"An experience at a Japanese onsen guesthouse that exceeded expectations, and my first guesthouse stay in Japan! When I dropped off my luggage, the host meticulously disinfected the wheels with alcohol. Upon check-in, the owner gave a detailed explanation of the hotel facilities. The room was a traditional Japanese tatami style. As soon as you enter, there's the restroom. I have to mention, the Japanese really do practice water recycling here; the water from the sink directly flows into the toilet tank. The room also had a private onsen, and the owner thoughtfully provided tea and sweets. The biggest highlight of this place is taking a cable car to the top floor to enjoy the natural outdoor onsen bath – it was absolutely wonderful. When we left, the uncle personally carried our luggage to the entrance (to protect the old facility, you can't push luggage inside), which was a huge plus! Afterward, they offered a complimentary ride to Ito Station. The only thing that could be improved: I hope the bathrobes are clean."

"We chose Kameya Rakuan, recommended by fellow travelers. After finishing our trip at Shimoda Park, we took the Izu Kyuko Line to Ito. The hotel is a convenient 5-minute walk from Ito Station, and the path is flat, making it easy to handle luggage. The hotel staff, though a bit older, had some key information prepared in both Chinese and Japanese, so there were no language barriers. Our room was on the 6th floor, accessible by elevator. The futon beds were already set up in the tatami room. The bathroom had a separate wet and dry area. The hotel offers two public onsen, Galaxy and Deep Sea, as well as a private onsen, all free of charge. The private onsen can be used if it's unlocked. The Galaxy and Deep Sea baths swap between male and female use at 2 AM, so be sure to check before you soak. Japanese yukata can be picked up on the first floor. Our room faced east, offering a sunrise view, but unfortunately, it was too cloudy that day for a perfect view. Overall, this hotel offers excellent value for money."

"We were very satisfied with both the room and the service. I highly recommend booking a package that includes both breakfast and dinner to experience the full Japanese service. For families or couples, after checking in, you can use the in-room phone (dial 8) to reserve a 50-minute private family bath session with the front desk. (You might be able to get the key a bit earlier depending on availability.) The cost is about 1680 JPY, which is quite reasonable. Prices for additional drinks, meals, and SPA services are also within a sensible range. One thing to note is that the hotel is located halfway up a hill, so I don't recommend walking there if you have large luggage. You can contact the hotel in advance to inquire about shuttle bus options or take a taxi from Ito Station. If you absolutely must walk, do not follow Google Maps' route from Minami-Ito Station, as this path involves climbing stairs and going over a hill."

"Pros: The room with a private hot spring bath was quite spacious, offering the experience of both a Japanese-style tatami mat and a regular bed. On the second floor, there are two washing machines and two dryers available; you can exchange 100-yen coins at the front desk to use them. The distance to Ito Station is decent, and along the way, you'll pass MaxValue (Aeon) and 7-Eleven, where you can stock up on water and snacks. There's also a handmade soba restaurant that tastes pretty good. The room was generally clean, and the price was reasonable, comparable to hot spring hotels in China, and possibly even cheaper during the off-season, with more convenient transportation. Cons: If it rains when you're heading to the hotel, carrying luggage can be quite a hassle. The hotel doesn't provide many disposable amenities, such as bottled water, combs, toothbrushes, and toothpaste. The hotel's decor is quite classic, the lighting isn't very bright, and the worst issue of all was the sewer smell from the toilet."

"It's about a ten-minute drive from Izu Kogen Station. The hotel is quite large, divided into several areas, ranging from luxury to economy. We booked a Japanese-style suite in the main building with a great view. The hotel has many free facilities that you can check on the map and experience one by one. The hot spring facility next door has an open-air bath. Soaking in the hot springs by the moonlit sea at night was very relaxing, with the constant sound of the waves. The breakfast included sashimi and various snacks, which was quite rich, but the selection was almost identical for two consecutive days. I'm giving three stars for service, specifically for the front desk. This hotel has quite a few Indian staff members. So why only three stars? The 5th, 6th, and 7th floors of the hotel all have scenic ocean view rooms, but Chinese guests are always assigned to the 5th floor or rooms near the elevator. Having stayed at many hotels, I can sense the subtle discrimination and differential treatment here. If the price booked through Ctrip is lower than what Japanese tourists pay, then disregard my comment. Finally, this hotel is very family-friendly, perfect for those with children. If you prefer quiet, a hotel of this size won't be quiet at all; you should choose a smaller onsen ryokan instead."

