"It was 850meter walk upon arrival at Edinburgh Waverley train station.
Through slopes, stairs and uneven roads.
Heavy luhgage is strongly not recommended.
Fast check in and check out.
Great amenities with clean kitchen full with amenities.
Toilet a bit small and could be dirty at times.
No lifts so have to carry luggage all the way up to 3rs floor.
Beds are comfy and clean.
As it's bunk bed, so it could be quite disturbing when the other is moving inconsiderably vigorously."

"The room was a single bed with shared bathroom located at the Grant House on the property. I arrived early in the morning and was allowed to leave my bag with reception. I explored the city and came back in the afternoon to check in. My room was dated but clean. It has a single bed with two pillows and a duvet. It was comfortable to sleep in. The room has a sink in the room as well which was handy as I could easily wash up in the room. There is access to the common pantry on the same level with microwave, electric kettle and small refrigerator. Laundry facilities is also available on the same floor. There were 3 individual shower room on the same floor. I used my own toiletries as the ones provided didn’t feel adequate. The shared shower rooms were cleaned daily by the housekeeping team. I was given two sets of bath towels for my stay. Reception was open 24/7. Free Wi-Fi access and lots of power sockets within the room. Hangers were provided in the wardrobe as well.
Breakfast was excellent. Lots of variety and plenty of fruits. Plus good selection of coffee, tea and juices.
Good affordable accommodation for solo travelers. Location is easily accessible with local bus with bus stop just 5-7mins walk. Arthur’s seat is located just behind the property and easy access to a beautiful walk and hike."

"The hotel is very clean, and the breakfast is absolutely amazing. The room overall is great. The toilet is well maintained and with the best coffee and tea, and even snacks!
Although main drawbacks are, first, as my room is without windows, a television is replaced by with live stream of outside view, however, it keeps flashing and I have to turn it off. Then, No WiFi for 2 days, which I can only rely on my data, which I think they should provide SIM card or other things that can help access to the internet. And the parking is a bit expensive, 15 gbp per day."

"Wonderful hostel! The location is fantastic. It's clean and tidy, with a huge number of bathrooms and toilets. Guests are of all different ages here. I'm 38, but I felt completely comfortable. My roommates were much younger, but everyone was respectful of each other and kept noise down. No one got drunk; everything was very civilized. Just remember to bring earplugs! Our window faced the courtyard, and until 11 PM, people were hanging out and playing games on weekends. But honestly, I didn't hear a thing! 😂 You can store your luggage for 3 pounds after checking out. I brought my own towel and locker padlock, but you can rent them. In the evenings, staff would always come by and invite people to join activities on the first floor, always in a friendly way. I'm very happy with my stay. The staff are super! For the price, I got maximum value. Thanks, see you again!"

"The room was spotlessly clean, and the bed was super comfortable. There's a spacious car park right outside the hotel, making parking incredibly convenient. The hotel is located a 10-minute drive from Edinburgh's historic Old Town. It also features a bar where you can catch a game, enjoy a beer, and grab a meal – a really handy amenity. Breakfast was pretty standard, and the variety wasn't very extensive. The only minor downside was the price, which was a bit steep, but then again, accommodation in Edinburgh isn't cheap."

"The hotel room and bathroom were indeed too small; there wasn't even enough space to open a suitcase, so it had to be stored under the bed. The view outside the room was decent. The main advantage is the hotel's excellent location, right opposite Haymarket. You can walk almost anywhere, which is incredibly convenient, and there are bus stops right outside. The hotel breakfast was just so-so, with limited variety and options. It was a typical English breakfast, not bad. LlyntravelstoI recently stayed at this hotel during my solo trip to Edinburgh, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making me feel safe and looked after throughout my stay. The room was spotless, cozy, and well-equipped with everything I needed.

GGuest UserThe only thing that was good about this hotel was the location- the most central. Everything else was pretty bad. I have requested a room with a nice view for our special occasion but was given a room with the view of the industrial back wall. Called the manager and he came and apologised and said there were no other rooms left.
The room itself was outdated, looked like a hostel rather than a hotel. We have travelled a lot but this was the worst hotel we have stayed in. Our special occasion was ruined. The room was so tiny that it was difficult to squeeze a suitcase between the bed and the wall. The TV had no internet connected. There was no mini fridge. The bathroom entry door was a squeeze. The toilet was so close to the wall that you would be pushed into a wall. No toilet brush either.
For the expensive price paid they didn’t even give us a bottle of water or a biscuit. The restaurant is under refurbishment this time and they provide tea/coffee and pastries on level 3 for breakfast free. There is a limited expensive menu to order from reception to your room if you need.
The luggage storage facility is limited. When checking out many people were told there was no more room for the luggage storage and those people had to go and look for the pricey luggage storage outside. We met some people also complaining about the hotel. Will never come back to this hotel again.

GGuest UserService was good enough and as per expectations of a big hotel brand. Nothing to complain about.
The only complaint I have is about the amenities. There was no dental kit provided in the room and when requested for, I was asked to come down to the reception to collect it rather than have housekeeping deliver to the room. There was no single use slippers either and I had to pay £5 for it which I felt was pretty excessive for a disposable pair of slippers.. I paid for it anyway since I needed it. The staff were kind about it though and could do nothing as it was hotel policy.
Hope Novotel can review its policies on the provision of these amenities.

