"We stayed one night breaking a journey to Scotland. When we got into the bedroom, the light wasn’t working , we reported this and were offered an exchange, but that room had problems with the taps, so we managed without the main light - we were told they do not have any maintenance staff to repair it. It was late afternoon and we were tired, so we decided to eat at the hotel. They gave us 2 menu’s, one was a set menu for a coach party that were staying, and the other the standard menu. When my husband went to order off the set menu, we were told it had been withdrawn due to the coach party cancelling. My husband queried as to whether there would be a chef, and the lady on reception said yes. We then went to eat, we were the only people in the restaurant, ordered nachos as a starter, a pizza and fish cake, chips and veg as a main meal. The bar staff had difficulty putting the order through, so they got the reception lady who had booked us in, she then put the food through which we had to pay up front. We waited quite a while, then the food came all at once, instead of the starter first. The nachos were just Dorito style crisps with melted cheddar style cheese on top, all congealed with a side of salsa and guacamole - they were awful (picture to follow) no sour cream. The pizza was OK, the fish cakes and chips were inedible, the chips were not cooked and the veg completely dried up and again inedible (picture to follow). Whilst waiting for the food we were brought condiments, I checked the dates on the condiments (I usually do) and the majority were out of date, some dating back to December 2025. I complained about my meal and it was sent back - the lady from reception took it (she had served it) and also apologised about the condiments, saying they were checked every few days, which clearly wasn’t true. My food returned, better cooked this time but not great - by this time we were suspicious as to whether there was actually a chef, we asked a member of staff who had cooked the food and were told it was the lady on reception that had cooked as the chef had gone home! When she returned with the food my husband asked her whether there was a chef, initially she said yes, then when challenged she said because the coach party had cancelled their meals (we found out later they cancelled because the food had been so awful the night before), the chef had gone home! So the lady on reception had cooked the food, my husband asked her whether she had any food hygiene/catering experience and she said yes, but somehow I doubt it. We then asked for a refund on my meal and the starter, to which she said she couldn’t do but offered us ice cream instead (which we declined). To cut a long story short, my husband spoke to the manager in the morning who said he would look into it and he couldn’t issue a refund, then a few days later following an email from my husband the area manager gave us a complete refund for the food. We have stayed at many Best We"

"On arrival I was greeted with staff who looked and acted fed up, they could see I was disabled and used a walking stick, no one offered to open the door to the rooms which was very heavy. Once through said door I was hit with the most disgusting smell and spoke to the poor couple who's bathroom it was coming from. They told me they'd reported it but was only offered the room next door which also smelled. The carpet in the corridor to the rooms was disgusting covered in stains. I only ate there 1 night as the food was microwaved and obviously bought in precooked, the walls were covered in marks which could've done with a lick of paint. Outside the hotel was littered with cigarette butt's. Staff never smiled and always looked and acted like they were fed up and obviously couldn't even to pretend to enjoy their jobs and always made me feel like I was bothering them. I know Kendal and know this hotel is relatively new but you'd never know it. After recently staying in a Premier Inn in Glasgow I was shocked at the difference. It may be a so called budget hotel but they certainly don't have budget prices. "

Given the cost of. £ 16, 95 for the main course , which consisted of the meat , mashed potatoes , cabbage accompanied by a luke warm jelly gravy . No roast potatoes , cold plates , poor quality , A child's. fish + chips with NO fish content unless paste, greasy, inedible . Drinks on top , premium prics . Tatty surroundings . Ήρθε το μενού και μας έδειξε τα ειδικευμένα. Και το φαγητό ήταν ζεστό και νόστιμο, είχαμε επιλέξει το ψητό δείπνο από το μενού και τα δύο ήταν καλά μερίδια και καλή ποιότητα σε πολύ λογική τιμή, όπως και τα ποτά. Πολύ καλά αξίζει μια επίσκεψη. Ευχαριστώ και πάλι το προσωπικό."

"We stayed in Room 212 and found it very difficult to sleep. Throughout the night, there was a constant noise that sounded like running taps. We mentioned this to the receptionist, but unfortunately nothing was done. The walls seemed to be very thin, and we could hear everything from the room next door, including people using the toilet and other everyday noises. This made it impossible to get a good night’s sleep."

"It's a service station Hotel which has got the standard McDonald's Costa ect however not near much else for the money you pay only worth it for the lake which is stunning. The hotel receptionist was lovely and friendly the room was a little disappointing, bath very shallow and wall tiles painted white with what looks like either the wrong kind of paint or cheap tile paint as all peeling off so if it had been 20 pounds cheaper I would have felt like I got what I paid for overall not bad and bed was very comfortable."

"The online booking service was very straightforward and was completed in a matter of moments. On arrival at Travelodge Kendal we were welcomed by Abbey who was very friendly and helpful. She was also able to recommend places to eat; we selected one of the place and we enjoyed an excellent meal. The hotel was very clean and tidy. Our room had been recently refurbished and upgraded. The bed was very comfortable and we enjoyed a good night’s sleep. All in all, an excellent experience."

"Room was clean and comfortable. Connecting to the Internet and paying for parking was very slow and frustrating with staff unable or unwilling to help. Breakfast was a disappointment, when we arrived for breakfast, the hot food counter was almost empty and replenishing items was painfully slow. Evening meal was ok. Had to pay for both motorcycles parking, despite them using a single parking space, usually we either don't pay for motorcycle parking or we pay for the number of spaces used, not the number of motorcycles"
