"March 20, 2026 The hotel is about a 22-minute walk from Otaru Bus Station. The furthest I walked was to the vicinity of the Music Box Museum, which took about half an hour. I walked everywhere to save on transportation costs, and I felt it was a pretty ideal distance. On my first day, after checking out from my previous hotel in Sapporo, I arrived around 1:30 PM local time. The day before, the Trip.com app concierge contacted the Chinese owner, who said I could check in early for free. So, upon arrival, I just entered the main door password, went inside, and used the iPad on the table to scan my passport photo for check-in. It was incredibly smooth. I was so tired that I slept until dark. The property is a detached house (a 'one-family build' villa) with two floors. Each room accommodates independent guests. Only my room (104) and another room on the first floor do not have private toilets or bathrooms; all other rooms have en-suite facilities. So, I only needed to coordinate my bathroom and shower times with one other guest. There are two public showers and one public toilet. During my stay, the other guest and I were very considerate when using the facilities, and it didn't affect our usage at all, which was great. Room 104 is the first room upon entering, which was very convenient for my oversized luggage. The private room itself was also very spacious. On the table were bath towels, hand towels, and a one-piece pajama. I slept very well. The value for money is super high, and I'm extremely satisfied."

"Following the navigation on Ctrip leads to the correct building, but Google Maps directs you to the annex, which is a five to six-minute walk away. The annex doesn't have a front desk; check-in is done via self-service machines. In the main building, Indian staff are available to assist with machine check-in. The hotel is conveniently located, just a three to five-minute walk from JR Station and Otaru Canal. The location is excellent, and the rooms are standard small. There's a public bathhouse available. However, the room rates are significantly higher than in Sapporo city."

"Facilities: The hotel is quite old, and while the facilities are in good condition, they aren't exactly modern. Surprisingly, there's a vintage audio system that plays music with a great ambiance from a bygone era. The sound quality also has that classic feel, which I loved. It's definitely worth experiencing this unique charm that other hotels don't offer. Service: Standard hotel service, but they upgraded my room without me even asking, which was a nice touch! Transportation: Even though the hotel is on a mountaintop, they offer a shuttle service to the nearest JR station, which is a huge plus. The Otaru Aquarium is just a few steps away, and the dolphin show is fantastic, plus the penguins are adorable. Scenery: This hotel probably boasts the most unique coastal cliff views in Otaru. It's truly postcard-worthy, and the best part is being able to enjoy it while soaking in the hot spring during the day. The scenery is beautiful and enjoyable. At night, however, you can't see anything. Hygiene: Standard hotel cleanliness. Food: I only stayed overnight and didn't try the food."

"This was truly an unforgettable experience: staying in a traditional Japanese ryokan. The moment I saw the entrance, I was amazed – it felt just like something out of an anime! The elderly hosts were incredibly kind. We happened to visit during Otaru's Snow Light Festival, so other ryokans in the area were quite expensive. This place offered good value for money, especially since my two friends and I shared a room. Inside, it's a standard Japanese inn. A nice touch was that the hosts provided a bucket of hot water daily, perfect for tea or instant noodles. The public bath closes at 11 PM, but if you return late, the hosts will kindly keep the door open for you until you've finished bathing. Coming back from sightseeing to a hot bath was absolutely blissful! The heating in the room was also fantastic; I felt like I could do laundry and it would dry overnight. Breakfast was a little different from what I expected. I'd seen reviews mentioning seafood bowls and such, but during my two-day stay, it was more on the simple side. It gave me a taste of what a traditional Japanese breakfast is truly like, and it was quite hearty. Overall, it was a very satisfying experience!"

"The room was spacious and very clean. Since it was off-season, the owner gave me a large room on the first floor. They even thoughtfully prepared water, bread, and milk. The owner was incredibly kind. When I first arrived, they told me about places to visit near Otaru. On the first day, I went to a nearby restaurant and had a seafood bowl. Later, I wanted to buy some snacks but didn't know where a supermarket was, so I asked the owner. They actually drove me there! The house is surrounded by many flowers, making for a beautiful environment, and it's super close to the sea. It's also very convenient, just a minute or two walk from the bus stop (bus route 11)."

"A small place to stay Not far from tourist attractions The host was very nice and came to welcome when I arrived. Various appliances are provided I really like the soap and shampoo here. If possible if I visit Otaru I will stay here again. But about parking, I'm not sure if there's only one parking space. If interested, you can inquire with the owner of the room."

"The spacious family room was very clean, and I slept soundly until morning. It comfortably fit 6 adults, including junior high school students and older. However, I was told there would be space for 3 cars in the parking lot, but there were already 3 sedans parked there, so it wasn't possible. Even if it were empty, the extremely steep slope and narrow space would require considerable skill to park (TT). We ended up parking in a lot about a 5-6 minute walk away, which cost 600 yen for a maximum of 12 hours. The bathroom is located straight ahead from the entrance, and there's no changing area, so it would have been reassuring to have a partition or space for towels. Also, there are no curtains on the kitchen window immediately above, which required some care."

"Facilities: Ski gear doesn't include ski suits. The overall experience was just okay, probably because it was my first time skiing. Environment: But it was really beautiful. Service: There were a lot of rules, as pictured. I checked in late and couldn't shower in my room. The staff were accommodating and let me use a shower for ten minutes. Hot Springs: The hot springs were fantastic with floor-to-ceiling windows offering snow views. There were also outdoor hot springs, and the sauna temperature was just right. I just didn't like seeing young boys brought into the area."
