"This hotel offers convenient ski-in/ski-out access, perfect for skiers. The open-air onsen is fantastic; a soak after a day on the slopes really helps to relieve fatigue! The room was spacious, but unfortunately, the central air conditioning meant guests couldn't adjust the room temperature, making it a bit too warm. The buffet breakfast and dinner, especially the Japanese food, were decent, but the Western options were just average. Overall, it was okay."

"Although the room rate isn't cheap, I think overall it's a hotel with excellent value for money. Firstly, the hotel environment itself is superb. It's spacious with lots of greenery, including a lake, trees, lawns, and small villas, making it very pleasant for a stroll. Secondly, there are hot springs and a shuttle service. Plus, right next to the hotel is a beautiful and very large outlet mall, offering convenient dining options. The shuttle runs in a loop, taking guests to JR Karuizawa Station and the outlets. Even though it's not a far walk to the outlets anyway. The hot springs ♨️ are free for hotel guests and include outdoor baths and a sauna. The hotel also has a golf course, which we didn't visit, but we saw staff assisting guests with their golf clubs in the morning. The only downside is that the hotel is quite large, and some guest rooms are a bit of a walk from the front desk. The West Wing is closer to the shopping plaza, while the East Wing is closer to the ski resort. It seems the West and East Wings are booked separately. The rooms are not small, and the window views are very pleasant. All in all, it's a hotel I would happily choose to stay at again."

"I used this hotel for my trip this time, and overall, I had a very comfortable stay. First, the hotel's location was great, with convenient access to the surrounding areas. It was easy to get around for sightseeing and dining, making it a very convenient base for my trip. The hotel's interior and guest rooms were clean and had a calm atmosphere. The room had all the necessary amenities, allowing me to relax and rest after a tiring day of traveling. The bed was also comfortable, and I slept well through the night. The staff were polite and attentive, and I didn't encounter any issues from check-in to check-out. They kindly answered my questions, which made for a worry-free stay. Considering the price, I was very satisfied, and I felt it offered good value for money. I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying for sightseeing purposes. Although it was a short stay this time, I would like to use this hotel again if I have the opportunity. Overall, it was a very satisfying stay."

"I specifically booked this hotel for a golf trip. It's about a 10-minute walk from JR Karuizawa Station, and they offer free, on-demand shuttle service. Right outside the hotel (a 5-minute walk) is the Prince Outlet, and you can access the ski lifts directly, making it a one-stop shop for shopping, skiing, and more. The hotel's forest hot spring (separate for men and women) features floor-to-ceiling windows with views of the snow or lush trees, offering a truly therapeutic experience. The property includes a main building and forest cabins, all surrounded by trees, ensuring a quiet and peaceful stay. The rooms are comfortable and spacious. The cabins come with a private garden and an outdoor hot spring, definitely worth staying in."

"If you're coming for skiing, and prioritize value for money and comfort, this hotel is truly worth recommending. The staff are generally very warm and attentive, and they're very knowledgeable about ski-related details: helping with sending and receiving ski equipment and luggage. The entire check-in process was very reassuring and saved a lot of energy and time. Regarding meals: Breakfast is Japanese style, relatively simple but sufficient. However, dinner truly exceeded expectations: the dishes were varied and tasted excellent. If you stay for multiple days, there will be some repetition in the menu, but the overall quality is very high. For those who don't mind repetition, it's perfectly fine. For this price point, the value for money is really outstanding. Skiing convenience: The ski resort bus stop is right across the road from the hotel's back exit, very close. Even with a lot of ski gear, it's not tiring. After skiing, you can return to the hotel and immediately enjoy the hot springs, which is very comfortable. This significantly enhances the experience for those who ski consecutively. The hotel has hot springs, which are very refreshing after skiing. The rooms vary in age: Japanese-style rooms are relatively older, though some have been renovated. The rooms are very warm, making for a comfortable stay in winter. If you're coming to Hakuba/surrounding areas for skiing and want good value, delicious food, and hot springs, without prioritizing nightlife but focusing more on practicality and comfort, I highly recommend choosing this place."

