The location and the view of the hotel are impeccable and the rooms have unrivaled sea and mountain views. The facilities are actually very good, but the strange bathroom shower head design makes the bath extremely awkward. The hotel is the old grand theatre, and it is the town that continues to go down. The distances are just right. The beach is not good, but the beaches in southern Italy are the same. It is the kind of large-grained sandstone beach, which is very ground. The only thing that I feel dissatisfied is that the Italians are really too playable. The party is still playing music loudly at 12:30 in the evening. It is not a complaint that it is estimated that it will not be closed several times. Parking is also a bit difficult, we all parked in the parking lot lumbi garage about 2 km away, and then take the shuttle bus, convenient.

I am very pleased to have the opportunity to post a review about our recent stay at the Grand Hotel San Pietro Taormina. Amazing, best kept secret! From our arrival to departure, (my wife and I stayed for 5 nights), magnificent location, very comfortable spacious room with a balcony terrace overlooking the Ionian Sea, and high grade amenities. The breakfast spread was so good that it set us up for the day. The town centre is a 10 minute comfortable walk but the hotel also operates a shuttle service every hour for guests…you have to book it ahead..we used it a couple of times…great! They do have a couple of restaurants, we had lunch one day, again excellent food menu and service. Most of the time we were out on day trips and ate at local restaurants in the evening, again the hotel was very helpful with suggestions and their recommendations were great. We have stayed at Four Seasons and Belmond group in different destinations, incidentally Taormina has both of them but must say San Pietro excelled, no regrets. There is a Hindi phrase ‘Atithi Devo Bhava’ which literally means’the Guest is God’ and is truly applicable to our experience at the San Pietro. Finally we must mention the staff who were brilliant particularly Virginia Proietti the Hotel Guest relations Manager and Stefania who looked after us at breakfast. This hotel is recommended as a Fine Hotel and Resort with American Express. The hotel does not deliver that kind of experience. When we arrived at midnight in the pouring rain there was only one person on the staff available to help 4 of us get our luggage up to our rooms on the second and third floor with no elevator. We are in our 70's. Our bathroom shower flooded the room every night and no one was interested in fixing it. We were there 5 nights and spoke with three people about the shower problem. It was very slippery and dangerous situation for my husband and I. They are more interested in their Michelin Restaurant on the property than their guests staying there. After breakfast there is no food service unless you want to get lite bites at the pool. It is difficult to get a cocktail. Like I said they are all about the Michelin Restaurant and not their hotel guests. This was very disappointing service that you would not expect at this highly rated hotel. Stay somewhere else if you want good service and attention. When we checked out they didn't even know what room we were in. The only good thing I can say is breakfast was good and the view was nice. Don't stay here it is not worth the price. There are too many other wonderful choices and you will not get your moneys worth at this hotel.

We loved the location of the hotel. We stayed 4 days and used it as our home as we e plowed the area. We did a city tour, a day of sailing and wine tasting at Barone di Villa Grande. It was raining one day so did not take in Mt Etnea. I definitely have to give a shout out to the concierge Sarah. She is FANTASTIC. She provided a wealth of information and booked events. It was my husbands birthday and she arranged a great surprise for him. the hotel is beautiful and the staff are friendly; however, she made our experience over the top. We have stayed in many hotels around the world, but from the moment you enter the Metropole Hotel in Taormina, you realize you are going to undergo a unique experience. It is almost like visiting a large family in their magnificent estate overlooking the ocean on one side, and in the center of “movie set” Taormina on the other. This family warmly caters to your every need, and within their estate you have every possible facility you could desire. The rooms (several types, sea view and city view, but get sea view if you can) are spacious and comfortable. Marcello (the manager) assisted so ably and warmly by Santino, cannot do enough to guide you and help you enjoy their beautiful city. David, Maria and the other bar/restaurant staff are there when you want them, but leave you to enjoy the incredible view from the bar and restaurant in comfort. There is an infinity pool that is wonderfully refreshing, and has both open and shaded loungers to enjoy a restful break. The food in either the bar or restaurant is first class - best Niçoise salad I’ve ever had! When you visit Sicily, if your only splurge on one hotel, make it the Metropole in Taormina - it’s worth it!

The hotel is boutique and situated in a cove. The walk is tough to get around, so it’s not for people with mobility issues. The cable car was closed! The gym was closed (my husband is an international sportsman, so that was not ok for him). The food is ok for breakfast, however, they run out a lot and I had to keep asking for things. The beds on the beach are not great, neither are they comfortable. Bella island was also closed. It was May so it’s confusing how things were closed. The hotel was noisy, they had an event and were shouting and laughing whilst dragging (yes dragging) big furniture outside along my room on stones. Woke me up at 3am! Seriously. Very bizarre behaviour for a hotel. Certainly wouldn’t go back.

A great location with good views of the bay. Just a short walk from the entrances to the old town and right above the bus station, which is really useful For local transport and also the airport. The hotel’s staff were brilliant. They could not do enough for us at the front desk and made all the difference. The breakfast has plenty to choose from and the dining room has great views. We sis not have dinner at the hotel, but the restaurant/ bar has a Happy Hour and was a great place for an early evening drink. The rooms are spacious, clean and we had a great view. It is worth paying a little extra for the balcony with a view.

