"This was my first solo trip to Japan, and it was a spontaneous decision. Due to my procrastination, I only started booking accommodations two days in advance. Hotels near Izu Kogen and Atami were all booked, so I booked this place. But once I arrived, I felt incredibly comfortable. The hotel is in a very quiet location with beautiful scenery. The hotel facilities are also very new, and the staff are all incredibly warm and welcoming. There were Chinese ladies, as well as Japanese gentlemen and ladies. They were very polite, not in a distant or aloof way, but in a sunny, cheerful, and warm manner. Dinner was also delicious, with lobster, abalone, and many different ways of preparing golden snapper – it was all so fresh! In the morning, a soak in the hot spring is all it takes to head to Izu Kogen. I really, really want to come back here again. Personally, I don't want too many people to discover this wonderful hotel, as I'm worried I won't be able to book it later, but I still really hope they continue to improve."

"The location is excellent, very close to Shimizu Station, and right next to the Shimizu Ginza shopping street. It's about a 15-minute walk to Shimizu Port. The room was bigger than I expected, and the bathroom and toilet were separate. You can hear the train at night, but it wasn't too bothersome. The front desk staff spoke very good English."

"The hotel boasts a unique hot spring elevator, an old-fashioned yet well-maintained lift, and both outdoor and indoor hot springs. Our flight was delayed that afternoon, causing us to miss dinner. We contacted the hotel via email, and the manager kindly held dinner for us. Upon arrival, after a brief introduction to the hotel, we were served a warm Japanese meal. Traditional Japanese onsen hotels typically offer a 'one night, two meals' plan, with breakfast and dinner delivered to your room by a lovely elderly lady. The room we booked was quite spacious, featuring a separate tea-drinking area. The hotel is situated on higher ground, offering views of the tangerine trees in the backyard and the distant sea from our window. It's about a 15-minute walk from the JR station, which is a little far, but the town itself isn't very large. You can even hear the sound of the trains from the hotel."

"This stay at inatori got to be one of the best decisions made. The room came with an absolutely stunning sea view which made this trip from the bustling city worth it!! You need to add the breakfast and dinner to your package too because the food served are top quality and so so delicious. We ate till we were stuffed every single night!! There’s no other hotel that come close to this amazing experience we had here. We also enjoyed the private onsen which can be booked by paying +$$ As the place is very much catered to local tourists, most of the menu, instructions are in Japanese, so just use your translator app if you have any questions! They do have staff who can speak English / mandarin!"

"Our trip to Izu was a pleasant surprise! We were incredibly lucky to catch the Tang House private onsen just as it finished construction and opened for guests. Although the new private bath isn't huge, it offers excellent privacy, a quiet atmosphere, and is wonderfully comfortable. After a hot day of sightseeing, filled with heat and exhaustion, a short soak in the onsen washed all the fatigue away – it was incredibly therapeutic. The host thoughtfully arranged a pick-up from Izu Kogen Station and even dropped me off directly at Mount Omuro. The house itself is stylishly decorated and has a great ambiance. Before checking in, I was a bit worried about the shared bathroom, but my concerns were completely unfounded. The space was sparkling clean and bright, and even had disinfectant provided – the hygiene details were meticulously handled. I absolutely *must* praise the host's Biangbiang noodles; the chili oil was incredibly addictive! As someone from Xi'an myself, I found the flavor exceptionally authentic. The noodles were perfectly chewy, and the seasoning was spot on. Eating such genuine hometown flavors in a foreign country brought immense happiness. Communication with the host was easy and smooth. Overall, the stay was impeccable, and I'll definitely choose this place again on my next trip to Izu. I wholeheartedly recommend it!"

