This hotel definitely deserves a 5-star rating; it pretty much met all my expectations for this vacation. Make sure to book a sea-facing room! The rooms are quite spacious, and they offer futon-laying service. When you open the window, you're directly overlooking the sea. Be aware that some room types might have the parking lot obstructing the view, so it's not a completely unobstructed oceanfront view. The best part of the hotel is undoubtedly the hot springs, which span three or four levels. The lowest level is open-air, allowing you to experience soaking in the water while gazing out at the Pacific Ocean in the morning. The hot springs were absolutely the highlight of our trip, incredibly comfortable and relaxing, so much so that we spontaneously extended our stay by an extra night. The dinner included with the room booking was just okay, but breakfast was decent. There are several restaurants within a 10-minute walk, so you don't necessarily need to book dinner with your room. The facilities are comprehensive, including billiards, KTV, and a bar.
Right outside Kushimoto Station, you can spot the hotel's shuttle bus (there's a timetable, and it aligns with most Kuroshio train services).
The hotel is a bit dated, but the cleanliness is decent. The room was very spacious, though the furniture is old. The guest lounge in front of the huge floor-to-ceiling windows in the lobby offers a variety of free beverages and overlooks the sea.
We booked a half-board plan with dinner and breakfast. The buffet dinner and breakfast offered a wide variety of dishes, and we feasted on tuna sashimi until we couldn't eat anymore.
Our mountain-view room overlooked a baseball training field. Watching the young people swinging their bats and hearing the crisp sound at sunset was very relaxing.
The public bath was pretty standard, nothing particularly special.
There's a circular bus service outside the hotel that goes between Kushimoto Station and various attractions, but the buses are infrequent and the waits are long, so I'd recommend taking a taxi instead.
Next to the hotel, there's a small chapel that instantly gave me South California vibes...
The hotel is quiet and private, with complete facilities and enthusiastic, professional staff. We came during the off-season, so the price was very reasonable. Since we had to catch the earliest JR to the airport the next day, which was around 6 AM, the staff enthusiastically and actively helped me arrange transportation. It was indeed very early, making it difficult to find a taxi, so in the end, the hotel's car took us to the JR station. It was a truly heartwarming experience during our trip. Thank you very much!
The room is very big, with great views and is very quiet. It is located close to Shirahama Station and the seafood market. The bus to the door is a 10-minute walk. The road is a bit dark at night. It is very convenient to take the bus to the beach and the Three Broken Walls, but the waiting time is too long. There are not many places to eat around. There is a pretty good ramen restaurant near the bus station. I suggest you either go back to the hotel after eating or book dinner at the hotel. The hotel actually has a shuttle bus that can take you to Shirahama Station. You just need to make an appointment with the front desk in advance, which is great. It's a bit inconvenient that you can't take a shower in the house, you can only go to the hot spring, but the hot spring is open from 6 to 9 in the morning. If you get up late, you may not be able to take a shower. We didn't dare to try it. A full meal for two people at the seafood market only costs 300 RMB. To go to Nachi Taisha Shrine and Kumano Kodo, you have to calculate the bus and Kuroshio Current time. It is still worthwhile to go there and back in one day. It is much more convenient than Kii-Katsuura. I stayed here for four days and three nights. I went to different places every day and came back to soak in hot springs to relieve fatigue. It is very cost-effective. By the way, Conan fans will feel very good.
We absolutely cannot contain our elation when recalling our recent stay at this remarkable hotel. From the moment we stepped into the elevator adorned with personalized name cards, my husband and I were enveloped in the warm embrace of hospitality. The attention to detail and the genuine kindness of the staff made us feel like VIP guests. They also thoughtfully provided a bucket for us to indulge in the glowing enchantment of firecrackers and even tidied the mess up afterwards.
But the best memory of our stay here was definitely the culinary experience given by the chef extraordinaire — Master Chef Matsuki. His creations were nothing short of a gastronomic revelation. Each dish was a testament to his unwavering dedication and profound respect for the ingredients. Oh, the flavors — titillating all our taste buds in every bite. And the generosity of Chef Matsuki in sharing his culinary wisdom, guiding us on how to savor each morsel, elevated the entire dining experience to sheer perfection.
