It's a very well know hotel with beautiful outlook. There's a grand ballroom on the Ground floor next to the entrance which could be rather noisy for guests even till 11pm. They at first tried to put me to a room on a floor under overhaul renovation which is dim and dirty with renovationn debris and tools everywhere (see pics posted). I refused and insisted to have a change. The changed one is much normal.

I had an 11 hour layover between my flight from Dubai to my flight to Atyrau and was really searching for a hotel near the airport that was convenient and reasonably priced. Grand Hotel Erbil is both of those. I made the booking online with the option to pay on arrival. The booking made provision for a free shuttle pickup from the airport and a very reasonable transfer back the following morning. The hotel confirmed everything by Whatsapp. Contactless payment. Clean room. Clean linen. Friendly and efficient service. I ordered a simple burger and chips via WhatsApp and the food arrived hot and fresh. Minibar is fully stocked and reasonably priced. Their menu is extensive (55 page book) and they cater for everything from a bowl of hummus to platters of meats, cakes, cocktails, etc. For a traveller, this hotel is well worth it. What a disappointing hotel. The service was awful throughout. Whatever the question the answer was always NO! Check in time was 2:00pm. I arrived at noon and asked for an early check in. NO! The room was ready but unless I paid $50 they would not allow early check in. (A different clerk did eventually check me in early) The restaurant closed at 7:00pm for dinner and there was no nearby option. I got take out and just asked for silverware and an empty glass. NO, you may not take to room. Eventually I procured a single fork (still no glass allowed in room. “People steal them”). 30 min later, a knock on the door asking for the fork back! Bar was horribly stocked. Red wine? NO. White Wine? NO. Just beer Breakfast opened at 7am. I arrived at 6:50 and just asked if I could have a coffee while i waited. NO. They ran out of juice, asked for more….wait for it…NO. Power was off several times, once for 2+ hours. Windows don’t open so it became very stuffy. Room was not cleaned one day. I asked just for fresh towels. I had to bring my used ones down to the front desk, where they counted them to be replaced. I guess their guests steal towels too! On checkout I asked politely if I could speak to the manager. “No manager here”. That kinda sums up the whole stay. Many, many better options here and this should never be part of IHG with the terrible service

Stayed here for just one night in April. Service received was fantastic (given I arrived early in the morning) - check in was quick and the staff spoke excellent English. I found the room to be comfortable, very clean and of a good size. I got the impression the hotel is relatively new. It’s around 20-25 minutes from the airport and maybe around 10-15 minutes to the centre of Almaty using Yandex which is very cheap. Would highly recommend this hotel.

Stayed there for a night during my KZ trip, the hotel is located at a very comfortable location , the hotel rooms looks like more of heritage room with a few old decor plates and felt really warm, they provided with all the necessity services, and a secured cloak room was also there, I kept my luggage after checkout for almost a day and they were really helpful to store them at their place without any hassle and provided back the same in couple of minutes, They staff here speaks fluent English as well and take extra efforts to help their guest. Would definitely recommend to stay and get to know the services of the same.

It's still a good hotel, but the service is not particularly enthusiastic. It may be because of my language barrier. The overall is relatively clean, the surrounding area is also relatively good, and there are many restaurants nearby.

Everything about the hotel is perfect. My only suggestion is get a new hairdryer. The current one barely works. Breakfast was delish and reception kindly arranged transportation for me.

Отель Алматы У отеля есть большая парковка, расположен отель относительно близко к центру. Брала отель ради бассейна. Работали удалённо, по московскому времени, думала ходить плавать утром. Пришла, а он на ремонте. Воды нет, чистят. Снимали на 5 дней, его залили в поседений день и вода отстаивалась (не ходила проверять, так сказали). Если бы знала заранее - не бронировала бы. Тренажёрный зал в ужасном состоянии, маленький. Хороший хаммам и сауна. Полотенца просят брать свои из номера, хотя они есть в спа-зоне. Около отеля расположена бензоколонка. Сумасшедшие женщины кассиры круглосуточно в мегафон орут клиентам советы. Даже ночью! То, что они находятся под окнами жилого дома и отеля, их не смущает. В одну из ночей в соседний номер пришли девочки по вызову. Стучались к нам в номер в 3 часа ночи, потом со смехом ушли, что перепутали. Очень было весело им, видимо. Помимо шумного соседа в номере был постоянный шум в канализации, как будто насос работал. Завтраки хорошие, разнообразные, но не хватило десертов или булочек - все круассаны какие-то залежалые. Попробовали пообедать один раз в отеле. Дорого, долго готовили. Апероль принесли почти без самого апероля, как шампанское с соком. Интернет иногда пропадал минут на 5, что некомфортно для удалённой работы. От отеля остались неприятные воспоминания, ни за что бы не поехала второй раз.

The breakfast was good, but not fantastic. The room was good and clean, there were some supplies in the toilette. Parks and places around the hotel are nice, and you can have a good walk around, if you wish. There were always noise (I'd assume cleaners did some work) quite early in the morning. Another issue is that the breakfast time in the morning is until 10am sharp, which is not convenient for people travelling from Europe for leisure. As I understood, there're no alternatives available. We asked a bottle of water and an additional blanked to the room, and it was challenging to get them. Particularly, with the bottle of water, as they refused to put the cost of it on the hotel room, but requested a cash payment. It was a surprise for us.

He arrived by the pair during the quarantine. For the day he called and agreed for 12 thousand per day. He said that I would arrive at midnight from the SD on what and go to the evening in the Sabbath. When entering the respiratory, they were counted as three days, but for 13500 tog (!). I mentioned the reservation but did not answer that I was not aware and I agreed, as it was too late to look for anything. At 12:00, the call is called and asks why we haven't left yet. I explained that the hotel has been agreed on time and price. But at the respiratory began to insist on their adopted rules. I know it perfectly, I have been to different hotels in the world. But still it is necessary to synchronize work between staff. Every guest should explain 3 times to understand. Such attitude towards customers and irresponsibility is immediately taken into account. Also significant minus was on infrastructure. In the shower every day the water pressure was lost and even stopped. It was necessary to call for those support. The refrigerator and the container in the room are noisy, so you had to turn off to sleep. The elevator in the building is not at all. You had to drown on the third floor daily. Spa/sauna is not released during the time. Waited for their time for half an hour. Breakfast is average, after the second time there is already a desire to go there. During the quarantine there were very few guests, man 10 probably. And the service was very weak. Maximum reach 2 stars.
