There's plenty to do nearby, with Pingyao Ancient City, Xida Street and South Gate Tower all within a short distance. This hotel makes a great place to kick back and relax after a long day of sightseeing. If you demand a high level of service, our guests have indicated that this hotel has excellent standards. This hotel is particularly popular with those traveling with families.
"Excel·lent place to stay, near the main street and with lots of places to eat nearby. The room was immense, clean and very comfortable and the bathroom was so modern and clean. We had an electric toilet where you could flush the toilet automatically and even warm the seat at a certain temperature. It was an experience! They gave us fresh fruit also and provided us with water and clean towels everyday. The hotel looks a little bit old and maybe it needs generally a bit more maintainacee and ckeanenkess but overall the bedroom was fantastic which is the most importants. The staff also speaks very good English and they helped us when we calked them as we didn't find first the hotel. Turns out that Harmony Hotel and Jade Garden Hotel is the same just in case maps doesn't bring you to the right place. Also the experience of sleeping in a traditional house with the gardens and patios outside it's Soo cool."

"Let me elaborate. **Courtyard Design:** Very beautiful, many scenic spots within the ancient city are decorated in a similar style. **Room Amenities:** Given the prime location, the room isn't large, perhaps around 15 square meters. It has all the essentials and is very clean. The mattress was comfortable. Of course, it can't compare to high-end or luxury hotels. Its main advantage is its excellent location; it's very convenient for exploring, and you can easily pop back for a rest when you get tired. **Service:** The staff were very service-oriented. When we arrived, there weren't many guests, and the service was very attentive. **Breakfast:** It's not a buffet; it's a fixed-menu breakfast, like a 'nine-grid' style. It looks very appealing, and the taste is decent enough to fill you up. Overall, it's a good stay. Naturally, for this price point within the ancient city, you shouldn't compare it to hotels of the same price outside. It's incomparable, primarily due to its superb geographical advantage."

"My friend and I really enjoy staying at this hotel, great hospitality from the reception lady. The room is great, very comfortable bed and everything is clean. Our room is on the first floor. We will choose this hotel again when we return. For those who choose to stay at this hotel, I strongly recommend you use the pick-up service; the fee is only 50RMB, very reasonable. We had a great time in Pingyao; unfortunately we had to shorthen our stay to just one night instead of three as initially booked, due to train ticket to Xi'anbei being sold out on my initially planned third-day stay so I had to leave earlier."

"I’ve been traveling in different countries and staying in different hotels across Europe and Asia for the past ~15 years. The Drama house hotel is among the few that made me want to sit down either at the lobby, or at the inner court, just to enjoy the atmosphere. The staff were also very friendly and helpful, assisting also with the pickup and drop off from the Pingyaogucheng station (not to be confused with the nearby station). Location is also superb. Definitely recommend the hotel as well as Pyngao."

The hotel offers free pickup and drop-off at the city gate, helps with luggage, and provides thoughtful and attentive service. They patiently explained sightseeing routes and even assisted with discounted bookings for 'Impression Pingyao' tickets, saving us time and effort. The rooms are clean and tidy, with soft and comfortable bedding. The courtyard is quiet and tranquil, making it a very reassuring stay for both elderly guests and children. The amenities are comprehensive, and the breakfast is authentic. It offers incredible value for money. It's definitely the top choice for family trips to Pingyao. Highly recommended; we'll definitely stay here again next time we visit Pingyao."

"The staff were very attentive and made sure I was picked up properly from the train station. The car was waiting for me just before my train arrived in Pingyao Ancient City. The bed was super comfy and I loved the old ancient charm of the hotel. Only thing that can improve is the breakfast buffet. People were raiding everything and the food wasn’t refilled in a timely manner. I was only able to get a boiled egg and a banana in the end. Didn’t want to have to fight for the food with other people"

"Located right next to the ”Encounter Theater,” it's about a 5-minute walk from the exit, very convenient. The hotel is new, and the service is very welcoming. Overall, I really liked it. The room was very spacious and had a video TV. The bedding was also very comfortable, and the mattress was just the right firmness, which helped me sleep. Breakfast was a typical Chinese breakfast, which wasn't suitable for someone like me who usually eats milk, bread, and fried eggs for breakfast. Adding some Western options would be helpful. The only minor drawback is the lack of an elevator. For someone like me who doesn't usually climb stairs, it was a bit tiring, but the third floor was indeed very quiet."

