The hotel was very clean and the hospitality was excellent. It was a shame that it rained heavily on our first day, but perhaps because of that, we were able to check in earlier than expected, which allowed us to relax comfortably. The complimentary ice cream and ramen were a pleasant surprise. The staff were all very attentive and polite, making for a truly enjoyable holiday. I would definitely love to visit again. Thank you!

This minshuku is located quite near Miyanoura port, the owners are super nice and they have a public bath that is perfect after a trekking day in Yakushima.

Richmond hotel was located opposite a big department store, with easy access to bus and trams. A combini is just opposite the hotel. They have a wider range of personal amenities to pick at the lobby. They have 3 machines to handle checkout, exchange currency (e.g. 1000¥ to 100¥ coins for laundry machines on 6th floor, or break 10,000¥ to smaller notes). The machines also accept your hotel parking charges. When it was raining, hotel provided full size umbrellas for use, without deposit or giving room numbers, which is very convenient. It has a car park with limited lots, so if you can secure one ,it will be very easy to unload and load your bags. Costs 2400¥ for 2 nights of parking. Main place for food is closer to Tenmonkan area, which is walkable.

Good points: - Right in front of the Ohara-machi bus stop. - A-Coop (supermarket up to 1900) is within walking distance, making shopping convenient. There's a shared microwave in the inn, so you can buy food at the supermarket and eat it there. There's also a refrigerator in the room. - There's a large public bath and a sauna. - Shiratani Unsuikyo is a 30-minute bus ride away. - The hotel staff are friendly. Not-so-good points: - The noise from the plumbing in a nearby room was surprisingly loud, making it difficult to sleep. - The rental equipment is not well maintained. The equipment itself is old. While it seems to be an established inn and shows its age in many ways, I think the location is excellent. It might be good to leverage its age and perhaps even specialize in mountain-related features. However, the facilities need to be maintained.

The onsen was a real highlight, beautifully maintained and deeply relaxing, and the view from my room was absolutely spectacular. Although it was whale season while I was there, I did not manage to see any whales this time, but that simply gives me another reason to come back. If there is one small area for improvement, it would be the dining experience. While the food was perfectly fine, it felt rather ordinary compared with the overall quality and standard of the hotel. A more varied and distinctive selection, particularly at the buffet, would better match the hotel’s otherwise excellent experience. Overall, a truly lovely stay, and one I would happily recommend.

We stayed here on the last day of our honeymoon! We weren't sure about the shuttle service, so we called after arriving on Yoron Island, and they came to pick us up at Yoron Airport just 15 minutes later! 🙇‍♀️ Our room was on the first floor, and the two beds were spacious and very comfortable. 😌 There were a lot of stains on the sofa, but that was acceptable. We booked a plan without meals, but we called the hotel later and they made a reservation for us at the Western-style restaurant for dinner! The restaurant was fully booked online, but they adjusted the time and made a reservation for us at 7 PM. Since our dates were approaching and reservations at restaurants near the hotel were also full, this was a huge help! The only option offered was a 5000 yen course, but the portion size was just right, and the food, made with local ingredients, was delicious! We brought our own champagne for 5000 yen. They provided glasses and a cooler, and we served ourselves! They offer luggage storage after check-out, and it seems there's a space on the premises where you can rent cars or electric bicycles! Renting a car costs 6500 yen for 3 hours, which is a bit more expensive than other places, but you can pick it up right from the hotel, and there seems to be a free shuttle bus for boat and flight times, so I thought it might be a good idea to rent one to coincide with those! The scenery was amazing, and we were even able to go down to the beach. The sand was sparkling and soft, and we could even dip our feet in the sea and play. The view from the open-air bath was also fantastic, the gentle breeze felt wonderful, and we were able to see the first star of the night.

The location is great, right in front of the tram stop, and there are many good restaurants nearby. The public bath is also a nice touch for unwinding after a long day. I booked a twin room, and as expected for a Japanese business hotel, it was small. I had to open my suitcase near the entrance as there wasn't a separate luggage rack. On the second floor, there's a reception area where you can enjoy unlimited coffee and other drinks. While the amenities aren't extensive, they are well-stocked at the reception. There's also a gym, and the breakfast restaurant offers a fantastic view, especially for catching the sunrise over Sakurajima in the morning.

This is a very nice hotel close to Kagoshimachuo station. It is convenient location for taking the Shinkansen and other trains. It is also a short walk or tram journey into Tenmonkan or the port area The room is a good size clean and you can choose a room with a magnificent view of Sakurajima Cleaning is done every two days but you can leave a sticker on your door and they will clean if you wish on off days The bathroom is the biggest I have seen in Japan very modern and nice to use Staff are very friendly and helpful. If I would visit Kagoshima again I would like to stay here
