My wife and I stayed here in 2021 and loved it, so we thought we would come back for another stay. We usually come to Phu Quoc once or twice a year as we have friends on the island and really enjoy the island. We have stayed at several other places the past two years, but Thanh Kieu was high on our list. Unfortunately, after this stay we will not be returning to Thanh Kieu. The positives: -Resort is very natural and well landscaped. You really feel like you're staying in paradise. Beautiful flowers. -Room was clean -The bed was comfy and the air conditioner was definitely cold. -They also have three water filtration machines where you can refill your own bottles, which is nice. The negatives: -The breakfast buffet is advertised to run until 9:30, but at 9:20 the food much of the food ran out and was not refilled. Additionally, the food wasn't very good. Cold bacon and sausage, no heat lamps? Cheese that had gotten hard around the edges. Tasteless ham...etc. -Algae growing on the showerhead by the poolside shower. The shower that guests are supposed to use after swimming in the ocean had very weak water pressure so when I looked up at the showerhead it was all green with algae and gunk. Looked very gross. -No water to wash feet when coming up from the beach... well they have barrels, but no one put water in them for the guest to use. -The biggest negative was one particular staff member and a ridiculous hotel policy: I didn't get his name, but the staff member was quite rude. Guests can rent a scooter, but you have to pay a full-day rate regardless of when you rent it. Of course, I have no issue with renting a scooter at a full-day rate, but I then also assume that I get to use the scooter for a day. We rented a scooter at about 3:30PM and asked if they had a half-day rate. To which the staff member told us they did not and we had to pay the full-day rate. We returned the scooter at 9PM and told the staff member at the desk that we would be taking the scooter out in the morning to run a few errands, he informed us that we would have to pay another full day rate for what would have been about 15 minutes of errands. I'll spare you the details of the discussion, but will just say that the staff member was condescending and kept telling us that it was the hotel policy. Suffice it to say we returned the scooter and ran our errands via taxi the next day. We had rented the most expensive class of bungalow at the resort and to have to argue over just a few dollars didn't make us feel very welcomed. There are so many other options on the island, I'll be spending my money elsewhere next time I come to Phu Quoc.
