"I have been visiting Tanjong Jara Resort for 10 years, and I will always love it here! The beautiful beach and authentic kampung Melayu style make it a timeless getaway. However, a decade later, there are a few noticeable changes and areas that could use an update. What I Loved The Vibe & Beach: The traditional village architecture is still stunning, and the beach is just as great as ever. Turtle Sanctuary: This is a fantastic new addition to the resort and a definite highlight of the stay. Spa Service: The massage service remains excellent and highly recommended. What Has Changed (The Downsides) Missed Traditions: The Saturday Suci Murni activities have been scaled back. I really missed the monkey picking coconuts and the delicious cucur udang that used to be a staple of the experience. Spa Perks: They no longer provide the free sampin Melayu after a massage like they used to in the past. Aging Facilities: The property is starting to show its age and is definitely in need of some refurbishment to bring it back to its prime. Dining & Tips While I still enjoy the dining experience, the menu hasn't changed at all in 10 years, and the food quality could definitely be improved to match the resort's standard. Pro Tip: Make sure to bring mosquito patches with you! Despite a few cutbacks and the need for a refresh, the charm, excellent service, and beautiful surroundings will always keep me coming back. And the spa is the best in Malaysia still ^^. soaking in milk bath with flower is awesome but the ants hahaha.. but worth every single cents"

"Honestly, the hotel is a bit rundown. It's not the resort concept you'd expect. The room felt old; a quick fix-up, tightening some screws and boards, would make a big difference... but hey, at least the bed is comfortable. Everything felt very basic. It would have been a bad stay, but the location makes up for everything. It's the best beach in the area, with turtles just a few meters from the shore and blacktip sharks close to the beach. You can also spot stingrays and juvenile Napoleon wrasses. I highly recommend taking the excursions offered at the hotel's dive club. If you don't do those, you can also see coral past the harbor at Coral View beach. The hotel is quiet, no noise at all. Don't expect any kind of atmosphere. If you're looking for a party, this isn't for you, but if you're seeking tranquility, this is your place. Good service from the staff."

The room was very comfortable and the facilities are of high quality. Special mention to the staff: everyone was very welcoming, smiling, available, and professional. The service was excellent from start to finish. We truly enjoyed our stay and would happily return. I highly recommend this hotel for a stay in the Perhentian Islands."

"The hotel having a lounge at Terengganu Airport is a huge plus! Upon arrival, the lounge staff were incredibly helpful and quickly arranged our transfer to the jetty. Once we reached the island and checked in, everything was meticulously organized, with staff collaborating efficiently to manage all our bookings. Saiful, the restaurant manager, thoughtfully added me on WeChat to arrange our themed dinner, which was a very nice touch – thumbs up! Our customer relations manager, Hamdan, followed up throughout our stay, assisting with activity arrangements, answering all our questions, and checking in daily to see how we were doing, making us feel right at home – another thumbs up! Finally, I have to mention the fantastic location of The Taaras! The private beach view from our cliff suite was absolutely stunning! The room was spacious and well-laid out; our whole family loved it! With all the facilities at the hotel, there's no chance of getting bored. A tip for future visitors: the hotel has its own private airstrip on the island. Next time we come to Redang, we can fly directly from Kuala Lumpur with Taaras Air, saving us the hassle of the boat journey! All in all, The Taaras is the top choice for Redang Island!"

"Stayed for 3 nights. Overall, this place has so much potential. The kampung ambience is so peaceful and inviting. The old Istana (palace) transformed into rooms gave the kampung lifestyle feels. Just walking distance to the beach and the scenery of the whole resort is tranquil. Nevertheless, suggest to clean and restore the pond around the resort. Re-do the whole landscaping around the resort and plant all the local flowers, fruit trees and herbal plants. And to install more solar lights. With this new facelift of the whole sorroundings, will surely invite repeating guests. Shoutout to the friendly staffs too. (P/S: suggests to invest on bed bug spray for each room too)"

"Honestly, choosing Alunan Resort was one of the best decisions I made for this trip! 🥹❤️ From the moment we arrived, the customer service was amazing. Everyone there was so sweet, warm, welcoming and genuinely kind. You could really feel that the staff cared about their guests and wanted everyone to have a good experience. One thing that really touched me was how they treated my mom. She’s 50 and was SO excited to snorkel, but she was also quite afraid of swimming in the ocean. The staff were incredibly patient with her. They literally got her a float/tube to hold onto and even brought her out to see the turtle so she could enjoy the experience without feeling too scared. 🥹❤️ At one point, my mom even vomited, and the staff were so kind and immediately helped her without making her feel embarrassed or uncomfortable. That level of care and kindness really meant a lot to me. They made sure she was okay and looked after her so well. I’ll genuinely remember that. And the FOOD!!! 🤤 Everything was so good, but I especially miss the tiramisu and brownies, they were seriously SO GOOD! 😭❤️ The whole stay was beautiful, relaxing and memorable. Between the amazing hospitality, the lovely people, the food and how well they took care of my mom, I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Definitely one of the best decisions ever 🏝️🥹❤️ I would absolutely come back again and highly recommend Alunan Resort to anyone visiting Perhentian!"

"Our time at Summerbay Resort was really pleasant. Very friendly staff and very good service. The deluxe pool view room was clean and had good amenities and a nice view of the pool. At no point did it feel like this trip was not worth it. The beach in front of the hotel is wel maintained with plenty of baby black tip reef sharks to see while snorkeling. The included breakfast was good, with good food and plenty of seating. For dinner though I would advise to go to Seaview cafe. The dinners and the quality of the food are amazing. Special shoutout to chef Chris for cooking delicious dinners 10/10! We're writing this review as European guest. Communicating in English was not a hassle at all."

