"Pros: Hotel staff are friendly and the location is close to the main tourist district and the Potala Palace. There are restaurants available near the hotel.
One thing was that I communicated with the front desk staff to not disturb me the next morning and that I will let them know when they could clean the room coz I was exhausted due to high altitude sickness and unable to sleep throughout the night, however, the cleaning staff banged on the door at 12 noon asking if they could clean the room.
When I booked this hotel on Trip.com, it says also includes one afternoon tea per day, and I booked 9 nights. It turned out isn't true and was not told until I asked the front desk. The hotel staff only responded that in fact the afternoon tea has been cancelled since Dec 2025 and did not provide anything else. With this incident plus laundry only allows 5 pieces/day and doesn't wash inner wear like socks/underwear. I honestly feel that there are a lot more other choices at this price."

"This was my first trip to Lhasa, and I chose the Even Hotels family room. The room was spacious, very new, clean, and had a diffuse oxygen supply, which helped us acclimate smoothly during our first night. The front desk and room service staff were all very professional and dedicated, patiently answering all our questions. At 11 PM, they promptly brought us nasal cannulas and an oximeter. The security staff at the parking lot and entrance were also very friendly and helpful, truly making us feel at home. The breakfast was excellent, with a wide variety of options. The hotel's location is also great, making it convenient for getting around. I will definitely recommend this hotel to any friends planning a trip to Lhasa. It's a perfect hotel, a real hidden gem!"

"Our 3-day stay in Lhasa was absolutely fantastic, especially traveling with my mom. The hotel's convenience, cleanliness, and excellent service really made our mother-daughter trip much more harmonious.
- The location is incredibly convenient. It's about 1.5 kilometers to Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, and photo shoot spots, all easily walkable. We explored Lhasa entirely on foot during our stay.
- They were well-prepared for altitude sickness. The room has an oxygen concentrator that can be used for diffusion or nasal cannula. On the first night, I foolishly took a shower and felt nauseous and dizzy in the middle of the night, doubting my existence. The butler came to help me with the oxygen concentrator in the middle of the night, and I finally got two hours of sleep after using oxygen until dawn. I searched for altitude sickness on Xiaohongshu, feeling like I was on the verge of needing a hospital. The front desk on the second floor has a pulse oximeter, and I felt relieved after seeing my reading was in the 80s.
- I can't praise the butlers and front desk enough; their service was perfect! It wasn't the fake kind of luxury service you often find, but genuinely thoughtful and comfortable.
- The restaurant offers a beautiful view of the Potala Palace, making breakfast a delightful experience."

"Our family of three was absolutely delighted with the triple room! It was incredibly spacious – we could spread out all three large suitcases and still have plenty of room to move around. The best part was the fantastic natural light; the big windows made the whole room bright and airy, instantly lifting our spirits. The humidifier in the room was a lifesaver at this altitude; we slept soundly without any dryness. The electric kettle heated water quickly, and we really appreciated the thoughtful touch of six complimentary bottles of mineral water! The mini-fridge was also very convenient for keeping our fruits and yogurt chilled.
What truly amazed us was the hand-painted ceiling – auspicious Eight Buddhist Symbols, personally painted by a ******* artist. The colors were vibrant and brought a sense of good fortune. Waking up every day to such beautiful art made us feel incredibly blessed. These details really show how much care the hotel puts into its guests, balancing modern comfort with an authentic ******* cultural atmosphere. Upon entering the hotel, we were enveloped by a rich ******* atmosphere. The thangkas hanging in the lobby, the exquisite ******* furniture, and the colorful soft furnishings—every detail embodied the ******* aesthetic, instantly transporting us to the snowy plateau. The front desk staff, both dressed in distinctive attire, presented us with a white khata with a smile, creating a truly ceremonial welcome. This unique and moving welcome was truly heartwarming.
The room was equally astonishing—spotlessly clean, the floor felt completely safe even on bare feet. Cleverly, the traditional ******* style is integrated with smart home technology. A simple ”lights on” command automatically opened the curtains, and voice-activated lighting and air conditioning were incredibly convenient. She always gave you the best service anytime and anywhere. If you were short of oxygen, you could ask her. If you wanted to change to a more satisfactory room, you could ask her. If you wanted water, slippers, or a toothbrush, you could ask her. Anyway, she would meet all your needs and make you feel at home. Before leaving, I couldn't help but give her a lamb 🐑 plush toy. I hope she likes it 💕. The second thing is that the hotel is very clean and tidy. The bathroom and the bed are separated, and the view is great. I was in a sunny mood every day. The third thing is that the breakfast at the hotel is delicious. There are not many varieties, but it is enough to meet all needs, especially the spicy rice noodles. I have to eat a bowl every day. I will come again next time~

GGuest UserMy long-awaited trip to Tibet finally began, and I decisively chose The St. Regis Lhasa. The room was spacious, amenities were complete, and the location was convenient, close to all the main attractions. They even have a medical room, and their homemade altitude sickness medicine is quite effective, supposedly with no side effects. Thanks to this medicine, I was able to continue my journey to Ngari. The breakfast was also very generous and varied over my three-day stay, not the same every day. There were also some à la carte options; I enjoyed congee with abalone slices, which was comforting. Furthermore, in an altitude-prone area, the staff's attitude is a big plus. I especially want to commend our butler, Riri. As I was experiencing a bit of altitude sickness, I bothered her quite a bit, but the thoughtful Riri patiently helped me out. I'll definitely choose The St. Regis again next time I'm in Lhasa.

