Villa Astoria

Coming by bus from the Catania airport, this hotel was just perfect for us at it is across the street from the bus terminal. Also useful if you decide to travel in the area. The room was basic but had a great view with a small balcony with two chairs. The breakfast was very good. The bathroom was dark and the shower small. Plenty of hot water and good wifi signal. Good deal for the price.

Perfect B&B for a short stay. Everyone at Villa Astoria was very helpful. The room was comfortable with an amazing view. Good bedding & towels. Just as important it is in a fantastic location, easy walk up to Taomarina and opposite the bus station, so from here you can get just about anywhere in the area. Also only a short walk from the cable car down to the beach. Quiet at night. We had an early bus to catch on our day of departure so Giuseppe opened up breakfast early for us . Thanks again.

We stayed here for nine nights. Most of the positives have already been said by other reviewers; small and friendly, well located for transport connections and restaurants, lovely views from the superior rooms, clean, bright and airy rooms and an adequate breakfast. The only negative, over which the hotel has no control, is that it is on a main road. There is a drain across the road outside the hotel and every time a vehicle drives over it, it goes clank clank. As the morning traffic starts to develop the noise is enough to wake you up. Two things the hotel could improve on; First, our rom was spacious but there was only a small wardrobe with one shelf. There were no drawers so storage space was limited. Where do you keep tee shirts, underwear, socks, shorts etc.? The room was easily large enough to take a chest of drawers. Second, there was no tea and coffee making facilities in the room. We know this is often the case in Europe, but providing it would improve the hotel and make for a more comfortable stay, particularly if you're the sort of person who likes a cup of tea in the morning while you're still in your pyjamas and when you get back in the afternoon after sightseeing. Apart from the hotel, we regretted having booked to stay for so long in Taormina. It is very expensive, much more expensive in every way than Lake Garda, where we stayed earlier in the summer. It is packed with tourists and is uncomfortably crowded. There is a cable car down to the beach but a trip down and then back up costs 10 euros. The so-called beaches are awful, narrow *****s of grey, co****, volcanic sand, packed with regimented lines of sunbeds for hire at 30 euros a day. After a few days we ran out of things to do. We walked the streets, went to the amphitheatre, walked up to the castle (closed when you get there), had an excursion to Mount Etna and another to a couple of hilltop villages, but then we were stuck. It is a two hour trip to Siracusa and a three hour trip to Agrigento so we didn't bother. In our opinion, Taormina might be worth visiting for a few days as part of a tour of Sicily but not as a holiday destination in itself.

Loved this little gem of a hotel! The two Giuseppes,Anna and Mauro make you feel as though you are part of the family for the stay. Luciana the the family dog is adorable! From the informative check in by the 1st Giuseppe to the delicious breakfasts with cuppacino made with love from the second Giuseppe,I can not say enough good things about the experience. The view is spectacular from the premium sea view rooms where the sunrise and sunset are visible.

Me and my boyfriend stayed here in March 2023 for a few nights. Really fresh and well cleaned rooms with an amazing view! Breakfast was also really good. They made us freshly squeezed juice every morning, best juice i've ever had. The staff gave us great tips for resturants and places to go sightseeing. I highly recommend this place and hope i get a chance to come back here. You don't get this kind of personalized service from anyone else, especially not from a big hotel chain.

This Hotel is an excellent choice. There is a beautiful sea view from the room balcony. It is located walking distance from the centre of Taormina, it is easy to get to the beach as well. There is also the main bus station just in front of the hotel, which can be very useful as well. It is a hotel where everybody takes care for its guests’ wellbeing. Rooms are properly equipped and they have all need, they are really clean. Breakfast is good, always fresh biscuits are available, as well as an excellent coffee by your choice. What more can I say that hasn’t already been said about this little gem of a B &B. If you are looking for bars, entertainment and swimming pools then this place isn’t for you. But if you want spotlessly clean rooms with awesome views and friendly attentive service from Giuseppe morning and Giuseppe afternoon and make friends with resident collie Lucy then look no further. We had a wonderful stay at Villa Astoria and hope to return in the not too distant future.

A lovely little hotel within a few minutes walk of the cable car down to the beaches and the centre of Taormina. The rooms are basis but very clean with spectacular views of the bay. The staff were lovely and were extremely helpful when we had questions about our onward travel.

Mauro and the two Giuseppes were very hospitable giving us many suggestions to the excellent restaurants within walking distance in Taormina. The hotel, across the street from the bus station, was an ideal location, and a 10 minute walk to the main area. We had a superior sea view room with a balcony with 2 chairs and little table. The view was fantastic overlooking the coastline! We had more than an adequate continental breakfast, and great coffee. We would return to Villa Astoria in a heartbeat!
