The White Swan Inn

A nice Inn with a lovely dining room on the Main Street in Pickering. Friendly staff and thoughtful with the little ones. Excellent starters especially the trout and crab. The children’s meals were brought with the starters which was good. The 2 children’s steak and chips were great. All the mains were great - the sea bream perfect and the 3 rump of lamb very moist and tasty. The only disappointment were the fondant potatoes. The lemon tart and rhubarb was excellent and the pavlova also very good. Overall a lovely evening.

A fabulous stay in a lovely inn in a delightful English town! Staff could not have been more welcoming. Room was great, food was excellent and nothing was too much trouble. Superb for people with dogs - no trouble at all and nice spaces to make sure we did not disturb other guests who may not have dogs. Thank you and we will be back!

Lovely place to stay with great character in the building and surroundings. The room was lovely. The staff can’t do enough for you, all so friendly and welcoming. Food was excellent. . Would highly recommend staying here. Great location as well.

A lovely Inn situated in the heart of Pickering. Left the car in the Inns free car park and didn’t need to drive it until heading home. The Inn is within walking distance of the Steam Train and lots of accessible hikes. Food is excellent as are all the staff who work here. Very comfortable rooms and quiet. Would definitely recommend a visit here.

Second time we’ve stayed here, fantastic again. We had a lovely room at the back in the annex, great size, immaculately clean, even candles for the deep bath ! Staff are very professional and very attentive, nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast has a great choice…. We will definitely recommend this one and will be going back…

Charming Pub, lovely atmosphere, brilliant service... Staff very friendly, professional and efficient. The food was exceptional. A special evening....would definitely recommend and will definitely return on our next visit to Pickering.

A friend and I had a lovely two night stay here, courtesy of a Travelzoo deal. There was a slight mix-up after we arrived and found that we’d been allocated a double room when we’d requested a twin room. However, this was quickly sorted and we were moved into the room next door (#12) which was configured as a twin. The room, which overlooked the main street, was one of the vintage rooms and was a reasonable size and very comfortable. For anybody who’s disturbed by light when sleeping, a potential ****** is that there’s a step down to the en suite which, for us, meant leaving the bathroom light turned on overnight, should one of us need the bathroom during the night and forget about the step! The White Swan really is such a fabulous place, with fabulous staff who can’t do enough to help and fantastic food. We had dinner in the restaurant and, whilst not especially cheap, our meals were delicious; I started with the scallops and followed with the pan fried stone bass whilst my friend had the smoked almonds to start and slow roast belly pork for her main. Breakfast was equally enjoyable, and so relaxing and unhurried which I always appreciate. Not only was there a wide choice, with all the usual offerings, but everything was of an extremely high standard and I can only describe breakfast as being a faultless experience for me. There’s such a warm and cosy atmosphere here, helped by the numerous open fires which were always lit and lent great physical warmth to the inn. The White Swan really does ooze character, along with a calmness and friendliness that left us wanting to make a return visit before too long. This is a lovely place that’s up there with the best in its category.

From the warm welcome when you arrive to the day you check out you will be greeted with a smile. Great location to explore the village and a 5 min walk to the steam train. Food was excellent both for breakfast & lunch, good wine list. We had a hideaway room which was well appointed, clean and comfortable what more can you ask for. We will be back.

Excellent all round stay. Efficient, friendly and adaptable service and the food is excellent. Rooms are comfortable and have the old world charm of an old inn. Can cope with parties as well as small groups. We have been several times now knowing it is reliably good.