Stayed at Stewart by Heeton Concept for 2 days and I would absolutely love to come back in the future!
The apartment was spotless — no dust, no bed bugs, fresh clean bedsheets, and a tidy washroom. Everything was well-maintained and made for a really comfortable stay. It truly felt like a great place to relax and unwind.
The only two things I’d mention as areas for improvement: the check-out time of 10:30 AM felt a little early, and a few basic toiletry amenities like toothpaste, a toothbrush, and slippers were missing. Everything else was provided and well-stocked.
Overall a fantastic stay and highly recommended. Will definitely be returning! 😊

I recently stayed at this hotel and found it to be a bit of a mixed bag. While there are some undeniable perks to the property, a few significant service and security issues made for a rather unsettling experience.
The Highlights
Prime Location: This is easily the hotel's strongest suit. It’s situated right next to Haymarket station, and there is a bus stop literally just outside the front door. Getting into the city centre takes no more than 10 minutes, making it a perfect base for exploring.
Commendable Service: The reception team provided a decent welcome. I’d like to give a special mention to Shreyas, who was incredibly helpful and professional throughout our interactions.
Quality Dining: We ate at the on-site restaurant and were pleasantly surprised. The food was of a high standard, and the waitstaff were attentive and friendly.
Room Maintenance & Tech Issues
Unfortunately, the shine started to wear off once we settled into the room:
Housekeeping Oversights: Despite this being a multi-day stay, the complimentary water bottles were never replaced after the first day.
Faulty Tech: The in-room tablet was practically useless. It kept restarting due to a battery fault; ironically, it even cut out while I was trying to use it to contact reception.
Privacy Concerns: When we requested extra toilet roll, the staff member who delivered it attempted to walk straight into the room using their key, rather than knocking and waiting for us to answer. It was a complete breach of basic hospitality etiquette.
A Major Security Concern
The most distressing part of the trip occurred on our second day. Upon returning to our room in the evening, we were shocked to find the main door open. It appears the cleaning staff had failed to secure the door after finishing their rounds.
Finding your hotel room left open to the public is, quite frankly, scary. It’s a massive security fail that overshadowed the rest of the stay. While the location is brilliant, the hotel desperately needs to tighten up its staff training and safety protocols.
Would I stay again? Only if I were certain that the security and maintenance issues had been addressed.

GGuest UserI just wanted to follow up regarding the situation we encountered when we arrived. We had booked three double rooms for two nights so that our group could stay together. Unfortunately, we were informed at check-in that one of the rooms had no electricity and couldn’t be used, and one of our friends had to be moved to a different hotel.
We completely understand that unexpected issues can sometimes happen. However, since we specifically booked three rooms in the same hotel so our group could stay together, having one of us placed somewhere else has been quite inconvenient for us and has made it more difficult to coordinate our plans during the trip.
In addition, the hotel that was arranged for our friend was unfortunately of a much lower standard than the one we originally booked. This was quite surprising for us, especially since we had chosen and paid for your hotel expecting a certain level of comfort and experience for everyone in our group.
While we appreciate that your staff tried to find a solution at the time, the overall arrangement has left us feeling rather disappointed with the situation.
We hope you can understand why this has been frustrating for our group, and we would really appreciate it if you could let us know whether there is anything that can be done to help make up for the inconvenience caused.

GGuest UserWhile the property itself is genuinely impressive — excellent location, comfortable facilities, and overall a place I initially enjoyed enough to extend my stay — the appalling conduct of one particular front desk employee rendered the entire experience profoundly disappointing.
Upon my initial arrival, despite providing substantial supporting documentation regarding my identity, including official government verification and police documentation concerning my stolen passport, I was met not with professionalism, understanding, or even basic courtesy, but with extraordinary rudeness, inflexibility, and a deeply concerning lack of competence. Her behaviour was unnecessarily hostile, dismissive, and entirely devoid of the standards one would reasonably expect from anyone representing the hospitality industry.
Fortunately, the evening staff demonstrated what proper customer service should look like: pragmatic, respectful, solution-oriented, and entirely capable of resolving the matter professionally.
Regrettably, when I attempted to extend my stay, I was once again subjected to the same individual’s astonishingly poor judgement and apparent personal hostility. Despite prior successful verification and an already established resolution, she chose to create unnecessary conflict, ultimately escalating the matter to an absurd and deeply distressing level, resulting in police involvement and my removal in the middle of the night, despite having already arranged and paid accordingly.
To be absolutely clear: the establishment itself deserves praise, but the presence of staff members who wield petty authority with such cruelty, inconsistency, and staggering unprofessionalism severely undermines its reputation.
Management would do well to reflect carefully on whether individuals so lacking in discretion, empathy, and professionalism should remain in positions where guest welfare and brand reputation are entrusted to them. One exceptionally poor employee can undo the efforts of an otherwise excellent business.
A truly regrettable example of how dreadful service can overshadow even the finest accommodation.

JJoejo yuI stayed in a 6 people room with a private bathroom and shower. The room was very clean. Although I needed to make my own sheets, it wasn't a problem. The bed and sheets were very comfortable and there were no unpleasant odors. My family and I had a very pleasant stay, especially the bathroom, which was exceptionally clean.
