The ambience is the standout — quiet, green, and well laid out, with that resort-like feel that lets you actually unwind. The accommodation is cottage-style rather than a typical hotel block, which adds a lot to the experience: more privacy, more character, and a nice connection to the outdoors. On the amenities side, the property does more than tick boxes — the gym is well-equipped, the swimming pool is clean and inviting, and the games room was a real hit with the family. Easy to spend a relaxed half-day on the property itself without feeling restless. A solid recommendation if you want a calm, family-friendly base in Srinagar. "I traveled to Srinagar from December 24th to January 1st, 2024, and stayed at Wallisons Homestay in Srinagar for six nights, followed by two nights at their Peace Resort in Pahalgam. We were two couples (4 adults and 2 kids) Here's my honest review of the experience: I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Wallisons Homestay. The property is designed like an Airbnb, with a fully equipped kitchen and a cozy living room. Since it’s a new property, everything—from kitchenware to furniture—was top-notch. We loved the quality and comfort. The staff, particularly Mushtaq Bhai, and the house help were always a call away. Even the owner, Mehak, stayed in touch consistently, despite being out of the country. When snow disrupted our plans in Gulmarg, Mushtaq Bhai arranged an extra night’s stay seamlessly. The homestay is about 1 km from Dal Lake and farther from the Shikara ghats, but it’s conveniently located near markets, making it easy to grab groceries. The Peace Resort (another property of Wallisons in Pahalgam) had its pros and cons. The outdoor lawn and direct river access were fantastic, but the rooms were quite small, with an even tinier dining area. During breakfast, the house would fill with food smells, which wasn’t ideal. The property is 6-7 km from Pahalgam’s main market. While this isn’t a problem if you have your own vehicle, it can be challenging during snowstorms, as we experienced. However, the manager, Aizaz Bhai, and our driver, Shabbir Bhai, went the extra mile to arrange alternate transport and ensure we got back safely. Unfortunately, my trip was marred by a poor experience with a cab service recommended by Mehak—Aadil Tours and Travels. Here’s why: First of all they charged almost 30%+ rates that of market (which is okay because I knew that already before booking) but I still went ahead becuse of all the recommendations I got from the hotel itself. I was charged 21,500 for 7 days plus airport pick and drop (imagine paying more than 3k per day, while other operators were offering the same at 17k. and I booked the cab almost a month ago). However, with that exorbitant price, the travel operator did not provide all the services which we agreed on over the phone as I placed my trust on verbal communication and not documenting it. When raising this concern with the operator, he mentioned that "I am already losing money on with you on this trip" - seriously. Such a comment with someone whose entire business is dependent on tourism. Also, he mentioned that "bahas nahi karni hai mujhe". The same guy was absolutely a cheeesy person before I booked his cab. On top of it, the drivers were not that great too 1) would not be very keen on lending hand for luggage 2) would hardly recmmend any places to go 3) would keep on pushing to close the day as soon as possible. Last day when I had a chance to book another cab (becase Aadil refused to honor the verbal agreement), I had far better experience with a random driver - more vocal, helping you o"

The Vintage Srinagar at Dal Lake
"We chose this hotel because of its location directly across from Dal Lake, and we were genuinely excited about the stay. From the outside, it seemed like the perfect place to enjoy the beauty of Srinagar, and we arrived with very high expectations. Unfortunately, those expectations were shattered almost immediately. From the moment we entered, the staff was neither welcoming nor cooperative. We found several staff members to be rude, dismissive, and unwilling to help. Hospitality begins with how guests are treated, and sadly, that was missing throughout our stay. When we entered our room, it was not what we had paid for. While the room itself was acceptable, the advertised lake view was extremely disappointing. The “Dal Lake view” turned out to be a small window offering only a limited glimpse of the lake, whereas the room featured a large floor-to-ceiling window overlooking the parking area beside the hotel. It felt misleading and certainly not worth the premium we paid. Later that day, my three-year-old son accidentally marked the quilt with a few water-based sketch pen stains. As parents, we immediately acknowledged the mistake and explained to him that such behavior is not acceptable. We informed housekeeping and requested that the room be cleaned while we stepped out. Upon our return, instead of being approached privately and professionally, we were stopped at the front desk and informed—in front of other guests—that we would have to pay for the damage. We fully expected to bear reasonable cleaning costs and had no issue doing so. However, we were shocked when we were asked to pay ₹1,000 for a few sketch pen marks. The stains were from water-based sketch pens and could likely have been removed with basic stain treatment and washing. Even professional dry cleaning of a quilt would not typically cost anywhere near ₹1,000. When I pointed this out, the staff became argumentative. Rather than discussing the matter respectfully, they responded with remarks such as, “You don’t know how to wash,” and even suggested that I take the quilt and clean it myself if I believed the stains could be removed. I was genuinely surprised to hear such comments from staff representing a hotel that claims to provide quality hospitality. To demonstrate my point, I even showed them how similar sketch pen marks could be removed from fabric. Yet the attitude remained unprofessional and confrontational. As if that wasn’t enough, later when I wanted to make tea, I discovered that the kettle provided in the room was dirty. The mouth of the kettle had visible grime and stains that did not come off even after washing. Cleanliness is one of the most basic expectations from any hotel, and this was extremely disappointing. Overall, this stay was far below expectations. Between the poor customer service, misleading room experience, public embarrassment over a minor issue, and cleanliness concerns, I cannot recommend this hotel.
