"I finally stayed in a hostel, yay! This was at Eat Mountain 02. I've always had a soft spot for hostels – people from all corners of the world gather here, passing through and sharing their stories. Right after checking in and dropping off my luggage, I saw someone in the group chat asking if anyone wanted to go to Eling Park. So, I teamed up with them and we went to Eling Park, Hongyadong, and Jiefangbei. We even took a 'moto' (motorcycle taxi) at the foot of Hongyadong – I guess that counts as my Chongqing 'visa on arrival' experience! So many people, just crowds and crowds of people! After getting back to the hostel and freshening up, we played a round of Werewolf. I stayed in a 10-bed dorm, and it wasn't full. Everything was pretty good, except for the fact that early risers could be a bit noisy in the morning (my earplugs fell out mid-sleep, and I was near the door). I was in such a rush this time that I didn't get to eat at Eat Mountain, but I hope to have a proper meal there next time. A small detail that immediately impressed me was that they put a protective sleeve on your ID card when you return it after check-in! If it's your first time, the staff will give you a tour of all the areas: drying area, laundry area, pantry, communal kitchen, balcony, women's makeup room, study room, and more. In the evenings, there's a board game room and even a meditation space. You can choose from three types of pillows, and there are individual shoe cabinets and lockers. Check-out is at 12 PM, and there's a free luggage storage area. Everything here is just wonderful! I came back quite late on the first night, and then had to rush off early the next day, so I didn't even get a good look at the public areas. I will definitely stay at Eat Mountain again! The hesitation I felt before my trip completely vanished after I arrived; I'm so glad I decided to come."

"This was my first time staying at a hostel, and I honestly thought that being cheap meant poor quality. To my surprise, it was actually pretty good! The only downside was that the room didn't have a window, but they had a good ventilation system. The bed linens were changed after each guest, and there's a bus stop right outside the door with two light rail stations nearby. The value for money here is incredible! The lockers also have locks, so it felt very secure since only I could open mine. Overall, excellent – five stars, five stars!"

"I booked for the location, right outside xiaoshizi metro exit 9, 10min walk to hongaydong, 15min walk to jeifangbei. Theres a food court below underground and some great stores! The hostel is quiet even though you will see lots of people in the common area, however its not a social place. Everyone keeps to themself... The staff are polite and helpful. I booked the sakura room and its a great size, spacious for a solo traveller, has everything you need. Air con is great, hairdryer, 2 bottles of water daily, cotton bath towels, tv with usb compatibility so you can watch your own tv shows and movies. I would recommend to stay here. There are several cats here - they just sleep all day and night, quiet and super cute!"

"Backpacker's Ten Years is truly as good as its reputation! The bunk beds have curtains and individual power outlets, and the bedding is clean and dry. The bathrooms are spotless with no unpleasant odors. The common areas are spacious and comfortable, and the terrace offers great views. The staff are enthusiastic and proactively share local travel tips. It's a fantastic place to meet fellow travelers from all over, sharing meals and chatting – the atmosphere is just perfect. The location is convenient for getting around. It's my top choice for solo travel, and I'll definitely stay here again on my next trip."

"The room's bed was large and soft, and the curtains were excellent at blocking out light, at just the right height and size for changing clothes behind. The dining area and lobby were also nice; the lobby's bookshelf had books and entertainment like a PS4. The only downside was that during peak hours, the women's restroom squat toilets were all occupied, and the first sliding door to the Western-style toilet was broken. After I used it, I tried to push the door open, but it didn't budge. Instead, it split the flesh and nail of my left middle finger, causing significant bruising."

"1. The curtains on the top bunk let in light, and I suspect it's not just the top bunk; the bottom bunk curtains are also too short. 2. The headboards on the beds are covered in this stuff, looks really dirty. Basic hygiene standards weren't met. 3. There were no bath towels in the room. I asked friends who'd stayed here before, and they said you have to request them yourself, and they're very small. 4. No toiletries were provided in the bathroom, just one bottle of Head & Shoulders that might have been left by a previous guest. 5. The hairdryer was awful, very weak airflow. 6. At night, I could hear the sound of some machinery running in the room; it was very noisy and really affected my sleep. 7. Perhaps it's because they have cats, but the whole hostel smelled terrible. I won't say more. Overall, the experience was very poor, and I won't be coming back. The price was low, so I'm not giving an extremely low rating."

"A zen place in a busy city. This hostel is very special, you can directly feel that the owner put all his heart and passion to create this place. All the roofs are the best way to observe the city from above. I felt like home in that cozy place, the owner his super friendly, and will welcome you with some very good tea. Thanks for this time ✨️"

"It’s the best hostel I’ve been in so far. The owners are really friendly and provide you with some fresh homemade bread. The rooms and the amenities are clean and there are two sit down toilets. It’s close to the city centre, the night market and the metro. They also provide some helpful recommendations for restaurants and activities. Another big bonus is the rooftop terrace and the little balcony in the second floor. It’s a very social hostel and there is always something to do. I would really recommend this place!"

"I blindly picked this hostel for my trip to Chongqing, and it turned out to be a total hidden gem! I have to give it a huge thumbs-up! First off, what surprised me the most was how incredibly clean the room was! As someone who's a bit of a neat freak, walking in to find a perfectly made bed and a spotless floor instantly put me at ease. It felt really comfortable and reassuring. And their online check-in process? Seriously thoughtful! You don't have to awkwardly wait at the front desk; you just tap a few buttons on your phone and you're all set. For travelers like me, who are exhausted and thirsty after a long journey, this detail was an absolute lifesaver – the experience was top-notch! The location couldn't be better either. It's right next to Hongyadong, so you can just stroll downstairs to enjoy the night view, and there are tons of great food options nearby. Getting around, whether by monorail or taxi, is super convenient, making travel completely stress-free. Next time I'm in Chongqing, this will definitely be my first choice. I highly recommend it to anyone planning a trip to this mountain city!"

"First off, a huge thumbs up! This was my first solo trip to Chongqing, and this hostel completely won me over! The location is absolutely perfect – you can walk straight to Jiefangbei and Hongyadong, making it super convenient for sightseeing and grabbing food without wasting time on public transport. The owner is incredibly kind and helpful, patiently answering any questions I had about exploring the city. The common areas have a fantastic vibe, with board game nights organized every evening, making it easy to meet like-minded travelers. The rooftop river-view terrace is the absolute highlight; watching the dazzling night views of the mountain city while enjoying the river breeze in the evening creates an incredible atmosphere. Plus, there are two adorable, cuddly cats in the hostel, which is a huge bonus and very therapeutic. The rooms are clean, tidy, and well-equipped, offering fantastic value for money. For an affordable price, you get a real sense of belonging – I never felt lonely traveling solo. I'll definitely choose this place again next time I'm in Chongqing!"
