The amenaties throughout the park are designed to keep the kids occupied with indoor and outdoor pools, as well as other games rooms etc. The mobile telephone coverage is average at best as is the parks wifi, especially when everyone gets up in the mrorning, so take as book and relax, as you should!

Good location to explore most of Port Stephens (various activities, beaches, restaurants etc across Nelson Bay, Shoal Bay, Birubi Beach / Anna Bay, Irukandji Shark & Ray encounters and more). - Hygienic and well maintained rooms. Well designed and functional for families. ACs were well maintained. Kitchenette was functional too. - Helpful staff. They look out for ways to help out visitors with specific requests and needs. - The only negative we experienced was that a couple of groups of visitors pretty much cornered the pool on certain days, and were not following basic rules around hygiene (some of them were in the pool wearing their regular clothes!) and common courtesies to others... Quite annoying. I understand that this isn't necessarily under the hotel's control. But the fact that more this crowd was a large% of visitors suggests that this might be regularly tolerated. - We were given a fresh set of towels after the 3rd night, which was nice. - Overall, a good experience! We would be happy to come back here!

Anne is the most amazing host! We stayed here from Christmas Eve until 27th December and had the best Christmas we could have wished for. Anne was so welcoming and kind, she even left us a bottle of bubbly for Christmas Day! We planned to spend Christmas day on the beach and Anne made sure we had everything we needed. Offering us beach towels, hats, sunscreen and a beach umbrella. Her breakfasts were out of this world and we wished we could have stayed longer to try them all. The apartment was spotless with beautiful bed linen and towels and the view was an added bonus. We didn’t want to leave and asked Anne if she could adopt us 😂 We stayed in many places during our time in Australia and this was the BEST! We certainly hope to be back sometime soon. Thank you Anne for everything.

Post covid, most 5 star hotels have reduced their standards and their service levels, and truly, are not providing what we expect at that level anymore. That is not the case with the Anchorage. Aside from the large, stylish and wonderfully clean rooms, that come with stocked mini bars, quality Dyson hairdryers, generous toiletry supplies, the 2 pools, beach next door, kabana area and lovely restaurants, ( we ate in both The Galley and Wild Herring,and breakfast is a high standard) it is the little complementary touches that set this place apart. It is the staff circling the pool offering fresh watermelon and zooper dooper ice pops, champagne/ mimosas and barista coffee at breakfast, sun cream and chilled water poolside, and a drink when you check in. The staff are wonderful and nothing feels like too much trouble from everyone that we encountered - Olivia and team at the front desk, to housekeeping crew and all the wait staff. A call out to Angela, James, Carlos and Katie for your disposition and service, thank you. I have been here a few times for work, facilitating events for clients but not had the opportunity to enjoy the location. This time I booked a leisure trip with my family and I write this review because it truly has been a wonderful experience and they deserve the acknowledgment. I would recommend The Anchorage to clients and friends alike based on the thoughtful touches alone.
