"We checked in around 2 PM and were welcomed by super helpful and friendly counter staff. The check-in process was smooth, easy, and fast. We stayed in the family room which comfortably accommodated 5 adults, and all the basic amenities provided were sufficient for our stay. The WiFi was not the strongest, but still acceptable. The facilities were great. Even though the building is old, it is well maintained and has a charming heritage feel. It was very convenient to have a convenience store, gift shop, reflexology service, and beca service within the hotel area. There is also a Korean restaurant right next to the hotel. The location is very strategic, with walking distance access to the historical attractions around George Town. We also enjoyed the breakfast at the rooftop restaurant on Level 7, which costs around RM28 per person. The food was enjoyable overall. One point for improvement would be the salad, as the vegetables did not seem fresh during our visit. It would also be great if they could add one more type of fruit selection. Overall, we truly enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay here again."

"The room isn't huge, but it was perfect for two people. When I checked in, I asked for a sea-view room, and the view was absolutely stunning. The hotel having a gym and a swimming pool is a huge plus! It's super convenient with a mall next door, and it was so easy to visit all the nearby attractions and try out local food spots – everything was about a 20-minute walk away. Getting to the airport takes about 30 minutes if there's no traffic. I highly recommend this place! There are water dispensers on every floor, which is great for refilling bottles. The bed isn't huge, but it's comfortable enough to sleep on. If I come back to Penang, I'd definitely choose to stay here again."

"Check in was quick and easy. Buffet breakfast has huge selection of food, lots of people waiting on the tables and cleaning up quickly. One recommendation: there were some flies in the yogurt bowl. Might be better to have individually packaged yogurt available instead Pool was clean, chairs have some bird droppings but that’s normal for outside. Get there early to get seats as it fills up fast. The bridge to beach is old and a little steep but it’s safer than crossing heavy traffic Rooms are clean, a little mold in the bathroom. Was surprised there is no exhaust fan in the bathroom. Would help with the steam!"

"New from Ascot group. Took over a UNESO Heritage building where I guess the structure can't be demolished or hack which makes the rooms small. For the price I pay for the garden patio, it is not worth the price. There are many properties surrounding that matches this price. For example G Hotel Kelawi or Prestige Hotel. Location is good no doubt but wanted to emphasise on the car park that is located left side of the building which no access to the rooms directly where you need to walk back out to the lobby to enter your rooms. Lobby main door entrance doesn't have any luggage friendly ramp to push up to the lobby. Something the property needs to consider as well as for wheel chair. Also, I had 2 crickets visiting my room when I was showering. LOL. Overall, the property is new, nice deco and good location. Just few suggestions above for the property to take into consideration."

"The room was comfortable and well-sized, and the extra bed service was very professional. I arrived late, so I emailed ahead of time, and check-in was incredibly smooth. The biggest plus is its proximity to the airport, making it perfect for catching some sleep after a red-eye flight. After my whole trip in Malaysia, I realized this hotel offered one of the best lodging experiences. I really liked the decor. You barely hear any airplane noise at night."

"Our overall experience during this stay was extremely satisfying. The hotel boasts a beautiful environment, facing the sea with stunning views, especially the infinity pool and ocean scenery which are perfect for photos. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, and the bed was very good, allowing us to truly relax. The hotel is ideal for families with children; our little one had a great time. The pool and beach are both very convenient, and you could easily spend the whole day there without getting bored. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and both check-in and check-out were smooth. The breakfast offered a wide variety of choices and tasted good. If you're looking for a relaxing getaway, this is an excellent choice. My only small suggestion is that the pool can get quite crowded during peak season, so I hope they can add more loungers in the future. Overall, I would recommend it to friends and would stay here again."

"I had an excellent stay at G Hotel Gurney in the Executive Suite. The suite was spacious, modern, and beautifully maintained, with a comfortable bed and a great view. It was the perfect place to relax after a day of exploring Penang. The hotel’s location is fantastic, right next to Gurney Plaza and within walking distance of many popular eateries. The staff were professional, friendly, and always willing to assist, making the entire stay even more enjoyable. The Executive Lounge was a great addition, offering a quiet and comfortable space to unwind with complimentary refreshments. Breakfast was also excellent, with a wide selection of local and international dishes. Overall, everything from the room quality to the service exceeded my expectations. I would definitely choose G Hotel Gurney again on my next visit to Penang and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and luxurious stay."

Overall, I had a pleasant stay and a good experience. The staff were all very polite, friendly, and helpful, which made us feel welcome throughout our stay. The hotel itself is a little dated, and some areas could benefit from better maintenance. The tiles underneath the sink were cracked and looked as though they might come loose, which was a bit concerning. There were also some marks and stains around the sink area. They may simply be due to age or water stains, but they gave the bathroom a less clean appearance. One thing that concerned me was the presence of Charlie ants (rove beetles). We noticed them outside the room, and there were also quite a few in the steam room. Although the hotel has placed notices to warn guests about them, they are extremely small and difficult to spot unless you look very carefully. Since contact with them can cause skin irritation, it was a little worrying. Overall, the staff provided excellent service, and we enjoyed our stay. I hope the hotel can improve the maintenance of the facilities and continue taking measures to reduce the presence of Charlie ants, as these improvements would make the experience even better.

