"The hotel is looking and feeling very tired and dated and in serious need of upgrading.  They’re charging 2025 prices for 1980 standard services.  They clearly cater for bus tours and large parties which are not there to appreciate where they are and their surroundings.  There was serious problem with running hot water in the room as well as in the showers in the spa.  I overheard many guests complaining about no hot water in their rooms at reception.   Breakfast was very disappointing, they offer a continental selection of one type of cold meat and one type of sliced cheese with pan loaf bread!  Fort William boasts artisan bakery’s so no excuse there.  During breakfast very loud 80s movie themed music is blaring, the dining room is so big there’s practically a speaker above every second table.  When asked to turn it down we were met with a standard reply, “I was just asked to turn it up”. Totally unbelievable.  Due to the large parties tables are not cleared fast enough nor cleaned, we had to clean and set our own table before we could eat and this is where we were directed to sit. Waiting staff are clearly not trained nor directed appropriately for a hotel boasting a high standard.  We were not encouraged to dine in the hotel at all. The exterior of the building is not only showing signs of disrepair but is also very dirty. They are missing the B in the main signage and is the first thing you see on arrival.   Positives:  the room was clean although all views from most rooms do not look out onto anything nice.  Temperature of the pool, steam room and jacuzzi excellent.  The lounge bar appeared to have the best atmosphere and felt like a highland hotel. Would I recommend this hotel? Definitely not!   Would I stay there again? Definitely not!"

"Prices start at £4 or £5 per night... This is an old castle hotel on the west side of the Scottish Highlands. From a common area point of view everything is well done and impeccable. But from the point of view of the rooms...the price/performance ratio is obviously super low. The facilities are outdated, so I asked for a humidifier... A hair dryer that was produced 20 years ago came, which was completely unacceptable and had no humidifying effect at all. The shower room has very strict requirements on the size of the guests, and I personally feel that the water pressure can be further improved and improved. The laudable point is that the shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and soap in the bathroom...all have two ball royal certifications, and the quality is also carried. The cold and hot water device of the washbasin is a traditional separate type, which is the kind of water that you either use cold water or hot water, and it cannot be warm water anyway. The sofa in the guest room is made of fabric. The disadvantage is that you can't see whether it has lice or whether it is clean. Anyway, it is so old that people don't want to sit on it at all. The carpet is lint-free, which means it's ”aged”. Well, let's talk about the public area: the restaurant's production is still quite standard, with Michelin standards, whether it's dinner or breakfast... It's pretty good, but the quality of the coffee is not good. The service staff are warm, courteous, serious and smiling. There are several casual living rooms and even dining rooms in the indoor public area, all of which are luxurious, comfortable, freehand, and comfortable, and there is nothing to fault. There are a large number of areas in the outdoor woods and paths that need to be improved, such as greening projects. One last thing to add: parking is free. After all, the owner, Mr. Chai, is a Chinese from Southeast Asia. The land of the ancient castle covers an area of 5,000 acres... If parking charges are required... it would be too stingy. In general...you can say that it is an ancient European style, but I personally think that the ancient European style does not necessarily need to update or refresh the facilities and furniture. Especially with such a large area, if the greening is not done well... it really responds to the old saying ”gold and jade are outside, and there is nothing in it”."

"I go to this hotel for hiking in Ben Nevis. This hotel is not far away, just 15 mins car drive. The hotel is clean and the bathroom with good supply with hot water. View from the window is beautiful. For the price which have 2 tasty dinners and buffet breakfast is good deal. Also, live band at night is also enjoyable. I recommend this hotel to everyone."

"The surroundings are beautiful and peaceful. The lake is right outside the room, a great place to watch the sunrise and sunset. The scenery is breathtaking. There's a large supermarket just a 10-minute drive away, so you can buy groceries and cook them yourself. It's a great place to spend the holiday!"

"The hotel's biggest advantage in Fort William is its location. Just turn right from the train station and it's about a five-minute walk away. There's no uphill walk at all, and the road is flat, making it very convenient for those with luggage. We didn't have breakfast, but the hotel's facilities are decent. There's a large supermarket just down the road from the train station, with self-service laundry facilities nearby."

"It's a pretty good hotel for a small town, but the restaurant is a bit slow to serve food; we had to wait a while for breakfast and dinner. Other than that, the environment and cleanliness are quite good. I recommend it."