We’ve been to Taormina on two previous occasions, stopping at the nearby Ariston Hotel both times. No complaints about the Ariston. However, due to matters financial, we switched to the TPH, which was a bit of a gamble. This could have gone all wrong……but it didn’t. We loved it! If you’ve read some of the other reviews, you’ll get the picture quite well, the TPH could use a good decorater, however, it’s cosmetic, and caused us no problems at all. The hotel is smaller and quieter than the Ariston , and has an olde worlde charm, with its marble staircase, inlaid doors, chandeliers and furniture from a bye gone era. The pool area, although busy at times, was quiet and well run by the staff, a great place to enjoy the Sicilian sun, and cool off! The breakfasts were taken by the pool, nice touch, and there was plenty of variety on offer and we really enjoyed that. The view from there, and our second floor balcony, was unbeatable. The wifi in our room worked fine, all the time. However, the massive selling point that really made our time there so marvellous, was none of the above; it was the staff! From the quietly confident and helpful desk staff, to the welcoming and engaging catering/breakfast/pool bar staff, the maintenance man, to the room cleaners, they were awesome! If you need a place in Taormina that is central, clean, with great views, great food and fantastic staff, I have no hesitation in recommending theTaormina Park Hotel. Just don’t book it during the first two weeks of July, ‘cause we’re going back next year! Bravo TPH, you were amazing 🤩

A renovated clean hotel with nice sea view. Great location, very conveniently located close (walking distance) to the key highlights of Taormina, shops and the upper entrance of the cable car. Staff was attentive and friendly willing to share information and highlights about the area. Whenever we asked for assistance it was happily provided. The room we got was spacious and comfortable. There is a public parking adjacent to the hotel but if you want a private one to guarantee a spot, the hotel can easily arrange. Even though the breakfast is basic, its tasty. Would have preferred a bathroom with a natural ventilation but that did not affect our stay at all.

This property has amazing views; the location is within walking distance to the main village; there is wonderful full breakfast; parking on site and friendly staff. This property is an older vintage hotel with a family history. But like everything in Taormina, there are stairs to navigate. (An elevator is currently under construction.) We had an amazing room (#24) with a full terrace overlooking the gorgeous gardens and stunning sea. The room and the whole property is full of vintage and classic furniture, art and ceramics. As in any older building the walls are thin; some other guests could be more considerate. You can walk to the main area of Taormina in just a few minutes - but again, the whole town is nothing but stairs! We left the car in the hotel parking lot for our whole 3 day visit. We walked everywhere including to restaurants. For a tour of Mt. Etna the company picks us up at the road. Just make sure the town gondola is 'in season' if you want to go down to the beach without driving - it was still closed for the winter in the first week of April. We found the staff very helpful and friendly - especially Sebastiano who handles the extensive breakfast offerings with covid protocols. There are both hot and cold offerings. It is all very good.

Sadly, excluding a wonderful lady behind reception & a lovely cleaner, this hotel at best is a 2 star hotel. Our experience has just been horrific, and I feel it only fair to share our true honest happenings. We arrived and were upgraded to a larger room. Greatly appreciated. We asked for directions to the pool, which may I point out is NOT part of the hotel, it’s a lido on the beach only reachable by a 15/20 minute shuttle bus. So the advertising of this hotel having a pool onsite is very far from the truth. I filtered swimming pool & free cancellation & there is NO swimming pool. So please do not expect one. The hotel room was warn out & needed some tlc. The curtain rail fell and landed on my head on the first afternoon, and was left on the floor for our entire stay. No attempt to fix it for us. The shower cubicle doors would not open or close easily. In fact I’d shower with them open and put towels all over the floor so I didn’t create a huge mess. Sadly on our third day in the hotel, my partner showered & the cubicle door shattered all over him. Glass absolutely everywhere. In his feet on his legs and he was bleeding too. He has scratches left on his legs and glass was still in his feet. The cleaner in shock rushed in, and a gave my partner flip flops as you could barely see any floor without shattered glass. Between the cleaner and a staff member, they cleaned the mess as if it had never happened. And we were expected to continue our day. A lady behind reception offered us a small room which we declined, as worryingly it felt also in need of some help. We continued our stay, as Taormina is full right now and left the hotel today at 12pm. Our departure was nothing short of horrifying, we arrived at reception greeted by the grandson of the owner rudely & aggressively pointing at us, surrounding us by three further Italian men, we have been told are police to ensure we pay for our damages. We did immediately as felt somewhat threatened & forced, and it wasn’t until the police heard the whole story, that they agreed this was unacceptable behaviour from the hotel & an extremely aggressive way to treat two individuals. They apologised repeatedly but we had paid the hotel & were left without any choice. The police did all they could and eventually got us a 50% refund in the damages cost. Sadly it hasn’t actually been refunded.

When you come to a new place without much research done in advance, you need someone to give you practical and useful information. This is the hotel where staff are so friendly and professional. They gave you the best and most practical advice to visit some of the tourist attractions and restaurants. Appreciate their excellent recommendations. Hotel itself is good with great attention in small details. Free minibar, small snacks, fine quality of toilet amenities. It isn’t a big name but a big surprise to us. Love their staff. All make you feel very welcoming and homey. Stunning sea view and very convenient location. I simply park the car outside the hotel and use their valet parking service at 25 Euro a day. What else can I ask for? Would recommend it to anyone who would like to spend a relaxing holiday in Taormina.
