"I found this B&B on the second day after arriving in Shanxi. It completely subverted my understanding of B&Bs. The decoration is simple and elegant, and there are no sanitary blind spots. The house is spacious and bright, with a good view. Well-equipped, convenient transportation, a lot of delicious food downstairs, and stalls with a sense of life. The front desk service is friendly and the parking is free. I love it. I think this is the best experience I've ever had at any hotel. If I have the chance to go to Datong again, I will stay there. "This hotel is located in the heart of the ancient city of Datong. Although there were few steps of staircase leading to the entrance of the hotel and the reception was on level 2 and our room type was only available on the 3rd level. Upon check in the hotel staff by the name of Xiao Guo was very helpful and she helped us to carry our luggages to our room at level 3.. There was a small window in our room overseeing the street. The room was spacious and very clean. All corners, fixtures and furnitures in our room were wiped very clean. All amenities were provided inside the room too. The bed mattress and pillow were soft and very comfortable. Body gel, hair shampoo, hair conditioner, hand wash and clothing detergent were all good quality. 2 water bottles, toothbrush, hair comb and slippers were provided in the room. There were space to hang our winter clothing and also washed socks and inner wears. The air-conditioner was superb as it can be adjusted to 4 types of air:normal, wet reduction, cold air and warm air, hence it made our stay more comfortable. There was also an air freshener machine in the room to refresh the air inside the room. So far this is the cleanest hotel room throughout all my China trips. The housekeeper was friendly and ensure the room being cleaned up daily. Overall, I would like to compliment the hotel staff by the name of Xiao Guo for her hospitality and kindness in helping us when we asked her for any information about Datong and places to eat. Xiao Guo always smilling and her warmness has let us felt very welcomed as a hotel guest. Another compliment was to be given to the housekeeper old lady who really did a great job to ensure the cleanliness of our hotel room and the entire hotel public areas. Highly recommended this hotel to all tourist."

"Incredible! The only minus is that it is not centrally located, so you'll have to take the taxi to the center (Old city), but it is in a lively neighbourhood. When you enter the building and see the elevator, you might have second thoughts for a moment (😉), but then...the ROOM! Huge, extra clean, ultra modern with brand new amenities, everything controlled at a touch of a button...Staff is very welcoming and attentive too. We loved it and couldn't recommend it more! Note: for some strange reason, the exact name of the hotel is Karen Boman hotel not the Sheng Gloria plaza (check building photo), so don't be confused when you get to the address. The entrance is on the right side of the building."

"I ordered a family room with three friends. There is no slot in this hotel except for the small room... The location of the hotel is very convenient and easy to find, where to go, health is good. I don’t know if Datong is good in customs, or I am lucky. The people I met are very good. From taxi drivers to the staff of major scenic spots, the aunts in the bathing center and the front desk of the hotel are very warm and considerate... On the first day, the aunt in the hotel restaurant saw that we used a microwave oven to heat the takeaway. She sent a bowl of noodles very enthusiastically. Today, we left the store and sent two bags of dried apricots and vinegar."

"This hotel offers incredible value for money, probably because consumer prices in Datong are generally low. The rooms are spacious, the decor is modern, the service is excellent, and the breakfast is fantastic. They offer a great mix of Chinese and Western options, with a few dishes changing daily, plus freshly made noodles and rice vermicelli bowls that are all delicious. It's also very close to Datong South Station, about a 15-minute walk, making it convenient for catching a train to Yixian to see the Wooden Pagoda. **Exquisite Double Buffet Afternoon Tea:** Although I didn't try it, it looked very rich and beautifully presented. p1-p3: Breakfast Restaurant p4: On the way to Datong South Station, it takes about 10 minutes to reach the overpass. p5: The passageway leads directly to the South Station, but the station square is quite large, so it's another 5-minute walk to the waiting area."

"Overall, it was decent. There's no actual door to the room, just an open common area and private lockers. The room is separated from the hallway by a curtain, so it can get a bit noisy with any sounds from the corridor. The heating in the room was extremely strong, almost suffocating, to the point where I couldn't sleep well and had to go downstairs for some fresh air in the middle of the night. Some of the shower facilities weren't great, and there was nowhere to put my toiletries."

"Overall, it's a great place. The whole room is smart-enabled, controlled by Xiao Ai (AI assistant). The hygiene is excellent. The bathroom has a wet/dry separation and a smart toilet, though the shower water was a bit inconsistent (fluctuating between hot and cold) in the morning. There's a projector that kids will love. The window faces the ancient city, and it's very convenient to get around. In the evening, there are street food stalls downstairs with delicious, crispy grilled sausages. The hotel also offers free drinks (coffee, orange juice, corn juice), and they provided complimentary fruit (an apple and a Wogan orange) upon check-in."
