I cannot love this hotel more! Sweet and personal service, best demonstrating South Asian hospitality! The room was spacious, clean and well maintained! The crew was very professional and helped me with transportation and communication! They were so happy seeing me back every night, which made me feel so welcomed! The catering there is really good and I recommend the Sri Lankan breakfast - I cannot find rotti tastier than there’s! I’ve been to so many hotels, and none has offered me such good hospitality before - the professionalism + the human touch! I really love them!

The Good The standout feature of The Coffee Bungalow is undoubtedly its staff, particularly Adrian, who went above and beyond to ensure our stay was enjoyable. Everyone we encountered was attentive and genuinely warm, making us feel well cared for. The food was another highlight—delicious and thoughtfully prepared. A particularly nice touch was when they packed us a complimentary to-go lunch for our train journey out of Kandy, which was a pleasant and unexpected gesture. The Bad The lack of air conditioning was a notable downside, especially given Kandy’s humidity. While the property has a charming colonial feel, the absence of a solid door between the bedroom and bathroom was an odd design choice. Although the toilet and shower do have louvered doors, privacy is somewhat compromised. Another issue was the challenging entry system—we found ourselves locked out one night, which was frustrating and inconvenient. The Ugly Unfortunately, the biggest drawback was the ant problem. While some level of bugs is to be expected in a tropical setting, the sheer number of ants, particularly in the bathroom but also in the bedroom, was hard to ignore. It definitely impacted our overall comfort. Overall, The Coffee Bungalow has a lot of charm and some truly wonderful hospitality, but there are a few quirks and inconveniences that might not suit every traveler. If you’re prepared for a bit of rustic charm and can handle the lack of AC and privacy, the warm service and great food may make up for the downsides.

Атмосфера в отеле очень дружелюбная — чувствуется, что здесь действительно заботятся о гостях. Я отлично выспалась и по-настоящему отдохнула. Утром меня бесплатно угостили кофе и предложили завтрак. Ещё удалось познакомиться с интересными и приятными людьми, которые тоже там жили — получилось очень живое и тёплое общение. Отдельный плюс — потрясающие виды на весь город: панорама просто шикарная. Да, отель расположен не совсем рядом с центром, но я на байке, поэтому цена и качество полностью это компенсируют. С удовольствием рекомендую это место — если хотите уюта, заботы и человеческого отношения 🤍

This is an extraordinary hotel!!! Such an interesting design!!! Dining and dinner in the hotel! Dinner brought on the balcony! The views from the balcony are just amazing!!!! The breakfast was very satisfactory! Everything very, very delicious!!!! The room has everything you need - teapot, TV, fan, hot water in the shower. We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel!!!

A Hidden Gem – Perfect Honeymoon or Quiet Getaway This place is truly a hidden gem. It was the perfect spot for a honeymoon couple or anyone looking for a peaceful, quiet getaway. Travel tip: From Colombo, you can catch a direct bus to Nuwalapitiya. We didn’t know this and went via Kandy, which made the journey longer than necessary. If we had known, we would have taken the direct bus—it’s much easier. Ps:The bus ride is phenomenal—very beautiful views along the way and very cheap. The property is located on a hill and is naturally beautiful, surrounded by trees and birds whose songs make the atmosphere even more serene. It does get a bit cold at night, but it was the perfect kind of chilly—cozy and refreshing. Our room had an amazing view, making it even more special. The stay itself was perfect for our honeymoon: very cozy, comfortable, and clean. The staff were amazing, especially one gentleman at the restaurant (I didn’t catch his name, but I want to mention him). He went above and beyond to help us and was incredibly sweet and warm-hearted—it really made our stay special. A small note: we noticed the pool looked a bit dirty, which some other reviews also mentioned. However, it was clarified in the pool area that they use natural spring water without chemicals, so this is expected and actually a great eco-friendly approach. But This hotel needs some love because this is a very nice place. Another small note: there were some insects, like cockroaches, but that’s expected when staying on a hill in the middle of nature surrounded by trees. Overall, this was a truly wonderful experience and a perfect spot to relax, unwind, and enjoy nature. Highly recommended!!

had pleasure of staying at this hotel, and I couldn't be more impressed with the level of service and hospitality we received. From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable and memorable. The team was incredibly helpful in arranging transportation and suggesting places to visit. They recommended we attend the Tooth Relic Procession and suggested us to visit a waterfall, which turned out to be the most breathtaking waterfall I've ever seen. Their local knowledge truly enhanced our experience. When our cab dropped us off in the mid , the hotel staff immediately came to pick us up in tuk-tuk. The staff was consistently polite and accommodating, making us feel welcome and valued throughout our stay. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a place where the staff genuinely cares about making your stay special. Thank you for the experience!

It's fate that I went to Sri Lanka for the second time. I went there in October last year. It rained heavily almost every day. It happened to rain heavily when I was in Kandy. I took shelter from the rain in front of this hotel. The clerk warmly invited me to rest inside and ordered ice cream. I actually booked this hotel for the first time. The location is great and it’s right by the lake.

We arrived at the hotel quite late, and the doorman immediately opened the gate for us as soon as he heard our car pull up. The privacy here is excellent, and the environment is incredibly quiet. The faint sound of a bamboo flute subtly eased away the fatigue from our day of travel. Our room was very clean and tidy. In the evening, they even helped us order takeout for a delicious meal – very nice! The service was incredibly thoughtful. In the morning, breakfast was delivered to our room, and enjoying it on the terrace, immersed in the beautiful natural scenery, was a wonderful experience!