"We chose Kameya Rakuan, recommended by fellow travelers. After finishing our trip at Shimoda Park, we took the Izu Kyuko Line to Ito. The hotel is a convenient 5-minute walk from Ito Station, and the path is flat, making it easy to handle luggage. The hotel staff, though a bit older, had some key information prepared in both Chinese and Japanese, so there were no language barriers. Our room was on the 6th floor, accessible by elevator. The futon beds were already set up in the tatami room. The bathroom had a separate wet and dry area. The hotel offers two public onsen, Galaxy and Deep Sea, as well as a private onsen, all free of charge. The private onsen can be used if it's unlocked. The Galaxy and Deep Sea baths swap between male and female use at 2 AM, so be sure to check before you soak. Japanese yukata can be picked up on the first floor. Our room faced east, offering a sunrise view, but unfortunately, it was too cloudy that day for a perfect view. Overall, this hotel offers excellent value for money."

"Paid a fortune for a hotel that was utterly ordinary. The breakfast and dinner were all show – fancy-looking dishes with no real substance or flavor. I can't understand why they charge such high room rates. The room itself was old, and there were so many mosquitoes I couldn't sleep a wink. The in-room hot spring was just an old, small, tiled bathtub. Aside from the hot spring, there were no other facilities to enjoy. In all my years of traveling, this is the first time I've ever booked a hotel with such terrible value for money. If it were around 2000 RMB a night, it might be acceptable, but anything more is completely not worth it. Everything was subpar except for the good service."

"Pros: The room with a private hot spring bath was quite spacious, offering the experience of both a Japanese-style tatami mat and a regular bed. On the second floor, there are two washing machines and two dryers available; you can exchange 100-yen coins at the front desk to use them. The distance to Ito Station is decent, and along the way, you'll pass MaxValue (Aeon) and 7-Eleven, where you can stock up on water and snacks. There's also a handmade soba restaurant that tastes pretty good. The room was generally clean, and the price was reasonable, comparable to hot spring hotels in China, and possibly even cheaper during the off-season, with more convenient transportation. Cons: If it rains when you're heading to the hotel, carrying luggage can be quite a hassle. The hotel doesn't provide many disposable amenities, such as bottled water, combs, toothbrushes, and toothpaste. The hotel's decor is quite classic, the lighting isn't very bright, and the worst issue of all was the sewer smell from the toilet."

"The hotel has good money value and provides excellent facilities and services, I can’t complain anything. From the photos it seems the bunk beds are not very good, actually quite good. It has public bath, very clean, washing machine (I saw the staff cleaning the filter, very good). Also it has library with heaps of anime books and free to borrow."

"This is a charmingly rustic onsen hotel. The room doors even have old-fashioned doorknobs. I booked a renovated, newer room type for one night, which featured separate shower and toilet areas. The hotel offers a shuttle service to the station; I saw staff holding the hotel's sign before I even left the station exit. Upon arrival, I was warmly greeted by staff. Check-in was smooth, with the front desk patiently explaining everything. The sixth floor provides tea and snacks at certain times of the day. Dinner was quite good; knowing we were Chinese guests, they specially arranged for a Chinese-speaking attendant. He was very enthusiastic, introducing each dish, and the ingredients were fresh. The main course, pan-fried alfonsino, was delicious. The bathhouse is large and includes outdoor pools, and the onsen water is excellent and very relaxing. In the evenings, there are local citrus jellies in a small fridge by the bathhouse entrance – a perfect treat after a soak. Breakfast was also very extensive. If you're doing an in-depth tour of Izu, staying here for two nights (I believe staying two consecutive nights also includes a complimentary lunch) is an excellent choice before heading further south. Afterward, you can take the shuttle back to Izu-Nagaoka Station. Previous reviews mentioned some guests feeling discriminated against as Chinese visitors, but I didn't experience that. As for stuffy rooms or strong smells, it's pretty common for older Japanese-style hotel rooms to have the natural scent of cypress, bamboo, and tatami mats. I believe only the fourth floor has renovated rooms with separate bathrooms. I personally can't stand showers with bathtubs, so I specifically looked into it, and soon after, Trip.com offered upgraded room options. Yes, the restaurant did have a slight cooking smell, but it was tolerable. In short, for guests who are very particular and demanding, Izu might not be the best choice, as there are very few international luxury hotels here. I hope this review is helpful to others. Some small surprises are best experienced for yourselves!"