The language barrier was no obstacle to the remarkable team of staff members who graced us with their presence. Their command of the English language was commendable, and even those who were not entirely fluent went above and beyond to cater to our every whim and need. Their genuine desire to assist us was palpable, leaving us feeling truly valued and cared for.
I am already making plans to return with my beloved family, as I know they too deserve to bask in the unparalleled warmth and luxury that this establishment exudes. This hotel has set the bar impossibly high, redefining the meaning of hospitality and creating memories that will be cherished for a lifetime.
So if you seek a hotel experience that transcends mere accommodation and transforms into a symphony of opulence, impeccable service, and culinary artistry, then look no further. This is the epitome of hospitality, a sanctuary where dreams come true, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who craves an unforgettable journey of indulgence and delight.
This is a extension of the shirahama key terrace hotel next door but at a affordable price. U get to use all the amazing onsen facilities which has outdoor bath facing the ocean. Take a dip at the outdoor foot bath in morning after breakfast. The rooms are modern industrial style so it’s kind of bare looking, ok for me just to sleep. It also has a large common area with full kitchen. U can buy food from supermarket and cook super and breakfast yourself here.
Summary:
1. Airport transfer to Shirahama needs to be booked in advance via email.
2. The hotel is excellent and newly renovated. The hot springs are fantastic.
3. Transportation is inconvenient, but there's a shuttle service to Shirarahama Beach.
4. It's about a 15-20 minute walk downhill to a convenience store. The distance isn't actually that far.
Right in front of the bus stop Kamaya-Mae I think..
Kind hosts who speaks a reasonable amount of English. Dinner smelled delicious but I didn’t go for it because I wanted to try the other restaurant in the area.
If I return to kawayu, I will come back here.
It was nice to see the sea from the open-air bath. It is a morning and evening replacement system. Amenity was also available in the bathroom.
The bath was open from 6 in the morning. The room was also tatami mats and I was able to relax.
Here’s a polished review you can use:
---
The room is clean, cozy, and quiet — perfect for a relaxing stay. The bed is very comfortable, and the air conditioner works great with options for both cooling and heating. I especially enjoyed the bathtub, which was really nice.
The staff are very helpful and speak good English, making check-in and communication smooth. A simple breakfast of toast and coffee is included, like the orange jam!
The location is convenient, just a short walking distance from the main train station, and there’s even a free foot spa nearby — a lovely bonus!
Overall, a very pleasant stay. Highly recommended.

11102665161The hotel has a small house across from the fish market for guest registration, where you wait for a small boat to take you to the island. I'm not sure why no one informed us about this after booking on Trip.com. No emails, no texts, no in-app messages. After arriving in Kii Katsuura, we had to use Google Maps to figure out how to get to the island ourselves. We were directed to a very secluded pier, the closest one to the island, but the hotel's boat didn't even stop there. We had to call the front desk, and they directed us back to the fish market to find the registration office. I'm very sure that, even on the day of my check-in, there was no information on Trip.com about how to get to the island.
The hotel itself is incredibly thoughtful. There's a hiking trail that takes about 15 minutes to reach a mountain observatory and a foot bath, for which towels are even provided. Both the male and female indoor and outdoor baths are excellent. We also tried the private bath at the cape, which was also great; all the baths are genuinely very close to the sea. The women's bath on the second floor even has a bath where you can lie down, and the outdoor rotemburo in the women's bath features a cave landscape, which is very unique. Dinner is a sukiyaki that you cook yourself, and the meat is good. Breakfast includes three small platters and a buffet, which is also very generous. At different times, there's free-flowing beer, plum wine, sake, and ice cream. The only minor drawback is that there are no vending machines in the hotel; if you want juice, you have to buy it from the first-floor shop before it closes. Overall, I highly recommend staying here because the hotel is simply outstandingly thoughtful.

XXunshumanxingThe biggest thing is that it is very close to Tianbian Station. It is very convenient to take the early bus to Kumano Ancient Road. The service attitude is also very good. When you go hiking, the suitcase can be stored at the front desk.