"Brand new hotel, very stylish and beautiful, it was renovated with high quality materials. The personnel is kind and helpful, they provided umbrellas for us for the rainy day. However sound isolation in between the rooms is a big problem, when someone goes to toilet in the next room it sounds like they are inside your room because of the air channels in between the rooms. And also there is a constant back noise like the sound of a fridge but there is no fridge inside the room! The room is a bit “too modern” for our taste, there was a mirror with a blue light that we had to cover with a towel and we had to turn off the “intelligent toilet” that also had a blue light and a sensor. Anyways too many lights and too much noise in the room. Unfortunately we regretted to have moved to this hotel and pay 20€ more per night compared to our previous hotel in Pingyao."

"This was my favorite hotel during my Shanxi trip, and here's why: 1. The hotel is a converted old mansion, full of character. The rooms are spotless, fully smart-enabled, and stylishly designed. The bedding is incredibly comfortable, with a choice of two pillows of different firmness levels. The mini-fridge also comes stocked with complimentary drinks and snacks. 2. The personalized and attentive service is a highlight of this boutique hotel. The staff were warm and proactive. Since we had an early train, they even prepared breakfast for us in advance. On our arrival day, they offered us delicious wontons for lunch to tide us over. 3. The location is excellent, not far from the North Gate, making it super convenient for exploring the ancient city. 4. The hotel provides complimentary transfers to and from the train station in a Mercedes van equipped with massage seats – they've really invested in top-notch amenities. 5. The value for money is outstanding. With such amenities and service, it's absolutely worth every penny. I'll definitely be back!"

AAnonymous UserVery clean and spacious room. The hosts were very helpful and super friendly. We enjoyed our stay a lot and felt very comfortable at the hotel. We were even provided with some fruits at our arrival and some snacks for our journey on the day we left. It was also possible to wash our clothes. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay in Pingyao at Delian Homestay.

From the moment I stepped into Pingyao, I was completely won over by Taotang Inn's thoughtfulness. - Luxurious Transfer, Grand Entrance: As soon as I got off the high-speed train, a Maybach arranged by the hotel was waiting. The spacious back seat, supple leather upholstery, and smooth ride into the ancient city instantly melted away travel fatigue. Talk about arriving in style! - A Detail-Oriented Dream: Every corner of the room spoke of meticulous design – dark walnut wainscoting paired with warm-glow glass lamps created a retro yet sophisticated ambiance. The bedding was incredibly soft and gentle on the skin, and the mattress offered perfect support; I didn't want to get out of bed for two nights straight! The bathroom was an even bigger surprise, with high-end toiletries like Le Labo Santal 33 hand soap and Appelles mouthwash, plus the latest Dyson hairdryer. My hair was smooth and frizz-free after drying, the quality was truly palpable. - Heartwarming Butler Service: Whenever we left, the butler would always hand us a warm bottle of mineral water and patiently recommend authentic local restaurants, even planning our routes for us. After a tiring day exploring the ancient city, returning to the hotel's warm, soft lighting and peaceful courtyard instantly calmed us down. It truly felt like coming home. - Ancient Charm, Peaceful Retreat: The hotel itself is a beautifully preserved Jin merchant courtyard, with red lanterns hanging high and intricately carved wooden window lattices. During the day, we sunbathed and enjoyed tea in the courtyard, and at night, we drifted off to sleep listening to the quiet sounds of the ancient city. It perfectly balanced historical charm with modern comfort. This was by far the best choice of my Shanxi trip, no exaggeration! Next time I'm in Pingyao, I'm definitely staying here again. As someone who's sensitive to the cold, my biggest worry when traveling is chilly accommodations, but the underfloor heating throughout the entire house was a pleasant surprise—I was enveloped in warmth the moment I stepped inside, instantly shedding my heavy coat and letting my fatigue melt away as I walked barefoot on the warm floor! The indoor temperature was just right, comfortably and naturally warm! What was even more touching was the consistently enthusiastic service. I received a confirmation message for pick-up before departure, and as soon as I exited the high-speed rail station, I saw staff who proactively helped with my luggage and opened the car door. We chatted about local travel tips along the way, and I easily arrived at my accommodation in just twenty minutes. Upon check-in, the front desk patiently explained how to use the facilities and even shared tips on avoiding peak tourist seasons during the New Year's holiday. During my stay, they responded incredibly quickly to any needs I had, and their attentive attention to detail made me feel incredibly welcome, like being at a friend's house. I must praise the free pick-up and drop-off service! During the New Year's Day holiday, train stations are crowded and congested. No need to worry about taxis or lugging luggage around; the hotel provides round-trip transportation from the station, saving you time and hassle—perfect for families traveling with elderly members and young children. From the comforting underfloor heating to the warm and attentive service, and the hassle-free station transfers, every detail at Pingyuan Gongfu Hotel caters to your travel needs. This New Year's Day, this pleasant accommodation experience made my trip incredibly enjoyable! I've already recommended it to friends who are traveling, and I'll definitely choose it again next time!

