bidet toilets, so no more startlingly cold seats at night! **Service**: Excellent! I ordered breakfast, and while it's not as lavish as a JW, it was still very good and had everything you'd need. A pleasant surprise was being given a soft rubber pillow without even having to ask the front desk. It was a thoughtful touch, and the pillow was genuinely comfortable, really helping my neck. Thumbs up! **P.S.** This is one of the rare hotels without any downsides. Both the indoor and outdoor environments are very pleasant. Whether it's the ambiance or the location, everything was convenient and smooth, perfectly fitting the occasion. A great place! Plus, they offer airport drop-off service for early flights! If I had to pick a flaw, it would be that the automatic doors in the lobby are a bit too sensitive and open frequently. Coupled with being in a coastal area, it can make the ground floor lobby feel a bit stuffy. I'll definitely be back!"

"This hotel is right next to Taihe Plaza in the East Second Ring Road – just a 50-meter walk across the street! It's perfect for business trips, with a subway station nearby making transportation very convenient. Parking is also a breeze. As for dining, Taihe Plaza has an abundance of options right there. The front desk staff are incredibly friendly and provide excellent service. While the breakfast selection isn't huge, it's more than enough for a business traveler. The mini wontons are especially noteworthy – small portions, perfect for a taste without filling you up, and delicious!"
