"This was my second trip to Hakone, and since I was traveling with my 70-year-old parents, I chose Hakone Yutowa Hotel for its convenient location. The hotel is only 400 meters from Gora Station, about a 7-minute walk on flat ground. It's also super close to Gora Park, though that involves an uphill climb. We stayed for three days and two nights. Breakfast and dinner were both buffet style with unlimited drinks and alcohol. They offer afternoon tea from 3 PM to 7 PM, and an evening bar time from 7:30 PM to 10:30 PM. After soaking in the hot springs, complimentary ice cream and milk were a lovely touch. Everything was absolutely wonderful; I'm so glad we chose Yutowa Hotel."

"Absolutely loved it! The 4.8 rating is well-deserved; this is hands down the best capsule hotel I've ever stayed in. The bunk beds are designed to create individual private rooms facing opposite directions, each with a safe, offering excellent privacy and security. Don't miss the massage chairs in the common area on your floor. Downstairs, there's a hot spring bath ♨️, and if you arrive late, you can book a private bath at the front desk – it's incredibly refreshing to enjoy it alone! After your soak, there's even ice cream available, which is fantastic! In the mornings, they offer free breakfast, and in the evenings, complimentary instant noodles. The location is superb, right in Chinatown, across from the Kuan-ti Temple, with countless delicious food options nearby. The front desk service is impeccable; all the staff are super nice. I'd love to come back and stay again. Highly recommended!"

"The location is fantastic! It's directly connected to two famous Yokohama shopping malls via an underground passage, including a Minato Mirai subway station, making dining and transportation incredibly convenient. Right in front of the hotel is an amusement park, which has free entry but you pay for individual rides. Within a few minutes' walk, you can reach the CupNoodles Museum and the World Porters shopping mall across from it. The Red Brick Warehouse is also a bit further away. The geographical location is truly excellent. There's a Keikyu bus connection to Haneda Airport, so it's very easy to take the bus directly to the hotel after landing. Just remember to book your return bus to the airport in advance via your phone, otherwise, you might not get a seat on the day of departure. If you're heading to Hakkeijima Sea Paradise, the same Keikyu bus from the hotel entrance can take you there. The room facilities are a bit dated but clean and tidy, and they provide a bottle of purified water per person daily. The only drawback is the lack of self-service laundry facilities, and there are none nearby either. Guests staying for an extended period should remember to bring enough clothes."

"Overall, my stay was very satisfying. The hotel environment is quiet and comfortable; the moment you walk in, you feel a sense of relaxation, making it perfect for a weekend getaway. The room was clean and tidy, with a cozy atmosphere, and the bedding was soft, ensuring a very comfortable sleep. The hot springs are definitely the highlight of this hotel. The water is clear, and the temperature is just right, leaving you feeling completely relaxed after a soak. The different pools are also thoughtfully designed, with unique characteristics for both indoor and outdoor options. The outdoor hot springs, in particular, offer a truly delightful experience in a natural setting. Service also deserves praise. The staff were friendly and patient in answering any questions, making me feel well looked after. All in all, it was a very relaxing and pleasant stay. If I have the chance in the future, I would definitely consider coming back and highly recommend it to anyone looking to rest well and enjoy some hot springs."

"The hotel was very conveniently located next to the train station. Although it was a very “ basic” business hotel, it was perfect for us. The room was sufficient for our stay and although the washroom is a bit small, we fully made use of the in house onsen! The hotel breakfast is also amazing with a wide variety of Japanese breakfast and some western options as well. In the evening, they also have open beverage bar, which include included some Umeshu! My friend forgot her skincare products but the hotel had sample products for us to use making these stay very comfortable and very pleasant. Highly recommend this business hotel if you’re operating on a budget."

"I booked a one-night, two-meal package at this hotel. The room was a Japanese-style tatami room. The hotel is a 12-minute walk from Hakone-Yumoto Station and has a very distinctive ambiance with its courtyard, waterfall, and koi fish. The staff were attentive and detail-oriented. The dinner offered a wide variety of dishes, including sashimi, sushi, and tempura. What left the deepest impression was the natural hot spring, which provided a truly delightful and relaxing experience for both body and mind!"