We chose The Lone Pine Hotel to celebrate our wedding anniversary. I was worried that arriving too late on the first day would spoil the romantic vibe, but the hotel was incredibly accommodating. They proactively arranged for our cake and gifts to be delivered the next morning, allowing us to enjoy them leisurely – this thoughtful detail was a huge plus. As for the view, we were lucky enough to be upgraded to a sea-view room. The endless blue ocean outside the window offered a superb vista. Even more surprising was that I had only booked breakfast for the first day because we had an early start on the second. Yet, the hotel upgraded our second day's breakfast for free – so incredibly considerate! The food was the major highlight of this trip: I highly recommend the fried chicken at the breakfast buffet; it's crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, usually gone before 11 AM. After 10 AM, there's also an outdoor Welcome Drink by the pool, and the adjacent Barbecue area offers amazing fried kway teow and roti canai. The overall dining atmosphere was very chill. The location is also very convenient, just a few minutes' walk to late-night snack stalls and the beach torch performance. Finally, I must praise the nighttime experience – many might mind the sound of the waves, but I absolutely love falling asleep to them; it's incredibly therapeutic and relaxing. It's basically a place where you can just unwind for a couple of days 🎶. One small suggestion: The hotel could perhaps optimize the color scheme of its lighting. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel to anyone who loves a slow pace and a seaside getaway! 🌊🍗

Our overall experience during this stay was extremely satisfying. The hotel boasts a beautiful environment, facing the sea with stunning views, especially the infinity pool and ocean scenery which are perfect for photos. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, and the bed was very good, allowing us to truly relax. The hotel is ideal for families with children; our little one had a great time. The pool and beach are both very convenient, and you could easily spend the whole day there without getting bored. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and both check-in and check-out were smooth. The breakfast offered a wide variety of choices and tasted good. If you're looking for a relaxing getaway, this is an excellent choice. My only small suggestion is that the pool can get quite crowded during peak season, so I hope they can add more loungers in the future. Overall, I would recommend it to friends and would stay here again.

Our last hotel in Penang was in Batu Ferringhi. The hotel isn't very large, and the room facilities are a bit dated, but the experience was excellent! First, the resort layout is well-designed; despite its size, the areas are cleverly arranged, creating beautiful views at every turn. There are several swimming pools, including two for children with slides and more. Most importantly, there are staff members consistently present at the slides and by the pools to supervise and maintain order, ensuring children can play safely and securely! Breakfast was also great; although there was a queue during peak hours, the food was delicious and offered a wide variety. The beach bar also had good food, and it was lovely to relax there with the lights on at night. The best part is that the hotel has direct access to the beach and the sea! And the path from the hotel to the sea looks absolutely beautiful when lit up at night. We booked a two-story family room with a lovely balcony. The staff service was also excellent. I'm giving it five stars.

This hotel, located on Batu Ferringhi Beach in northern Penang Island, holds the distinction of being Malaysia's first five-star resort, inaugurated by the Prime Minister himself, and has long been renowned. It's astonishing how well the facilities are maintained for a hotel over fifty years old, a testament to its high management standards. The staff are all very enthusiastic and accommodating, almost always fulfilling requests. It's important to distinguish between the two parts of the hotel: the eight-story Garden Wing to the east, which mostly features standard rooms with single balconies, and the five-story Rasa Wing to the west, primarily offering suites with double balconies. The check-in desks for both sections are about a hundred meters apart. Additionally, about 200 meters west of the Rasa Wing is another Shangri-La resort: the four-star Golden Sands. These three hotels share an exclusive stretch of beach to the north, but each has its own swimming pool. Hotel buggies shuttle guests between the properties, and most towel counters by the pools can be used by simply stating your room number. Water sports like parasailing and jet skiing on the beach are completely shared. When using Grab to book a car, pay close attention to specifying the correct lobby for pickup, otherwise, both parties might end up waiting for each other.

Check in was quick and easy. Buffet breakfast has huge selection of food, lots of people waiting on the tables and cleaning up quickly. One recommendation: there were some flies in the yogurt bowl. Might be better to have individually packaged yogurt available instead Pool was clean, chairs have some bird droppings but that’s normal for outside. Get there early to get seats as it fills up fast. The bridge to beach is old and a little steep but it’s safer than crossing heavy traffic Rooms are clean, a little mold in the bathroom. Was surprised there is no exhaust fan in the bathroom. Would help with the steam!

I had an excellent stay at G Hotel Gurney in the Executive Suite. The suite was spacious, modern, and beautifully maintained, with a comfortable bed and a great view. It was the perfect place to relax after a day of exploring Penang. The hotel’s location is fantastic, right next to Gurney Plaza and within walking distance of many popular eateries. The staff were professional, friendly, and always willing to assist, making the entire stay even more enjoyable. The Executive Lounge was a great addition, offering a quiet and comfortable space to unwind with complimentary refreshments. Breakfast was also excellent, with a wide selection of local and international dishes. Overall, everything from the room quality to the service exceeded my expectations. I would definitely choose G Hotel Gurney again on my next visit to Penang and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and luxurious stay.

I had the lowest expectations for this hotel since it’s school holiday season, but they completely exceeded them. We got early check-in, a free room upgrade, and even an anniversary room decoration, live bands every night. I love it here! Also they have plenty activities for your little ones too!

The room isn't huge, but it was perfect for two people. When I checked in, I asked for a sea-view room, and the view was absolutely stunning. The hotel having a gym and a swimming pool is a huge plus! It's super convenient with a mall next door, and it was so easy to visit all the nearby attractions and try out local food spots – everything was about a 20-minute walk away. Getting to the airport takes about 30 minutes if there's no traffic. I highly recommend this place! There are water dispensers on every floor, which is great for refilling bottles. The bed isn't huge, but it's comfortable enough to sleep on. If I come back to Penang, I'd definitely choose to stay here again.

Despite being in a foreign land, your timely and thoughtful assistance was incredibly valuable, and I'm truly grateful. Secondly, and I say this objectively and without exaggeration, this is hands down one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in, if not *the* best. Words can barely describe it – from the ambiance to the hotel itself, and the impeccable service, everything was flawless. You could call it a first-class sea-view park, a luxurious villa, or even a museum...
