"The best aspect of this stay was by far the owner. He was incredibly, incredibly helpful and friendly — from the moment I walked in the door he offered me a cup of tea, then provided tea and bread the next morning for breakfast, offered advice on what to see in the area, arranged a car to take me to Dalzong Lake, and finally even found me a spot on a local minibus going to my next destination. I couldn’t have done half the things I did during my stay in Xiahe without his advice and efforts on my behalf, so that alone made staying here fully worthwhile! It’s worth mentioning that the guesthouse’s architecture is also absolutely beautiful, and everything looks quite new. It’s located down a quiet side alley off of one of the main commercial streets in town, which seems like the ideal placement. On the accommodations: I stayed in one of the two tents erected on the second floor of the guesthouse. This was largely quite a good experience! The bed was very comfortable (with a heated pad), water and towels provided, etc. The tents are not in a closed-off area, but rather on the second floor/balcony area that also is used for sitting, serving tea, etc., so privacy is somewhat limited, but the whole guesthouse is relatively quiet anyway so it doesn’t feel like a public space. My only suggestions for improvement would be related to the bathroom: during my stay, the shared bathroom for the tents was a sort of temporary-style booth installed in the corner of the room with a toilet, sink, and showerhead. The bathroom was very clean and everything inside worked well, but its sliding door separated from the wall enough that there was always a substantial enough space on one side or the other that could be seen through (the door also didn’t lock and slid back and forth easily). The booth was also small enough that, realistically, I think it would be a bit of a challenge to actually use it to shower. If possible it might be worth looking into some simple fixes to improve these situations, but otherwise I have no complaints!"

"This was easily one of the most memorable stays during our trip to China. The camp is located right beside the stunning desert, offering breathtaking sunrise and sunset views. What impressed us most was how many activities were included for free. We enjoyed unlimited sandboarding on the dunes, a camel riding experience, and even had the chance to ride off-road motorcycles in the desert. Everything was well organized and suitable even for first-time visitors. The traditional Dunhuang-style dinner was delicious and gave us a great opportunity to experience local flavors. In the evening, we watched a wonderful bonfire party with live performances, and the spectacular molten iron fireworks show was absolutely amazing—something we had never seen before. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The tents were comfortable, clean, and surprisingly well equipped considering the desert location. If you’re looking for a unique desert adventure that combines natural beauty, local culture, exciting activities, and excellent value for money, this is the perfect place. Highly recommended for international travelers visiting Dunhuang! We would definitely stay here again!"

"The hostel is good cared and clean. I think I saw a housekeeper every time when I went out from my room and she was always cleaning smth. That attitude already says a lot about the place. There is a nice not big common area with TV and we even watched a bit of Titanic, water dispenser with available cold and hot water. The staff is speaking English and they organise different tours around the area. It’s very handy. We took 2 tours with them and enjoyed a lot. One to PingShanHu canyon and another to Colourful Danxia. We also met many good-hearted foreign and local travellers there and made friends with some. Speaking about the room the condition was good enough. We shared one room with my friend. It’s a great value for money. Thank you for the incredible stay!"

"The room was spacious and clean, the service was excellent and very sincere, and even though it was a holiday booking peak, the price was still very cheap. Overall, it was good value for money, and I would come here again next time."

"The environment is very new! I'm quite particular about bathroom cleanliness, and this place really delivered. The cleaning staff were very diligent, keeping the toilet and shower sparkling clean and well-maintained overall. There's a public microwave, water dispenser, and refrigerator, which is convenient for buying drinks. They also have an automatic washing machine that you can use with coins, and you can exchange coins at the front desk. The guests generally seem to be well-behaved; everyone in the lobby was quiet and didn't play loud music. Access to the guest room area requires a key card, and guests in the rooms were also considerate, which I appreciate. The bedding was already made up, so I didn't have to do it myself, and it was quite comfortable to sleep in. Overall, I had a great impression; the staff were patient. It's a clean and comfortable option that I'd recommend to everyone."

"We were still traveling a few days ago, so I didn't have time to write a review. Now that I'm home, I want to give a proper review of this ******* guesthouse. Out of all the places we stayed during our Gannan road trip, this was by far the most satisfying. The entire guesthouse has a rich ******* ambiance, and the room's hygiene and facilities were impeccable. What's even more noteworthy is the ******* clothing experience – it was truly fantastic! All 8 of us took photos and group pictures in the garden, and the owner even took them for us. The accommodation is also very close to Labrang Monastery, which we walked to. I highly recommend it to everyone!"

"Lanzhou Junyi Hotel is also great! The decoration is elegant and the atmosphere is warm. The rooms are exquisitely furnished, the facilities are all available, and the living is comfortable. The service staff is professional and friendly, caring from check-in to check-out. The hotel's dining is authentic and delicious, showing the local flavor. The location is excellent, there are many surrounding attractions, and it is convenient to play. It is highly recommended!"

"I really recommend this Dunhuang Desert Tent Camp, which is the most pleasant stay experience on this trip to the northwest! The environment has nothing to say, away from the hustle and bustle of the city, sitting on the endless desert scenery, day and night scenery have charm, quiet and healing, and completely relax. The sanitary details are well done, the interior of the tent is cleaned, the bedding is clean and odorless, and the ground is free of sand and dust accumulation. It is very safe to live. The supporting facilities are complete and complete. The camp has its own restaurant, stir-fried dishes, barbecue, and special snacks. The ingredients are fresh and the taste is authentic. It is especially warm to eat hot and delicious meals in the desert. The service experience is full, the staff is warm and thoughtful, and all kinds of questions about play and accommodation will be patiently answered. "Everything was perfect, there were good food places just a few steps away. A bus stop is very close, directly connecting to the main attractions and the train station. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff was very friendly. Only disadvantage was that I wasn’t able to open the water bottles they provided. In the end, I hurt my hand while trying to open. I never had this issue before. That being said, they also have a water dispenser downstairs so there are other options to get drinking water."

"Great location, just a 5-minute drive from West Station, and they offer a shuttle service to and from the station. The room was spacious and clean, the bedding was comfortable, and the shower in the bathroom had excellent water pressure. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, even assisting with luggage. The pork noodles for breakfast were absolutely delicious! It's also close to city attractions. Highly recommend! ^"