"The Japanese-style tatami room was very clean and tidy. The bathroom had a small bathtub, but this wasn't an issue considering the 24-hour rotating male and female onsen (hot spring) facilities. One of the onsen pools is outdoors and offers a great view. Language isn't a problem here; the front desk has multi-language translation cards for most inquiries. The hotel is located in a quiet small town. There's a 7-Eleven about a 7-minute walk away where you can buy instant food. The subway station is about a 15-minute walk, with some slight uphill and downhill sections, but it's manageable."

"A good, but not new, hotel. It boasts a huge golf course, and indeed, the vast majority of guests are golfers who come for a weekend getaway to play without venturing down the mountain. If you have your own car, getting there is convenient. However, for exploring the region, the location isn't ideal; this hotel isn't really set up for that. You can, however, reach Ippeki Lake. I actually walked to the Komuroyama lift in 35 minutes through the camellia garden. From there, you can descend to Kawana Dolphin Beach, but the path isn't particularly convenient, and there are no direct buses. The closest bus stops to the hotel are in Yoshida, and from there, it's a 15-20 minute uphill walk along the road. You won't get lost, as there are plenty of signs. But it's not a straightforward or super easy route, especially if you have a lot of luggage. The rooms are quite standard. They have all the essentials: a kettle with green tea, a fridge, a TV, and various shampoos and gels in the bathroom (yes, there's a bathtub in the room). You can even see Mount Fuji from the window. The hotel itself has an interesting interior with cool details, such as an aesthetically pleasing lounge area before the dining room. The breakfast is good. Everything is tasty and varied; it’s definitely a step up from a basic economy hotel. There are fruits, vegetables, drinks, omelets, rice... and various meat and fish dishes, which I don't really pay attention to since I rarely eat them, but they were there. I didn't get to try the hot springs at the hotel, so I can't comment on them. Since I had already done a lot of hiking in the mountains over a few days, I requested a transfer for check-out. I was the only passenger! It took 7 minutes to Kawana Station, and a train to Ito/Atami was leaving 10 minutes later. Overall, it's an excellent hotel if you're not planning to spend a week traveling along the coast from here. For that purpose, it would be better to find something closer to the sea."

"This is a cozy and exquisite Japanese-style villa hotel. It's not very big, with a limited number of rooms, but the overall environment is clean, tidy, and relatively new in terms of decor. The surrounding area is peaceful with pleasant scenery. The best part is the two private small hot spring baths, perfect for relaxing. There are also two convenient small eateries nearby, which can satisfy basic dining needs. The only downsides are its remote location and not-so-obvious signage, making it a bit challenging to find for first-time visitors. However, the owner is very friendly and kind, speaking both Japanese and Mandarin, so communication is completely hassle-free. Overall, this is a hidden gem for escaping the hustle and bustle and exploring Izu in depth!"

"Kira no Sato Hotel was the most pleasant surprise of my Izu trip. It's a large Japanese resort with a beautiful environment, resembling a traditional Japanese village. They also offer some very interesting activities, like nostalgic toys, and during my stay, I even encountered a rice harvesting experience. Only the Bamboo Flute room type at this hotel comes with a private onsen, which is a large circular tub easily accommodating two people. Additionally, there are three public private onsens. If you see a key on the signboard, you can take it to unlock the door and use it, then return the key to the signboard when you're done. However, the truly excellent part is their main public bathhouse. The facilities are very complete and modern. Besides the indoor baths and sauna, there's also an outdoor rock bath. The stones in the bath are polished smooth, so there's no need to worry about scrapes. Surprisingly, the main bathhouse was rarely crowded. Because it's so spacious, you don't encounter many people, and often you even get to enjoy a bath all to yourself, which is quite comfortable. The bathhouse provides milk during the day and ice cream at night, which is a thoughtful touch. The hotel also offers soba noodles in the afternoon and late at night, and there are small snacks in the restaurant, so you never have to worry about going hungry. This time I stayed in the Bamboo Flute room, which is a traditional Japanese-style room. As such, it shares a characteristic of traditional Japanese rooms: the lighting isn't very bright. While it creates a great ambiance, some people might find it a bit dim. If this is a concern, you might consider other room types. Overall, after two days at Kira no Sato, I still felt like I hadn't had enough. This place is really enjoyable."