"The experience was even more stunning than the pictures online, truly feeling like a Nordic forest retreat. Location: After getting off the bus, there's a bit of a slope to climb. You can call the hotel in advance for a pick-up at the stop, and they also offer a drop-off service to a nearby bus stop after check-out, which is excellent service. Environment: Being deep in the mountains, it genuinely captures the essence of a forest vacation home. Everything is wonderful, from the buildings connected by wooden walkways to the open-air staircase landscape and the forest cafe and reception area. Each room boasts an independent window view, and even the hot spring pool offers great scenery. Breakfast is plentiful, and the coffee and ice cream from the mini-fridge are complimentary. There's also a DIY tea-making station. Upon check-in, they thoughtfully discuss your itinerary, making it easy for them to pick you up at the bus stop when you return in the evening – very considerate."

"This hotel is absolutely stunning.  The view of Lake Ashi from our room was truly breathtaking.  The staff were incredibly helpful throughout our stay, and the buffet dinner was delicious with plenty of variety.  The location is excellent — just a short distance from the ropeway and the sightseeing cruise. You can also take the No. 3 bus from Togendai directly to the hotel, which helped us save money on taxi fares.   There’s a large shopping complex right next door, and I highly recommend the bakery, the staff were wonderful and the pastries were excellent.   We did experience a typhoon during our stay, and a little more advance warning from the hotel would have been appreciated.  However, we were able to leave early enough to avoid and arrived safely at our next hotel."

The room was quite spacious, and being right by the sea, I could enjoy ocean views from the window. The location is super convenient – it's only about 300-400 meters from the Big Ferris Wheel, 700-800 meters from the Red Brick Warehouse, 200 meters from the Convention Center, and 300-400 meters from the Portside Shopping Area. Chinatown is roughly 1.3 km away, and Noge Yokocho is about 1.2 km. Absolutely fantastic location!

Large resort in the scenic Hakone area with a pleasing garden view of Mt. Fuji. The Hotel Green Plaza Hakone can be reached from Odawara Station via a 50 minute bus ride up a winding mountain road. It has easy access to the Ropeway's Ubako stop, from which you can get to Lake Ashi and other tourist places. The hotel is not new, but its rooms are decent and quite large by local standards. It offers wedding services and has good amenities including a spa and public bath. While it's somewhat isolated from other shops and restaurants, guests can enjoy a sumptuous buffet style breakfast and dinner with an extensive choice of Japanese foods. The service when my wife and I were there was beyond reproach and we enjoyed our stay. Unfortunately, the Ropeway was a disappointment, since views were completely hidden by a thick fog. We did get some memorable views of Mt. Fuji rising out of the mist.

Thanks to other guests for mentioning the transportation in their reviews. Getting to the hotel from Odawara was a bit of a hassle, but once I arrived, I felt it was absolutely the right choice. The hotel's location is excellent, with mountain views from the room, and it's clean and tidy. The free, unlimited ice cream at the hotel is delicious and definitely deserves a special shout-out. Breakfast was plentiful, and the dinner buffet was fantastic, with all-you-can-eat sashimi and unagi don, plus surprisingly tasty lobster, and a wide selection of drinks. That evening, I enjoyed the outdoor hot spring all to myself, facing a waterfall and forest – it was incredibly relaxing. The hotel's shuttle bus is very convenient! The staff were very attentive and detailed in their service, with great attitudes and thorough explanations! Apart from the tricky transportation, everything else was wonderful.

We stayed one night with our family. We booked two Japanese-style rooms. The rooms were very nicely decorated. We visited the onsen. There are three different onsen: one inside the building, one across the street, and a separate private onsen. The water was a comfortable temperature, there weren't many people there, and there were pools both inside and outside. We ordered dinner and a kaiseki breakfast: delicious and varied. You can order drinks as well. In the morning after breakfast, a staff member gave us a free ride to Gora Station, which saved us a lot of time and effort. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

This hotel is a paradise in the mountains of Hakone! Traditional style of the rooms - it feels like you are living in a Japanese family. We were prepared a traditional dinner, which was served in our room. It was very tasty and varied! The hotel has 3 onsen: 2 - private, 1 - public. We visited only the private ones (you need to book a time in advance at the reception upon check-in, the visit time is 30 minutes). It was wonderful! The hotel also provides a transfer from and to the nearest train stations. The rooms are clean, cozy, we slept on tatami under soft blankets. The hotel has a relax room. With massage chairs and a very quiet atmosphere. We stayed in this room after visiting the onsen and got great relaxation. And you are also given national clothes for rest and sleep. It is very beautiful and cute. Breakfasts were also in kaiseki style - varied and unusual. The hotel staff is very kind and friendly. this hotel allows tattoo baths. great experience, thank you very much! want to come back again!

