"The hotel is located in the heart of Hikkaduwa, but the facilities are quite old. The air conditioning, dehumidifier, and fan were so noisy they gave me a headache. However, the beach environment and the several sea turtles near the shore made up for it! The outdoor area of the hotel had many squirrels and lizards, which the kids loved. Finally, the diving center's instructor was very professional and great. Unfortunately, the coral reef resources at this dive site are scarce, and the water visibility isn't great, so the underwater views were only average."

"Amazing place. Would highly recommend jungle cabin for 2 nights. We opted to do the hotel safari (although other options are available), and we had a great guide and saw tonnes of elephants (even males chasing each other!), leopards, monkeys, water buffalo, crocodiles, and a whole host of other creatures great and small. Our guide was top: knowledgeable and friendly. Driver great too. Food was great in buffet, and à la carte was fantastic: veggie wrap can’t be missed and this is coming from a complete carnivore. Hope you enjoy your stay here as much as we did."

"The room I was originally given was close to the street and was very noisy. Later, I was given a room close to the sea, and the beach was right outside the door🏖. Of course, I only stayed for two nights and left early. The room was large and nice, with sufficient air conditioning and a comfortable bed. The only problem was that the hot water was not hot enough for this generation of hotels. It was probably warm water. I hoped I wouldn't catch a cold after taking a shower. I was quite happy staying there."

"Love the wild vibe of the resort, with elephants roaming anytime anywhere, it’s really once in a lifetime experience. The room is super spacious, the outdoor jacuzzi facing the jungle is awesome. The floor to ceiling windows are great. The staff Prabuddha has done a great job, he’s very nice and helpful. It is definitely one of the top 3 favourite resorts we have stayed in our life so far ! It worths the price ! Highly recommended."

"I really enjoyed the location of this small, cozy hotel. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, and the room was generally clean. However, there were a few downsides. The food wasn’t really to my taste. On my last day, there was a serious ant problem, even though I was staying on the fourth floor, and I had to call the staff for assistance. I was also disappointed to find out that the hotel didn’t have a spa, which I hadn’t been aware of when booking. The staff explained that the hotel was still relatively new. Additionally, alcohol was not available for purchase. Overall, I appreciated the location and hospitality, but there is definitely room for improvement."

"The DoubleTree by Hilton Weerawila Rajawarna Resort generally meets Hilton's standards. The design, food, and pool are all excellent, and every room has easy access to the pool. However, there aren't many dining options nearby, so it's essential to book a room with meals included. The DoubleTree by Hilton Weerawila Rajawarna Resort is a bit far from Yala National Park, about a 40 to 50-minute drive, which means an additional 2000 LKR surcharge for the safari. Pest control needs improvement. I saw a cockroach and a maggot in the restroom. While the DoubleTree by Hilton Weerawila Rajawarna Resort is located on the edge of a forest and is quite secluded, as a five-star hotel at this price point, these issues shouldn't occur."

I had a wonderful experience at this hotel. The staff were truly amazing — friendly, attentive, and always ready to help with anything I needed. The location is perfect, with plenty of nearby amenities, restaurants, shops, and attractions just a short walk away. Overall, it’s an excellent place to stay and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

Absolutely stunning sea view hotel! I have to rave about the dinner – it was truly excellent! Breakfast, however, wasn't quite as impressive as dinner. The service was fantastic! And the toilet paper in the bathroom was the best quality we encountered throughout our entire trip to Sri Lanka!

