Let’s address the title of the review first. There were a couple of little things that a fussy or moaning traveller might have picked up or mentioned, but nothing to reduce the overall impact of a great value stay, so I am not even going to say what they were. This is a great value location with lovely, friendly staff, nice facilities, some of which are being refurbished to be even better over the coming weeks. The place was clean, the bedroom was big and the bed comfortable too. The power shower and the bathroom toiletries were good and the free on-site parking was very convenient. And then came breakfast. Included in a very very compelling and surprisingly low room rate, the breakfast was as good as many I have had in 4 and 5 star hotels and better than most, and all served with a smile. I travel to the area for work on a regular basis and I will definitely be back. Thank you Sea Hotel Team. It was my pleasure to stay at your establishment.

Great location close to train station. Very clean modern hotel at a good price. Nice pretty chicks at the reception. Very comfortable bed and a great bathroom. Many attractions near the hotel. Snacks and drinks are available from the vending machine. There are code keys everywhere, which means that outsiders have limited opportunities to roam around the hotel. The only downside turned out to be that a room with a window means a room with a window to other windows from which other residents were staring.

This hotel is not a place to stay for more than two nights. They do not clean your room and provide replenished supplies. You have to ask every time you need something, tissues toilet paper milk tea coffee clean towels soap. It is an hotel with many rooms but it seems as though there are only four disabled parking places close to the front of the hotel the last couple of nights the two disabled parking spaces were filled by expensive Porsches that did not display blue badges. Seems they think they can do what they like The parking is monitored by parking eye. Be careful as you may end up with a hefty parking charge from ******* like them It gets very noisy at the weekends, ask for ear plugs and they look at you stupid. Generally they could save a fortune by turning the hot water temperature down and using thermostatic mixer taps. The aircraft noise starts between 6am and 7 am. There seems to be a lot of secrecy you have to ask for menu’s then get told where to get it Be a good idea if they had menus in the rooms.food not bad reasonable price but would have liked menu in rooms Interesting caveats you don’t get a refund if you have a covid related issue or if Ukraine causes problems but they do not have any protocol’s in place about social distancing. The lifts are a free for all and there are no notices about about who should be in the lift . I think the rated capacity is 10 or 75 kg. I would like to see limits on lift capacity and stopping un related people entering the lifts. Three times I told people I did not want to share the lift but they still piled in so I left. One way to prevent this would be to not have interrupted journeys if you get in on floor 2 and want to go to ground floor do not stop at level 1. They seem to be more concerned with their profits than customer safety or protection. You can get rooms cheaper on other websites than their own checkin Would I be going back? ?? Not 100% sure yet but 99.99% I won’t be returning

We would not hesitate to recommend this City Centre hotel. The rooms are not the biggest but more than enough space. The staff here are amazing. They are a credit to the chain. They deal with any problems quickly and most professionally. Thanks to them we had the most enjoyable stay…..thank you

This hotel is very cost-effective, as reflected in: 1. It is about 5 minutes walk from Sunderland train station and bus station. It is in the city center, and it is only 2 minutes walk to the bridges shopping mall. There are also many restaurants in the surrounding area. 2. Since it is a newly built hotel in 2022, the facilities are very new and modern, and the rooms are relatively clean. As a slightly clean freak, I am quite satisfied, but there are some unknown stains on the pillow, so I put on my own pillow cover. The reason for giving the facilities 4 stars is that the sound insulation effect is too poor. People passing by the door can clearly hear their speeches, but it is relatively quiet to sleep at night. 3. There are really not many choices for breakfast, and everyone feels tired of eating the next day. The price is not cheap, so I personally don't recommend eating buffet breakfast in the hotel. 4. Hotel staff are friendly and helpful. Summary: If you go to Sunderland again in the future, you will definitely consider living here again. Our third stay in 12 months. We enjoy the location of this hotel, so handy for bars and restaurants; no taxis required! The breakfast is also amazing, loads of choice, food is hot and fresh, tables always clean and staff are well organised and friendly. The beds are really comfortable, and shower has always been good, and rooms/linen always clean. We like the ice bucket provided and machine in the hall, the complimentary water and having robes and slippers in the room. Two small points that weren't great were as follows. We've never yet had a working fridge in our room. Not sure whether this is a service no longer offered for some reason, if there's a way to switch it on/request it to be on or if we're just unlucky and always get one that doesn't work! Not a major problem, just would be nice to have, or take it away so we don't think it should be working. The other point is just the general decor, as in marked/damaged paintwork, tired fittings, and in this bathroom, damp affecting the grout and shower cubicle fittings plus a big crack in the sink. More wear and tear than cleanliness, and hopefully general freshen up/ refurb is on the cards soon. Still a great hotel in a great location, we'll be back!

Stayed here for 2 nights and it was an amazing hotel , very clean , great staff and beautiful rooms . There is a thia restaurant attached to the hotel and their food was outstanding and the service was high quality . There was also a bar serving pub classics too and was very reasonably priced. I would defo stay here again and visit the restaurant as its a hidden little gem of a place.

My wife and I have stayed at this hotel about half a dozen times in the last 12-15 years in former Marriott days and now under the Elite Selection label. We have always loved its location and found it a good base forlocal and regional visits. We feared standards would fall under the present owners, but, although some economy measures are evident, the accommodation and decor have improved markedly over the last 12 months, and the staff are unbelievably friendly and helpful. We found receptionist Ronnie exceptionally friendly and facilitative, and nothing was too much trouble for housekeeping staff Ellie and Wilailak. The latter endeared herself to our grandchildren by responding to their teasing and joining in their little games. Everywhere was very clean and the food was plentiful. The pool and jacuzzi were a welcome afternoon base after spending the morning at the South Shields marine park and then the extensive funfair across the road. The following morning we went successfully searching for sea glass on Seaham's beaches.