Buy an oxygen tube for RMB 10/piece, and you can arrange an oxygen machine at the lobby bar to provide free oxygen.
There were sanitary defects, cigarette butts were found, we don't smoke as a family, but it was acceptable, the sprinkler pipe leaked, and the water pressure increased after cleaning.
Everything was cured by the warm customer service.

I was absolutely mesmerized the moment I walked in! You can dine, enjoy sweet tea, afternoon tea, pet cats… In short, it’s perfect for leisurely spending time in Lhasa.
The hotel is right on the Barkhor Street kora path, just a 3-minute walk to Jokhang Temple! I heard this used to be the Nepalese Consulate 400 years ago, and now it's the Gesar Japo Museum! Carvings, murals, and antique objects are everywhere. Exploring this heritage-listed ******* ancient building truly feels like stepping back in time.
Upon check-in, there's a traditional Hada presentation. The staff are so warm and helpful, even assisting with luggage. They also offer complimentary ******* traditional clothing for photos. In the room, there's a special high-altitude welcome kit: facial masks, hair essential oil, makeup remover wipes, and more… so thoughtful for female guests! The hotel offers a self-service breakfast. It's a tranquil oasis amidst the hustle and bustle, truly a master of creating a wonderful atmosphere! 🏡

The airport pickup service was punctual and attentive. The driver was calm and professional, ensuring a smooth and comfortable journey. Throughout our trip, the hotel arranged a dedicated driver to take us to Jokhang Temple and Potala Palace. The routes were well-planned, the driving was steady, and he waited patiently, allowing us to easily visit these sacred sites without any worries.
I must give special praise to our butler, Zhixi. His service was incredibly meticulous and he anticipated our every need. From guiding us during check-in and offering itinerary suggestions to providing tips for high altitude, he followed up attentively throughout, always responsive to our requests. He handled every small detail with such care and thoughtfulness, making us feel completely at ease.
The dining experience at the restaurant was excellent. The dishes were varied, delicious, and of high quality. A special thanks to Dekyi Wangmo for her exceptional care. Her service was warm and attentive; she proactively anticipated our needs, from taking orders to refilling tea and providing thoughtful details. The dining atmosphere was cozy and pleasant, and we enjoyed every meal thoroughly. This was especially helpful for us who experienced some altitude sickness.
Standard hotel services were also top-notch. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the staff were humble, courteous, and responded quickly. Whether it was helping with facilities, addressing requests, or providing temporary assistance, they were efficient and warm, truly making us feel at home.
From airport transfers and butler service to restaurant care, the Shangri-La Hotel's exceptional dedication protected our entire journey, making our high-altitude trip warm and smooth.

We just arrived in Lhasa and were not very familiar with the itinerary. Later, we consulted the proprietress to avoid falling into the trap. You can also ask the proprietress to help buy performance tickets and travel packages. There are many discounts after comparison. I am also very satisfied with the arranged room. It is square, clean, with a humidifier, oxygen concentrator, and air conditioner. Every morning, the bright sunshine will shine into the room, making the cool morning warm all of a sudden. Living in a sunny room makes my altitude sickness much better.
The location of the hotel is also very good👍 It is convenient to go out for transportation. It takes a few minutes to walk to Jokhang City, Barkhor Street, and Jokhang Temple. It only takes 10 yuan to take Didi to the Potala Palace.
Warm service, clean room, convenient transportation, we will definitely stay in Gesanghua again next time.

GGuest UserThe room facilities were excellent, and free oxygen was provided at 8:00 PM. The breakfast had a wide variety of options and tasted quite good. The lobby reception staff were very helpful. The hotel's location was good, and taxis were readily available. It also had a courtyard, small garden, and pond, making for a beautiful environment. Thank you!

GGuest UserThe hotel isn't to far from the Portola Palace (a short taxi trip). I wouldn't say its a true 4 star hotel.
The room was a good size, quiet and didn't smell of cigarette smoke. The room was a little worn out; I couldn't get the TV to work, the mirror on the wet bar area was cracked, there were marks to the walls where paintings/pictures had once been. Most annoying was the shower cubicle and the shower over the bath had only cold water! On my last morning the power was off in my area of the hotel and the lift was not working due to the power outage.
The hotel staff do not speak English, but one lady working on reception was especially nice and helpful and we were able to communicate by using the translation app.
There are lots of restaurants near by, but next time I think I'd prefer to stay closer to the Portola Palace.