"Our family made a special trip from Tokyo to Nagano, and besides exploring the surrounding attractions, watching the snow monkeys soaking in the hot springs of Nozawa, and visiting the Togakushi Shrine, the highlight of this trip was staying at Issa no Komichi Biyu no Yado. "There are several Prince Hotels in Karuizawa, and this one is 5-star but a bit old. To get to the hot springs or the outlet mall, you have to take a shuttle bus. The hotel rooms are laid out in a long corridor, so if you're unlucky enough to get a room in the 50s, you'll feel like you're walking forever. The scenery, however, is quite nice, as it directly faces the golf course. Besides providing shuttle buses to the hot springs, outlet mall, and train station, the hotel also offers private car service during off-hours. The concierge also has free bicycle rentals (electric and non-electric). What's really great is that upon check-out, you can arrange to have your luggage delivered directly to a service point at the outlet mall (this is excellent, no need to drag your own bags to catch a ride). All in all, it's still pretty good."

I waited for half an hour with no one attending to me. When a large group of tourists arrived, the front desk became crowded. After inquiring again, I was told there was no escort service to the rooms and I had to find my way myself. At 3:30 PM, housekeeping was still ongoing in the room areas. The room space was cramped, and the view was unremarkable. For a room rate of over 4,000 yuan, the hardware and service provided were far from satisfactory. The hotel's Italian restaurant had decent food, but it wasn't positioned as a high-end restaurant, and the wine list was very limited. The next day, I asked the front desk to call a taxi to the restaurant. For some reason, perhaps they didn't understand English, there was a long delay. After further communication, a car was arranged half an hour later, which was baffling. Considering all these experiences, I will not choose this hotel again in the future."

What a treat to enjoy complimentary beer after the sauna in the afternoon! 🥰 The breakfast buffet offered a fantastic variety of dishes; you could tell everything was freshly prepared by a chef, not just pre-packaged. They've really thought of everyone: there's milk and soy milk for those with lactose intolerance, full-fat, low-fat, and fat-free yogurt options, and even three different miso pastes so you can customize your miso soup. Although the room rate isn't cheap, I think overall it's a hotel with excellent value for money. Firstly, the hotel environment itself is superb. It's spacious with lots of greenery, including a lake, trees, lawns, and small villas, making it very pleasant for a stroll. Secondly, there are hot springs and a shuttle service. Plus, right next to the hotel is a beautiful and very large outlet mall, offering convenient dining options. The shuttle runs in a loop, taking guests to JR Karuizawa Station and the outlets. Even though it's not a far walk to the outlets anyway. The hot springs ♨️ are free for hotel guests and include outdoor baths and a sauna. The hotel also has a golf course, which we didn't visit, but we saw staff assisting guests with their golf clubs in the morning. The only downside is that the hotel is quite large, and some guest rooms are a bit of a walk from the front desk. The West Wing is closer to the shopping plaza, while the East Wing is closer to the ski resort. It seems the West and East Wings are booked separately. The rooms are not small, and the window views are very pleasant. All in all, it's a hotel I would happily choose to stay at again.

Absolutely impressed! It truly lives up to its reputation as a resort town – peaceful, beautiful, and with amazing views. The rooms were incredibly clean, the service was excellent, and the onsen was a perfect 100. The classic-style rooms were clean and cozy, with high-quality furniture. I would definitely return if I have the chance. Parking is free for those with cars, and the hotel also offers a shuttle service for train travelers. The food is high-quality, and the restaurant, rooms, onsen, and views are simply stunning.

What an awesome experience! The hotel offered exemplary service before we even arrived. Due to special travel arrangements, we arrived late and the staff quick to arrange an in-room bento dinner for us before our arrival. When we got there, we were immediately blown away by the gorgeousness of the hotel. Despite its age, everything was very clean and polished. I can see that great care had been taken to upkeep the hotel and it’s premises, which are extraordinarily beautiful. We couldn’t resist taking pictures even after check-out, and it took us an hour to finally reluctantly leave. Words cannot actually do the place justice, you must visit there yourself. We were very impressed with how delicious the food was, and the attention to detail, including the placement of the food, the coordination of food color. My mouth is still watering as I recall how delicious it was. I had 10 helpings of their prime rib one day. Besides, I had a dietary restriction and the staff were really careful with that, to the extent of reminding me what dishes not to eat everyday at their breakfast and dinner buffet. In addition to excellent food and service, the hotel went out of its way to be very eco-friendly. For every day that we did not need our room to be tidied, we earned points, which can be traded in for ice cream or other goodies. Finally, the staff spoke perfect English. This is rare indeed, and it made everything so much easier and so much more enjoyable. Thanks for the experience!