Excellent stay at the Perhentian Marriott Resort & Spa! The hotel is beautiful, very clean, and perfectly maintained. The setting is exceptional, with stunning beaches and a truly exotic atmosphere. The room was very comfortable and the facilities are of high quality. Special mention to the staff: everyone was very welcoming, smiling, available, and professional. The service was excellent from start to finish. We truly enjoyed our stay and would happily return. I highly recommend this hotel for a stay in the Perhentian Islands.

It would have been a bad stay, but the location makes up for everything. It's the best beach in the area, with turtles just a few meters from the shore and blacktip sharks close to the beach. You can also spot stingrays and juvenile Napoleon wrasses. I highly recommend taking the excursions offered at the hotel's dive club. If you don't do those, you can also see coral past the harbor at Coral View beach. The hotel is quiet, no noise at all. Don't expect any kind of atmosphere. If you're looking for a party, this isn't for you, but if you're seeking tranquility, this is your place. Good service from the staff.

I have been visiting Tanjong Jara Resort for 10 years, and I will always love it here! The beautiful beach and authentic kampung Melayu style make it a timeless getaway. However, a decade later, there are a few noticeable changes and areas that could use an update. What I Loved The Vibe & Beach: The traditional village architecture is still stunning, and the beach is just as great as ever. Turtle Sanctuary: This is a fantastic new addition to the resort and a definite highlight of the stay. Spa Service: The massage service remains excellent and highly recommended. What Has Changed (The Downsides) Missed Traditions: The Saturday Suci Murni activities have been scaled back. I really missed the monkey picking coconuts and the delicious cucur udang that used to be a staple of the experience. Spa Perks: They no longer provide the free sampin Melayu after a massage like they used to in the past. Aging Facilities: The property is starting to show its age and is definitely in need of some refurbishment to bring it back to its prime. Dining & Tips While I still enjoy the dining experience, the menu hasn't changed at all in 10 years, and the food quality could definitely be improved to match the resort's standard. Pro Tip: Make sure to bring mosquito patches with you! Despite a few cutbacks and the need for a refresh, the charm, excellent service, and beautiful surroundings will always keep me coming back. And the spa is the best in Malaysia still ^^. soaking in milk bath with flower is awesome but the ants hahaha.. but worth every single cents

The hotel having a lounge at Terengganu Airport is a huge plus! Upon arrival, the lounge staff were incredibly helpful and quickly arranged our transfer to the jetty. Once we reached the island and checked in, everything was meticulously organized, with staff collaborating efficiently to manage all our bookings. Saiful, the restaurant manager, thoughtfully added me on WeChat to arrange our themed dinner, which was a very nice touch – thumbs up! Our customer relations manager, Hamdan, followed up throughout our stay, assisting with activity arrangements, answering all our questions, and checking in daily to see how we were doing, making us feel right at home – another thumbs up! Finally, I have to mention the fantastic location of The Taaras! The private beach view from our cliff suite was absolutely stunning! The room was spacious and well-laid out; our whole family loved it! With all the facilities at the hotel, there's no chance of getting bored. A tip for future visitors: the hotel has its own private airstrip on the island. Next time we come to Redang, we can fly directly from Kuala Lumpur with Taaras Air, saving us the hassle of the boat journey! All in all, The Taaras is the top choice for Redang Island!

Honestly, choosing Alunan Resort was one of the best decisions I made for this trip! 🥹❤️ From the moment we arrived, the customer service was amazing. Everyone there was so sweet, warm, welcoming and genuinely kind. You could really feel that the staff cared about their guests and wanted everyone to have a good experience. One thing that really touched me was how they treated my mom. She’s 50 and was SO excited to snorkel, but she was also quite afraid of swimming in the ocean. The staff were incredibly patient with her. They literally got her a float/tube to hold onto and even brought her out to see the turtle so she could enjoy the experience without feeling too scared. 🥹❤️ At one point, my mom even vomited, and the staff were so kind and immediately helped her without making her feel embarrassed or uncomfortable. That level of care and kindness really meant a lot to me. They made sure she was okay and looked after her so well. I’ll genuinely remember that. And the FOOD!!! 🤤 Everything was so good, but I especially miss the tiramisu and brownies, they were seriously SO GOOD! 😭❤️ The whole stay was beautiful, relaxing and memorable. Between the amazing hospitality, the lovely people, the food and how well they took care of my mom, I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Definitely one of the best decisions ever 🏝️🥹❤️ I would absolutely come back again and highly recommend Alunan Resort to anyone visiting Perhentian!

Our time at Summerbay Resort was really pleasant. Very friendly staff and very good service. The deluxe pool view room was clean and had good amenities and a nice view of the pool. At no point did it feel like this trip was not worth it. The beach in front of the hotel is wel maintained with plenty of baby black tip reef sharks to see while snorkeling. The included breakfast was good, with good food and plenty of seating. For dinner though I would advise to go to Seaview cafe. The dinners and the quality of the food are amazing. Special shoutout to chef Chris for cooking delicious dinners 10/10! We're writing this review as European guest. Communicating in English was not a hassle at all.

Stayed for 3 nights. Overall, this place has so much potential. The kampung ambience is so peaceful and inviting. The old Istana (palace) transformed into rooms gave the kampung lifestyle feels. Just walking distance to the beach and the scenery of the whole resort is tranquil. Nevertheless, suggest to clean and restore the pond around the resort. Re-do the whole landscaping around the resort and plant all the local flowers, fruit trees and herbal plants. And to install more solar lights. With this new facelift of the whole sorroundings, will surely invite repeating guests. Shoutout to the friendly staffs too. (P/S: suggests to invest on bed bug spray for each room too)
