The accommodation is really nice and beautiful! The onsen room is absolutely amazing. The place is lovely and comfortable, but the food selection is a bit limited. It's a little far from the city, but if you're looking for a relaxing getaway, I highly recommend it!

The public areas are exceptionally well-designed, beautifully blending Park Hyatt's signature luxury with a Japanese onsen resort vibe. The overall atmosphere feels both sophisticated and relaxing. The breakfast and the selection of restaurants are much more extensive than at the neighboring Higashiyama Niseko Village, and the food itself tasted noticeably better. Service is also a major plus here. The welcome fruit wasn't just generic apples, pears, or bananas; they offered a plate of strawberries, which felt very thoughtful. Whether it was the Japanese staff, foreign staff, or the Chinese-speaking employees, everyone was consistently warm and natural. I was particularly impressed by a young woman in the restaurant department, who seemed to be from Henan, China. She was incredibly welcoming and friendly, making conversations very pleasant. Communicating with other foreign staff members in Japanese was also seamless; there was no need to force English, nor did we have to resort to translation apps like we did at Higashiyama Niseko Village. Finally, upon departure, since the hotel doesn't have a shuttle bus and we couldn't immediately find a taxi, the hotel thoughtfully arranged a complimentary business car to take us to the station, which was a huge bonus to the overall experience. The basic room type in the hotel building is a large suite with a double bathroom design, offering a high level of comfort. There are some drawbacks, however. As a hotel opened in 2020, there are already visible signs of wear and tear on some of the leather and fabric in the rooms, so the maintenance isn't perfectly pristine. The views are also significantly less impressive compared to Higashiyama Niseko Village, where you can see Mount Yotei directly from the lobby, rooms, and even the onsen. Additionally, this hotel has more rooms and also accommodates quite a few group tours, so even during the non-snow season, it's quite popular, making it less quiet overall than Higashiyama Niseko Village.

I stayed for one night, and I think it would be convenient for longer stays in winter. I booked a room with an Annupuri mountain view, but it was a bit disappointing as there was construction right in front of the hotel. The photos I took were zoomed in on the side and top to avoid the construction view as much as possible, but right outside the window, it's all construction. ㅠㅠ

Facilities: Very well-maintained, at a Japanese 5-star standard. Cleanliness: Excellent. Environment: Perched on a mountaintop with stunning lake and ocean views. The golf course is right at the hotel's doorstep, a true mountain course. Service: Breakfast is a à la carte and semi-buffet style, just so-so.

Absolutely loved our stay at Nonokaze. The hotel is beautiful, and they are very generous with everything — from the lounge freebies to the breakfast and dinner buffets. I upgraded my birthday dinner to N Vague, and it was definitely worth it. The French cuisine using local Hokkaido ingredients was delicious and became one of the highlights of my birthday. What touched me even more was the surprise the next morning. There was a paper bag hanging outside our door with a framed photo of me and my mom inside, plus a short birthday message at the back. Such a thoughtful gesture that I will never forget. Our room was also beautiful and very relaxing. Just sitting in the living area while looking at Lake Toya was already special, and the view of the fireworks from our room was perfect — it honestly felt like the fireworks were right in front of us. The staff were all very accommodating and welcoming. I’m very happy and grateful for our stay at Nonokaze. It made my birthday even more memorable, and this is definitely one hotel experience I will never forget.

