"This is a very nice hot spring resort hotel. Finding it at this price during the New Year period is great value. The hotel is quite close to Carved Forest Station, or you can go to Gora; there's a free shuttle bus. If you're taking public transport, you can get off at Tenyu Station. The rooms are large, with balconies, a reasonable layout, separate wet and dry areas, and heating. The hotel itself has a hot spring. If you want to dine at the hotel, you need to make a reservation in advance. There are also restaurants nearby; I arrived quite late and had some yakiniku (grilled meat) nearby."

"I've stayed in many hot spring hotels in Japan, and this one offered the best value for money. The hotel is nestled by a mountain and a stream, and listening to the sound of flowing water at night is perfect for unwinding. It's also very close to Yumoto Station, making it more convenient to get to than the hot spring hotel I stayed at in Gora last time. While it's not a traditional Japanese building, the surrounding environment has a unique charm. For dinner and breakfast, the ingredients weren't particularly high-end, unlike some other hotels that offer Wagyu beef, but the taste and pairings were excellent. Plus, the cost of the wine list at dinner was included in the room rate – I didn't catch that initially and only had two glasses; if I had known, I would've ordered two more, haha. This time I traveled alone, but next time I'd like to bring my kids back."

"Staff members are all friendly and reliable with any of your inquiries. Better book in advance for breakfast and dinner because the whole place in Hakone they don't have much restaurant in the area. Even with a rental car with difficulties to find one. Overall the trip is all worth it."

"Great location, close to the train and funicular stations. There's a very pleasant park nearby, with a teahouse and workshops. I really liked the hotel itself – the atmosphere, the views from the windows, the living room, and the onsen – amazing. The kaiseki is luxurious, with lots of seafood. The onsen is simply lovely. So cozy and quiet. You can spend half an hour in a private one. Perhaps it's better for the hosts to make the welcome tea, because I asked if the tea was wrapped in paper (that's how we pack our tea), and they said yes, just pour water over it. It turned out we'd brewed matcha candy. It's fun, of course, but it would be great to avoid such incidents."

"A nice hotel that is a little distant from the nearest restaurants, shops and attractions. There’s a shuttle bus to the local railway station, which is useful but it stops at 6:00pm so after that you have to walk. It’s not too far but it is very steep. Our room was in need of refurbishment, with a stained carpet and tired fittings. That said it had everything we needed.  The onsen was a welcome facility which was very enjoyable. The ‘free-flow’ beverages from 18:00-20:00 was also a nice touch but we weren’t made aware of it and it would have passed us by if we hadn’t heard it being offered to other guests.  Dinner was very nice but a little odd, in the sense that there was no choice and was French cuisine; it was also quite expensive. Breakfast was average with undercooked bacon, good eggs, a nice yoghurt/compote combination but no preserves to have with the (one small) croissant. Service was very good."

"If you're looking for convenience, this is the place. It's situated right by Gora Station. The trade-off is the train noise, which starts around 6 AM and stops at 10 PM, so keep that in mind if you're a light sleeper. Both the lobby and the hot spring (onsen) are on the B1 level. I really enjoyed the breakfast buffet as there were many options to choose from. One thing to note is the central air conditioning system in the guest rooms."

"Great experience. The staff were lovely and the area is beautiful. Rooms are very homely and comfy. We went into the onsen both nights and it was great. We also got dinner both nights at the hotel and the food was good we were impressed. Overall it felt like a very personal stay and couldn't be happier. For some of the logistics if you are wanting to do the hakone main loop. We recommend coming in from Shinjuku on the romance car, take the montain train up to Gora and then the cable car to Sounzan. We then took a roughly 10min bus from Sounzan to Yuyu. The next morning we then took the same bus back to Sounzan and caught the first 9am ropeway fo start off the loop. We managed to avoid most of the crowds and it was very convenient. Once again couldn't recommend Yuyu enough thank you for the great stay!!"

"I went on a two-day, one-night hot springs trip from Tokyo to Hakone! My boyfriend and I were looking for a casual, two-day trip, and we decided on Hakone, a tourist destination with great hot springs and fresh air. First of all, there's a train from Shinjuku to Hakone, so it was very accessible. And once we arrived in Hakone, we could take the opposite train to Goura Station, the station closest to our accommodation, which was incredibly convenient! We decided to spend the first day of our two-day, one-night stay entirely in the hotel's hot springs and spend the second day sightseeing. The accommodation is located deep in the mountains, so there's nothing nearby, and the slopes are incredibly steep, making walking around the area difficult. I highly recommend buying snacks and drinks at Hakone Station or a convenience store before departure. If you contact the accommodation upon arrival at Goura Station, they'll come pick you up at Goura Station by car. Be sure to take advantage of their free pick-up service! The accommodation offers an open-air bath and a private bath, both of which can be rented for one hour. I highly recommend it, but if it's fully booked and you can't make it, you can always use the indoor family bath! Please be mindful of the opening times, as all hotel guests use it. :) I used the open-air bath after dinner and then enjoyed the hot springs in the family bath around noon, when there were no other guests. The hotel room doesn't have a separate shower, aside from a sink and toilet, so you'll need to bring a towel, a change of clothes, and shower supplies before entering the hot springs! If you're visiting, be sure to include meal service! As I mentioned earlier, the surrounding mountains mean there aren't any amenities. If you pay extra for meals when making your reservation, you'll receive a clean Japanese menu for dinner and breakfast. The staff were very friendly, and the meals were very satisfying. They even laid out bedding in the room for you during meals. The hotel will also provide a car to nearby Goura Station upon check-out, so just let them know! Afterwards, I took a cable car from Goura Station and traveled around Hakone. I had a great time taking a hot spring bath to relieve my fatigue from the previous day, breathing in the fresh air, and touring to the top of the mountain. :) I definitely recommend Kiritaniso Hotel for your trip to Hakone."

"The dinner and breakfast were great, and the hotel staff were friendly and helpful. At first, we got lost while finding the entrance, but a helpful staff member made an effort to lead us all the way to the reception area. The rooms are big and spacious but a little warmer than expected for my wife. It is just nice for me during autumn. The room we had was in a corner, and it had a great view!"

"I would recommend everyone to experience this ryokan at least once. A huge room with a kitchen, dining room, bedroom, bathroom, toilet and a hot bath. There is no window in the room with the bath, but because the bath is hot, you don't feel the coolness, but you can enjoy the views of the mountains. Dinner and breakfast - my respects! Gigantic and filling, but in the Japanese spirit. Fans of continental breakfasts in regular hotels will be sad. The staff is friendly. They try to speak English. It is not always possible to understand each other, but they try very hard! A special plus for this!"
