The hotel was rebuilt from the former bishop's residence. I think the bishop's life was really cool. The hotel is on the mountain. The scenery is really beautiful. It is suitable for the brothers who drive by themselves. The hotel is just outside the town and the scenery is very beautiful.

A small group of eight of us visited for a week commencing 15th May to attend a week long sporting event. Carmona is a very picturesque and atmospheric hill top town with plenty of restaurants and bars - unfortunately for us, it was the week of the May Fair so most of it was closed making it difficult to find meals in the evenings. However, the ice-cream parlour (Helados Arques Los Valencianos)in Plaza de San Fernando was absolutely amazing, delicious gelato made on the premises (the tutti fruitti). We stayed at the Hotel Alcázar de La Reina, having booked some seven months before our stay. The booking was based on pay on arrival, however 1 month before arrival the hotel demanded all of the payment up front. Despite querying this in e-mail and phoning the hotel I was unable to get the hotel to honour the terms of the original booking or for the general manager to return my call. It was immensely frustrating that on checking out, that the advance payments hadn’t been credited to the rooms and it took quite a heated conversation with the receptionist to get it resolved - of course once again the management were absent. The hotel has nice rooms (although the bathrooms are a little tired), the staff in the restaurant (especially Antonio) are fantastic as are the breakfast staff. The management seem non-existent and the reception staff less than helpful. The Parador de Carmona hotel is certainly worth a visit for drinks or a meal with views to die for. We’d definitely visit Carmona again but would not stay at Hotel Alcázar de La Reina, their unscrupulous business practices left a very sour after taste.

And the lack of information continued in the room, nothing, no local sights, no recommendations for restaurants etc. The building and bedroom are in old style Spanish house, quaint and attractive. Comfortable and clean, no tea or coffee facilities, no fridge, WiFi difficult to access and kept dropping off. Breakfast was Spanish style. Juice, coffee, toasted bread with oil, tomatoes and salt to taste. Not exactly sumptuous, just OK to start the day served by a very pleasant lady. Perhaps the receptionist can learn from her and lift the atmosphere of the establishment rather than a bland greeting. Luckily we found parking just 50 metres away otherwise it would be a really long walk. On the plus side it's in the centre for restaurants on Plaza San Fernando.

Despite querying this in e-mail and phoning the hotel I was unable to get the hotel to honour the terms of the original booking or for the general manager to return my call. It was immensely frustrating that on checking out, that the advance payments hadn’t been credited to the rooms and it took quite a heated conversation with the receptionist to get it resolved - of course once again the management were absent. The hotel has nice rooms (although the bathrooms are a little tired), the staff in the restaurant (especially Antonio) are fantastic as are the breakfast staff. The management seem non-existent and the reception staff less than helpful. The Parador de Carmona hotel is certainly worth a visit for drinks or a meal with views to die for. We’d definitely visit Carmona again but would not stay at Hotel Alcázar de La Reina, their unscrupulous business practices left a very sour after taste.

Perhaps the receptionist can learn from her and lift the atmosphere of the establishment rather than a bland greeting. Luckily we found parking just 50 metres away otherwise it would be a really long walk. On the plus side it's in the centre for restaurants on Plaza San Fernando.

However, the ice-cream parlour (Helados Arques Los Valencianos)in Plaza de San Fernando was absolutely amazing, delicious gelato made on the premises (the tutti fruitti). We stayed at the Hotel Alcázar de La Reina, having booked some seven months before our stay. The booking was based on pay on arrival, however 1 month before arrival the hotel demanded all of the payment up front.
