"This was my first time in Yangzhou, and I'm so glad I booked this Mercure hotel. From the moment I walked in, all the staff were incredibly warm and polite. The hotel is conveniently located right by Dongguan Street, making it easy to get around, and there's parking available downstairs if you're driving. We were even given a complimentary room upgrade, which was a lovely surprise! The upgraded room had an amazing view; I could see the Grand Canal directly from the balcony. The room also had many thoughtful little touches, like a toilet seat cover and face towels. After checking out, I accidentally left something behind, and the hotel proactively called me and arranged to mail it back. My overall experience with both Yangzhou and the Mercure hotel was absolutely fantastic!"

"The hotel is located in Yangzhou's old town, surrounded by residential areas, making it very convenient for dining and shopping. There are also two authentic Huaiyang cuisine restaurants nearby, the kind where there's always a queue. Although this Ibis hotel is a bit old, the rooms are clean and tidy, and all the facilities work very well. The front desk service is excellent, and they offer free luggage storage, which is great."

"This was by far the most comfortable stay I've ever had. Building 8's decor isn't the traditional 'old money' or 'cadre' style of a five-star hotel; it's quite minimalist, perfect for a relaxing getaway. The staff were excellent. When they learned I preferred a quieter room, they proactively upgraded me for free to a room away from the Quyuan (some rooms near Quyuan can be disturbed by early morning calls starting at 6:30 AM). The room's amenities, including the turndown service, were all top-notch and clearly superior to standard chain five-star hotels. The hotel's garden scenery is beautiful and well worth the price. When checking out, I asked to keep my room key as a souvenir. You can also request a customized souvenir key, but it takes 15 minutes to make, and I was short on time, so I just took the original. There are two main downsides: firstly, the express lane to Slender West Lake still requires a ticket. I don't quite understand why, when they offer free travel photography and hot springs, they don't include the 100 RMB entrance fee. Also, the express lane is only open from 8 AM to 5 PM, meaning you can't use it for a night visit to Slender West Lake. Of course, this isn't an issue with Building 8 itself but rather with the entire Yangzhou State Guesthouse group. The other flaw is that breakfast is quite average, and they mandate buying breakfast for two. For a solo traveler like me who also wanted to try the Three Spring Restaurant outside, it felt a bit wasteful. However, these minor issues don't overshadow the overall experience. For a relaxing vacation, and if you're not overly sensitive about the price, Building 8 is undoubtedly the best choice. On a side note, reservations for the Hill Restaurant and Quyuan are genuinely difficult to get. Quyuan's taste isn't necessarily better than the Three Spring Restaurant; its price mainly reflects the view. The Hill Restaurant's food, however, is indeed excellent, far better than the superficial offerings of places like the Peace Hotel."

"The room facilities, environment, and surrounding area were all great, and the service was good too. I accidentally booked a king-size bed room, but they were able to change it to a twin room and even upgraded it for me. The only issue was the soundproofing; I could clearly hear conversations happening outside the door, which was quite disruptive early in the morning. Everything else was fine."

"I wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to everyone! Facilities: The whole place is smart-enabled, very responsive and convenient. Hygiene: Extremely clean, not a single flaw to be found, both in the room and public areas. Environment: Thoughtfully designed and very trendy in its decor. Service: The service is what I'm most satisfied with. Every single staff member greets you proactively and offers assistance. We drove here, and the security guard on the first floor not only helped us without being asked but also gave us travel tips. He even quietly washed our car in the evening – I was truly touched. Every staff member we encountered over these two days made us feel incredibly welcome, adding a wonderful touch to our trip. They even gave us a farewell gift when we checked out. If I ever come back, I will definitely stay at this hotel again. Breakfast was very diverse and plentiful."

"Although the hotel was built in 2012 and renovated in 2018, the environment is still excellent. Due to good maintenance, the facilities and equipment are relatively new. The carpets and marble are very clean, and the housekeeping is thorough. The hotel doorman service is attentive and friendly to guests. The front desk staff provided excellent service and even upgraded our room. The day before we left Shanghai, customer service specifically called to ask if we had any special requests for our room and which train we were taking to Yangzhou, so they could arrange an early check-in for us if possible. When we checked out, they even gave us a local Yangzhou souvenir. The hotel's Chinese restaurant offers unique dishes that taste great, and the prices are quite reasonable. The waitstaff are polite and diligent. The breakfast offers a wide variety of Chinese and Western pastries, and the ingredients are fresh. The executive lounge is open for nearly 20 hours a day, providing guests with snacks, drinks, light meals, a place to relax and chat, and convenient small bites. All in all, our group of six was very satisfied with our stay at the Shangri-La Hotel Yangzhou, and we believe it offers excellent value for money."

"Excellent! Very satisfied, the facilities are complete. It's great value for money. Getting to Dongguan Street, Ge Garden, and He Garden isn't too far. The front desk service is superb; every time we asked for information, they were incredibly enthusiastic and gave excellent suggestions, even helping us avoid potential issues. It's still quite cold in Yangzhou in the mornings and evenings, though it warms up a bit at noon, and they'd advise us to wear more layers when going out – truly like family. They proactively addressed our needs during our stay and basically solved any problems we had immediately, enhancing our experience. It's really wonderful, five-star rating!"

The room isn't actually small; I thought 20 square meters would be tiny, but it's quite spacious in reality, and the computer desk is very convenient. The bathroom is a bit small though."

Ruan Yuan's ancestral home was in Yizheng, Jiangsu Province. He was born in a family of officials in Yangzhou in the 29th year of Emperor Qianlong's reign. His grandfather was a military scholar and served as a general in Hunan. His father entered the imperial academy at a young age and studied "Zuo's Spring and Autumn Annals", becoming a master of classical prose. His mother, Lin, also came from an official family and was well-versed in poetry and literature, with good cultivation. Growing up in such a family, Ruan Yuan was influenced by his family's learning from an early age and gradually became a renowned talent in both literature and martial arts. At the age of 25, Ruan Yuan passed the imperial examination and entered the officialdom. Ruan Yuan not only held high positions but was also a staunch guardian of Yangzhou's culture. He compiled "Jingji Zanggu" and edited and printed "Thirteen Classics with Commentaries and Sub-commentaries", his cultural achievements shining like stars in Yangzhou's cultural heritage. Mr. Ruan Yuan dedicated his life to cultural inheritance and academic research. The "Jingji Zanggu" he compiled collected the essence of ancient annotations and interpretations, providing an important basis for later generations to study classics. The "Thirteen Classics with Commentaries and Sub-commentaries" he edited and printed, with its rigorous academic attitude in correcting classics, became an important model for the study of classics. The "Huangqing Jingjie" he compiled and printed was a comprehensive collection of Qing Dynasty's research on classics. His academic philosophy of "seeking truth from facts and not believing without evidence" not only influenced the academic atmosphere of an era but also became a shining spiritual treasure in the Chinese cultural heritage. The rockery is wrong, the pond and marsh are curved, the clear spring flows, the brocade scales swim, and the "Fengwan Pavilion" is winged, quiet and resting. The house has a double bed room, a family room, a bathtub room, the whole house is intelligent, and pets are accommodated.
