"I stayed one night at Kame-no-i Hotel Tazawako in May 2026, traveling by car and looking forward to the hot springs. We booked three single Japanese-style rooms this time, and overall, it was a very satisfying stay. The cost performance is excellent, and it's a hotel I'd definitely want to visit again. I'd rate it 4.5 stars. 🚗 Location & Parking: Convenient for those traveling by car I drove there, and the access was straightforward, with a spacious and easy-to-use parking lot. I think it's a convenient location for anyone exploring the Lake Tazawa area by car. 🛏️ Room: Spacious and Clean Although it was a single room, it was larger than I expected and even had a sofa. Despite its compact size, it had all the necessary amenities and was practical. Since it was a room where you take off your shoes upon entering, it felt very clean and comfortable. On the other hand, the heating felt a bit too strong and was hard to adjust; turning on the AC made it too cold. The futon was also a bit thin, and it would have been even better if it were warmer. Also, the view from the window was mostly a wall, so there wasn't much of a scenic outlook. It used an old-fashioned key, which was a bit finicky, making me slightly concerned about security. ♨️ Hot Springs: Both Indoor and Outdoor Baths were Comfortable The hot springs were very enjoyable overall. The water quality was relatively mild, without the strong slimy feel of sulfur springs, but both the indoor and outdoor baths were comfortable. It wasn't too crowded, which allowed for a relaxing soak, which was a plus. However, the outdoor bath felt a little too exposed, and considering the surrounding environment, I was slightly worried about bears, which was a minor safety concern. 🧴 Facilities: Basically Satisfied Towels and amenities were well-stocked, and I didn't experience any inconvenience. The Wi-Fi was fast and easy to use. However, my room was in the East Wing, and I had to carry my suitcase up to the second floor, which could be challenging if you have a lot of luggage. 🙋 Service: Friendly and English-Speaking Staff were Reassuring The front desk staff were very friendly, had a good sense of humor, and welcomed us warmly. They were also fluent in English, and their explanations were easy to understand. Check-in and check-out were smooth, making our stay worry-free. 🍽️ Dining: Two Meals + Late-Night Snack, Highly Satisfied With two meals included and a complimentary late-night tantanmen (spicy noodle soup), the dining experience was incredibly satisfying. There was a wide variety of dishes, the food tasted great, and we enjoyed unique menu items made with local ingredients. Overall, despite a few minor concerns, considering the room size, cleanliness, hot springs, meals, and staff service, I believe this hotel offers excellent value for money. I highly recommend it to anyone traveling by car or looking for a hot spring getaway around Lake Tazawa. I would love to visit again if I have the chance."

"The room was okay, pretty standard. They have hot springs, but using them is such a hassle. Women need a key card to enter, and you have to go to the front desk every single day to get a new one. If you don't, you can't get in – it's incredibly inconvenient. Plus, there are only two massage chairs, and one of them was broken. Why isn't it fixed? Just one working massage chair is nowhere near enough. And there's only one indoor hot spring, which feels very basic."

"Second stay, and as good as ever! There are buses to Shin-Tamagawa Onsen from bus stop number 2 at Tazawako Station. Bus schedules vary in winter, so be sure to check the times! The hotel offers snow activities in winter, which require advance reservations. The hotel has several Chinese-speaking staff, which was very helpful for me as I don't speak English or Japanese. The hotel service was excellent! Breakfast and dinner were also quite good, with relatively healthy meals. The hotel's most unique feature is its acidic hot spring with a pH of 1.13. The hot spring pools are numerous and very clean, making it worth visiting multiple times."

"A new and clean hotel. It's located behind a roadside station, so you can do some light shopping within the station's operating hours. You have to drive to get to convenience stores and restaurants, but the nearest ones are less than a 5-minute walk away. The fact that you can choose between a high-temperature and low-temperature sauna, and that the saunas are spacious, is a big plus. The parking lot is far away, which is inconvenient when it's raining."

"First of all, I booked this hot spring hotel on Saturday and it cost me 33,600 yuan. I thought I could live in a big room, but everything became a mess after two sleeping mats were laid out at dinner time. We couldn't open our luggage because there was no place, and we had to jump to go to the bathroom because there was no way to go. I was really angry. I booked this hotel because it is a LA VISTA group, but the food, both the ingredients and the taste are worth the price. There are also many snacks, water, Yakult, and fresh milk in the lounge after the hot spring, but there is no juice. This is what I find strange. In addition, we often pass by the counter, and the waiters treat you as air. Anyway, the way of this hotel is to come and go. Just now we checked out and put on our shoes, and they turned around when we said byebye, and didn't even come to the door. Am I really expecting too much?"

"The location is excellent, next to train station and in front of the bus bay for the airport limousine. The rooms are good size and I highly recommend it for anyone who will traveling in our or of Akita by train or airport transfer early in the Morning because it really is so nearby. And if Akita is your last city for your flight, the space in the room is so good for repacking. Bed is comfortable (firm, I had good sleep), they provide 2 pillows. The amenities are pretty standard. They have a shower and bath tub which is great for a soak after a day out. Highly recommended this hotel. I stayed in another hotel in Akita for the start of my trip and I highly recommend The Metropolitan."

"My Japanese friends told me once you stay at a Dormy Inn, you'll fall in love with it, and I totally agree. It really excels in value for money: not only does it have excellent hot springs (offering multiple baths, cold plunges, and saunas), which many more expensive onsen hotels don't even provide. The various little services are also very thoughtful (while it's true they don't offer soba noodles or a bottle of Yakult, you'll still be touched by their attentive service). Plus, you can do laundry. If you have tattoos, you can buy some tattoo cover-ups beforehand. Although they're not super strict, there are signs indicating no visible tattoos. The room is small, and the bathroom is tiny, but for a one-night stay, it's perfectly fine. For around 300 yuan, what more could you ask for? Overall, I think it's very convenient and has a lot of character. If you're visiting a new city and don't have a specific hotel in mind, Dormy Inn is a pretty good choice. (It's definitely a significant step up from APA, Toyoko, or Smile hotels)."

"The hotel has a very good location. Although not immediately next to the JR station, it's a short and easy walk to get to the hotel from Akita Station. When you see the Museum of Art in the photo, you are arriving. Also, the famous Senshū Park is just across from the street. It's a grand hotel with nice rooms. The staff are friendly and professional. It's not far from the bar district. There are many interesting bars over there. After a couple of drinks, you can just walk back to the hotel."

"The services provided by the staff were very personalized such as asking directly during dinner service the day before if I needed shuttle services to the JR station and helping to reserve when I said yes. The ryokan has both private and public onsen which are open 24/7. Private onsen does not require reservation and can be used as long as it’s vacant. The few times I used the public onsen at night, I only bumped into one person so it was nice. The ryokan is by the lake and the bus stop (for both the loop service and the one heading to Nyuto onsen) is within 1 minute walk so the location is perfect."

"This hotel is right next to a underground rock concert shop. It has frequent tenants who played there or attend the concerts there. If you are driving , you won’t be able to get their parking slots as it mostly reserved for the regulars. The nearby parking lots charges 400 Y from 4pm-8am so if you arrive shortly after check in time and decide to head out early the next day, you may use the 2 carparks that is right beside the hotel. If you can’t make it in time, the hotel cheapest parking option is behind Lawson where they have monthly season parking lots. It’s 600 yen per night from 3pm to 10am. room wise, price to value is below average probably becos of high demand in the vicinity. As for cleanliness, can be better improve. My aircon filter and air filter machine was producing really moldy and smell air , probably from previous guests who sweated in the room. Was a big turn off lucky I came during autumn, can just open the window to get cold air in."