## Location Starting from Hakodate in the morning, we checked into this Hilton in Niseko, using it as a base for a day trip to Shakotan Peninsula and Cape Kamui. The hotel is located in the Hirafu area, making it very convenient to drive to View Plaza, Takahashi Farm, and the Hirafu village gondola area. It's a well-established five-star ski hotel in the core Niseko resort area. ## Staff A high percentage of the staff across various departments are of South Asian descent. They are generally warm and polite, with fluent English, though slightly accented. Slowing down your speech makes for smooth communication. The check-out process is a bit cumbersome, typical of older resort hotels with more procedures. During check-out, staff proactively ask about your onward travel plans and even print out formal accommodation tax receipts in an envelope. ## Dining (Both breakfast and dinner buffets require reservations) The buffet restaurant is enormous, a standard for a five-star hotel, with an extensive variety of dishes. However, both breakfast and dinner have a distinct Southeast Asian flavor that we found rather peculiar and not particularly tasty. It's essential to book your dining slots for both breakfast and dinner in advance, as it can be difficult to get a table if you try to book last minute. We recommend booking as soon as you check in. The restaurant gets very busy, with many Korean tour groups, and the public areas can occasionally be a bit noisy. ## Room Experience We booked two deluxe rooms, one king and one family room. The rooms were exceptionally spacious, a rare find in Japanese hotels, and offered great value for money at just over 1,000 yuan (approximately $150 USD) per night during the summer. • The rooms have been renovated, and the air conditioning is comfortably cool. The oversized panoramic windows offer superb mountain views, directly overlooking the golf course (which becomes the ski slope in winter). • The layout features a separate wet and dry area, with the washbasin located outside the bathroom. However, the toilet area itself is on the smaller side and hasn't been renovated, looking a bit old and cramped. • We requested high-floor, quiet rooms in advance. Our two rooms were located at the near ends of the corridors on either side of the elevator (avoiding corner rooms). The hotel's corridors are curved and extremely long, making daily trips to the restaurant and onsen quite a walk and physically demanding. • Hairdryers are not provided in the rooms; guests must use them in the onsen area. The onsen changing room only has two hairdryer stations, which are underpowered and make it difficult to dry hair, often resulting in queues. • Two bottles of drinking water with good packaging quality are provided daily in the room. ## Public Onsen & Shortcomings The onsen facilities don't quite match a five-star rating. The overall size of the pools is relatively small, and the shower/changing area is cramped. The lockers and storage designs are very basic, a noticeable contrast compared to the several Japanese onsen ryokans we stayed at on this trip. The hotel lobby is grand and spacious with high ceilings, and its red decor gives it an impressive feel. There's a small souvenir shop on-site with reasonable prices, not overly inflated. ## Overall Summary This is a classic, well-run five-star resort hotel with an impressive lobby, huge guest rooms, and excellent views. It offers great value for summer stays and is a popular ski accommodation in winter. Its strengths include warm staff, a convenient location, and spacious, quiet rooms. The drawbacks are the peculiar-tasting food that requires advance reservations, somewhat subpar onsen facilities, the lack of in-room hairdryers requiring queuing in the public area, the long and tiring walks along the corridors, and a slight sense of noise due to tour groups. Overall, the experience doesn't quite measure up to some of the smaller, more niche Japanese ryokans.

The location is excellent, and the rooftop hot spring facilities are a major draw. It's a bit pricey, but it definitely has its selling points. I don't think there's a need to insist on a view or a fireworks view; these gimmicks might be a bit misleading online. I believe you don't need to overthink it. If you really need to stay in town for a day or two, choosing the hotel everyone recommends is a good choice. Breakfast is average, so don't expect too much.

We had a great stay in Toya! The hotel is conveniently located near both the bus station and the train station, which made traveling very easy. The location is definitely one of its best features. The staff were very accommodating and helpful throughout our stay. Just a heads up — there is no private bath in the room, so be prepared to use the public bath/onsen. But honestly, the onsen was very good and relaxing, so it was a great experience. Getting a taxi early in the morning (before 7 AM) can be quite difficult in Toya, so it’s better to arrange your taxi the night before. A taxi from the station to the hotel costs around 2,000–3,000 yen. Overall, a comfortable, relaxing, and convenient place to stay!

After seeing so many negative reviews, I was a bit hesitant about booking Lakeside Pavilion, but my actual experience was surprisingly good. First, the service was warm and proactive; I didn't encounter any of the alleged discrimination against Chinese guests. Second, the rooftop onsen was excellent, and the room had a great view. Even though there was a bed, we asked for three futons to be laid out, which was very comfortable. As for outdated facilities, you barely use the in-room bathing facilities at an onsen hotel anyway. While dinner and breakfast weren't exceptionally refined, there was a wide variety of options, so you're sure to find something delicious. I'm very satisfied with my choice this time.

This hotel is conveniently located near the Moiwa and Annupuri ski resorts, with a handy shuttle service. The scenery is beautiful, breakfast is delicious, and the rooms are incredibly spacious, with the option to self-cater. There's also a large public bath and massage room on the 3rd floor, and ski lockers, washing machines, and dryers on the 1st floor – excellent facilities all around. The staff are friendly, and there's even Chinese-speaking staff available. The only downside is a sewer smell, which seems to permeate the entire hotel.