GGuest UserA few days ago, I went out with my boyfriend and booked this inn with a relatively high cost performance. I mainly like the ancient style of decoration. It was my first time staying in a kang and I felt very comfortable. The kang was very big and the bathroom was very clean. Overall, it was very good. From the second floor, you can see the scenery of the city wall, which looks very nice!

GgrapeaiI had an incredibly pleasant surprise staying at a guesthouse in Pingyao Ancient City! It's been converted from a hundred-year-old traditional house, and the bricks, tiles, and carved wooden windows all exude an ancient charm. The pomegranate tree at the entrance to the courtyard and the stone table with enamel bowls inside create such a wonderful ambiance. The guesthouse also has its own restaurant, serving up authentic Pingyao flavors. It was a comfortable stay with a genuine local vibe!

GGuest UserAfter visiting Zhenguo Temple and Shuanglin Temple, the only reason I planned to stay overnight in Pingyao Ancient City was to stay at the Jia Inn. The innkeeper contacted me in advance via phone and WeChat, and arranged for a shuttle bus to and from the parking lot near the city wall. The innkeeper, a lovely young lady, greeted me warmly at the inn entrance and introduced the inn. I stayed in the ”Legend” single room, perhaps inspired by Zhao Tao's solitary journey through Shanghai in the novel ”Legend of the Sea.” The single bed against the wall was small and comfortable, and there was a welcome card on the table, along with some local seasonal fruits and vinegar cakes. Director Jia's books are available for reading freely from the lobby to the rooms. In the afternoon, I went to the reading café on the second-floor balcony, enjoying the quiet solitude separated from the hustle and bustle of the street by a wall. The innkeeper welcomes even guests not staying there to come in, take photos, visit, or use the restrooms, further enhancing the inn's ambiance. In the evening, instead of watching the popular light show or cultural performances in Pingyao, the housekeeper showed me Jia's film ”Platform,” which was filmed in Fenyang more than 20 years ago, in the inn's underground restaurant called ”Platform.” Revisiting the scenes of Cui Mingliang and Ruijuan on the ancient city wall of Pingyao felt much more fitting. Breakfast was also at ”Platform,” with a mix of Chinese and Western dishes. I ate my fill, and at the end, the housekeeper brought me a small bowl of dumplings, saying, ”Traditionally, dumplings are eaten before boarding, and noodles upon arrival,” which added a touch of warmth. Seeing my keen interest in film, the housekeeper gifted me a copy of ”Jia Xiang II” and even gave me a bag of bottled water and oranges for my journey. Even compared to the century-old restaurants I've stayed at in Kyoto, the experience at Jia Inn was like a warming cup of Fenjiu liquor, leaving a lingering aftertaste and giving me a ”key” to always return to ”jia.” I would definitely come back; highly recommended.

1109678****The hotel is located at the North Gate of Pingyao. Parking is convenient at the North Gate parking lot, and the owner will pick you up and take you to the hotel. The city wall is visible from the upper floors, and the sunset view is beautiful. Breakfast is delivered to your door. It's a bit far to the center of the ancient city, but the hotel offers pick-up and drop-off services. The drop-off point for the ”Encounter Pingyao” show is a bit further, requiring an extra ten minutes' walk, so I called a taxi directly on the way back. They also gave me a gift of Fenjiu liquor and balsamic vinegar upon departure.

GGuest UserThe hotel proactively contacted us about parking and our needs, and upon learning we had a child, they helped arrange a combined bed. Xiao Yin's service was incredibly attentive; she always addressed our requests promptly and thoughtfully. The hotel was clean and tidy, and they efficiently and quickly helped us book a tour guide and a private car. The only minor drawback was the breakfast being a bit limited; it would be perfect if they could offer more variety. Overall, it was a great experience, highly recommended!

RRokssasThis hotel was really great and perfect for us. We loved its location, the breakfast and the comfortable and spacious room. It's walking distance from everything to see in Pingyao and they have free transfer to the airport which was a plus as we arrived in the city at night. We want to especially thank Wendy and Linn at the hotel as they were really nice to us and exceeded our expectations. We will recommend this hotel to anyone going to Pingyao.

MM24513****A 200-year-old historic house with modern and comfortable facilities. The hotel is located right inside Pingyao Ancient City, making it super convenient for dining and sightseeing. The butler service is one-on-one, warm, and thoughtful, even helping to carry luggage from the car park to the hotel. It's a hotel we would definitely return to. Our whole family was very satisfied!