This is probably the newest hotel in the area right now. It has that chain hotel style, and even though I've stayed in many places like it, it still feels incredibly comfortable. The feeling of taking off your shoes right when you walk in and just walking around is absolutely wonderful!!!

I stayed at this hotel for one night, and overall, it was quite a pleasant experience. I really liked my room — it was clean, modern, and comfortable. The only thing that surprised me was that the window to the balcony didn’t open, though I suppose it was designed that way. The onsen was absolutely wonderful — spacious, relaxing, and with a beautiful view of a mountain river. Definitely one of the highlights of my stay. The hotel also offers many different areas for leisure and entertainment. You can play table tennis, relax in cozy rest zones, visit small cafés and shops — there’s a lot to explore without even leaving the building. Both breakfast and dinner were delicious, with a wide variety of food to choose from. However, due to the number of guests, it was a bit challenging for the staff to manage everything smoothly. On two occasions, someone almost took my table, even though I had already placed the reservation card on it to show it was taken. That said, the staff overall were very pleasant, friendly, and helpful, and I appreciated their attitude throughout my stay. This hotel is clearly family-oriented, with many families staying with young children. There are rooms with child-friendly designs and dedicated play areas, so if you’re looking for a quiet, adult-only atmosphere, this might not be the best fit. That said, I genuinely enjoyed my stay and would consider coming back.

This is the first time I stayed at a Hoshino resort. Perhaps my expectations were too high.  Food quality was the best reason to stay here. The restaurant offers an elaborate menu. The onsen is the next big feature of the hotel. It was not as big as seen in the advertisement. Perhaps wide angle was used. Location was not great. Not much to do nearby. The free transfers to Omachi helped to kill time if you have no plan to ski at Hakuba.  Service was patchy. Below are two examples: 1) Asked reception about train tickets conditions in general but the response was we are not train company. We know that but would appreciate help in calling into the train company or checking their website in Japanese. 2) Over a supposedly fancy dinner, the server was rushing us to finish by asking us to move unfinished food items from one plate or another by ourselves to make space for the next dish. I would have expected the server to wait for us. On another occasion, the server left the next dish on the table, with lid closed, without explaining what it is. We were not sure if we should start eating or wait. The server came back in a few minutes realizing that she had not explained to us yet and apologized.  With better service and things to do nearby, the hotel will see happier customers.

We had a wonderful stay and truly enjoyed every moment. The hostess is incredibly welcoming and a genuinely lovely person — she even kindly drove us to the train station, which we deeply appreciated. The breakfast was outstanding, and the onsen was beautiful and very peaceful. Having a private onsen was especially convenient, as it allowed us to enjoy the experience together as a family without needing to separate. Our room was very spacious and authentically Japanese, with excellent-quality bedding. The mattresses, pillows, and high quality shits  were exceptionally comfortable and made for a perfect night’s sleep. A lovely touch was the complimentary milk served in adorable small glass bottles — delicious and charming. The location is simply ideal: perfectly situated near public onsens and great restaurants, truly the best location one could imagine. We would happily return and highly recommend this stay to anyone looking for comfort, authenticity, and warm hospitality.

This was my first experience at a mountain hotel with hot springs. It was a pleasant surprise to encounter staff who spoke many languages. The atmosphere was very intelligent, calm, and set the perfect mood for an unforgettable vacation. I recommend everyone stay here for at least 2-3 nights; you'll have an unforgettable experience that will make you want to return in the future. Absolutely delighted! Maybe it's because it's only my second time in Japan? Such lovely memories.