I had an absolutely wonderful stay at Pandanus Beach Resort & Spa, so much so that I ended up extending by two extra nights. I also invited a friend along so they could experience it as a romantic getaway weekend break, and it truly was—wonderful to experience everything through a “rose-coloured lens.” While the resort is undeniably romantic, the real highlight for us was the ocean and beach itself. We were up early to frolic in the sea at sunrise, then we spent unhurried time strolling the shoreline, walking the beach and soaking up the calming atmosphere. We also loved popping over to a nearby beach lunch restaurant, then returning for more time in the sand. And it wasn’t just the scenery—there were also local puppies that made the whole experience feel even more special. We ended up playing with them, laughing, and getting thoroughly covered in sand, which made the days feel playful, personal, and unforgettable. Overall, Pandanus Beach Resort & Spa feels like a genuine romantic couples paradise—especially if you’re the kind of couple (or couple-at-heart) who wants your weekend to be all about ocean magic, slow beach days, and shared moments. 💗🌊🐾

My wife and I stayed here during our vacation in Sri Lanka, choosing it because of the high Google ratings. The location really impressed us. The hotel is literally a step away from the beach and less than five minutes’ walk to town, which made it very convenient. Sitting on the balcony overlooking the beach and listening to the waves was easily the best part of the stay. The lobby was simple but acceptable, and there is a seafood restaurant right next to the hotel. At check-in, there was a small hiccup. I booked through Trip.com, but they couldn’t find my booking at first. After about ten minutes, they managed to sort it out and confirmed that the booking came via Agoda. The receptionists were friendly and welcoming, even offering us a drink on arrival. Our room on the second floor had a great view of the sea. The shower had good water pressure, although the bathroom could use better ventilation. The toiletries seemed diluted, so we ended up using our own. Unfortunately, the air conditioning became a real problem. It leaked so badly that the room flooded twice, soaking my shoes. Despite my request for a pail to manage the water, they initially only gave floor mats, which was very frustrating. By the time they finally sent a pail, it was too late. We barely slept that night because of the constant dripping sound. Overall, the location and friendliness of the staff were strong points, but the poor handling of the air conditioning issue really spoiled our experience.

Couldn't fault this hotel. My room was upgraded to a sea view de luxe room and it was fantastic. It was well cleaned every day by Jinendra who also left an amusing 'towel animal' for me daily! Breakfast in the Palms Restaurant was superb, plenty of choice and the staff couldn't do enough for you. Sam was exceptional and went out of his way to get everything I asked for. Madhuka and Dimli also deserve a special mention. The SHACK seafood restaurant was excellent and good value. We also had some evening meals in the Palms Restaurant. They offer a magnificent buffet but we ordered a la carte and were not disappointed. We ventured outside the hotel for an evening meal on a few occasions (across the railway line) but found the standard to be mediocre and not that cheap compared with what was available at the hotel. The swimming pool was easily accessible (graduated steps) and the water wonderfully warm. We never had a problem getting a sun lounger after breakfast although many are obviously reserved early. The extensive beach is lovely for walks. There are sun loungers in the shaded area in the trees but these have to be paid for. The hotel offers a number of daytime activities and there is evening entertainment. A wonderful stay and I would highly recomment this hotel.

The room itself is adequate. The air-con was strong and the shower was good. When I arrived, there was no one there. I opened the gate and walked in. I called the number to the property and the person who answered arrived shortly thereafter. He said no one was there because of the New Year holiday. He showed me to my room. I asked for one in the back, but he said he was having a party and that might be too much for me. After I got settled into a clean room in the front facing the traffic, there was no towel or soap. Late at night after I was asleep, I was startled by someone who began banging on my door and turning the knob several times to get in. I yelled at that person and told him to stop. It did stop and afterward, I felt completely unsafe. I got up to put my heavy suitcase at the door to prevent the intruder from coming in. The staff person had said to me that he was having a party, but then said it was cancelled. There were several men at the property when I returned in the evening. I'm not sure who the perpetrator was maybe it was one of them. There is no peep hole and the windows are frosted. I felt completely vulnerable. I didn't even think to call the staff person because I was frightened and sleepy. My advice is to be cautious if you stay here.

An excellent hotel, everything was up to par, and it met all expectations. Beautiful views, lots of animals—peacocks, monkeys, monitor lizards—very friendly and helpful staff. The only thing on the ocean is the large waves, so it's not always possible to swim.