The location is fantastic! It's directly connected to two famous Yokohama shopping malls via an underground passage, including a Minato Mirai subway station, making dining and transportation incredibly convenient. Right in front of the hotel is an amusement park, which has free entry but you pay for individual rides. Within a few minutes' walk, you can reach the CupNoodles Museum and the World Porters shopping mall across from it. The Red Brick Warehouse is also a bit further away. The geographical location is truly excellent. There's a Keikyu bus connection to Haneda Airport, so it's very easy to take the bus directly to the hotel after landing. Just remember to book your return bus to the airport in advance via your phone, otherwise, you might not get a seat on the day of departure. If you're heading to Hakkeijima Sea Paradise, the same Keikyu bus from the hotel entrance can take you there. The room facilities are a bit dated but clean and tidy, and they provide a bottle of purified water per person daily. The only drawback is the lack of self-service laundry facilities, and there are none nearby either. Guests staying for an extended period should remember to bring enough clothes.

I booked a one-night, two-meal package at this hotel. The room was a Japanese-style tatami room. The hotel is a 12-minute walk from Hakone-Yumoto Station and has a very distinctive ambiance with its courtyard, waterfall, and koi fish. The staff were attentive and detail-oriented. The dinner offered a wide variety of dishes, including sashimi, sushi, and tempura. What left the deepest impression was the natural hot spring, which provided a truly delightful and relaxing experience for both body and mind!

Yama No Chaya has its own beauty and serenity. I personally don’t find it hard to locate - 2 bus stops away from Hakone Yumoto station + a 5 minutes walk are worth the stay. (Bus service stopped for one of the days due to bad weather and we walked for 20 minutes to Hakone Yumoto Station - all good) The team is very hospitable - they also have some English and Chinese speaking staff otherwise simple English is not an issue to communicate. Our butler - Sandip always carry a smile with him, and he ensured we are very well taken care of. Every morning, the team will prepare heat pack and umbrellas for us (it was raining and snowing). In the evening, they made tea and prepared snacks (vary from mochi to sushi) for us upon our returned. The room we booked is Yamano Ichigo (main wing) - just nice for 2. The viewing platform was where we relaxed every evening and we soaked our tiredness away in our very own private onsen at the basement. Despite of having our own private onsen, I still went to visit 3 other public onsen within the Ryokan - you will not be disappointed. Our room came with daily breakfast and we added on dinner for 1 night. I must say the chef and culinary team put in their passion and effort to prepare all the dishes. It’s not common for a visitor like me to taste Kaisekai cuisine which I enjoyed very much. You need to take time and an empty stomach to full experience it :) However, my partner and I weren’t used to heavy breakfast and our butler noticed it - we get to change to western style for the rest of the stay which was equally delicious. We are thankful that we minimised food wastage. Overall, we felt pampered during our stay at Yama no Chaya :) I will return again in the future when I visit Hakone.

Overall, my stay was very satisfying. The hotel environment is quiet and comfortable; the moment you walk in, you feel a sense of relaxation, making it perfect for a weekend getaway. The room was clean and tidy, with a cozy atmosphere, and the bedding was soft, ensuring a very comfortable sleep. The hot springs are definitely the highlight of this hotel. The water is clear, and the temperature is just right, leaving you feeling completely relaxed after a soak. The different pools are also thoughtfully designed, with unique characteristics for both indoor and outdoor options. The outdoor hot springs, in particular, offer a truly delightful experience in a natural setting. Service also deserves praise. The staff were friendly and patient in answering any questions, making me feel well looked after. All in all, it was a very relaxing and pleasant stay. If I have the chance in the future, I would definitely consider coming back and highly recommend it to anyone looking to rest well and enjoy some hot springs.
