I come to Tokyo several times a year, staying a fortnight or more each time. This time I spent seven nights at The Capitol Hotel Tokyu. The room faced Hie Shrine. Through the floor-to-ceiling windows I could see the shrine's copper roof and half of Tokyo's skyline. The décor was modern without excess; the layout flowed easily, Bose speakers hidden in the walls, another set in the bathroom ceiling, connected by a 3.5mm jack. The curtains were motorized, though you hardly needed to close them. The turndown service. I would leave in the evening and return late to find the room changed: only the hallway light and bedside lamp left on, a bottle of water and a glass on the nightstand, two chocolates beside them. The evening tea and teacup, previously stored in the cabinet, had been moved next to the coffee machine. These changes were so slight you had to think back carefully to confirm they had happened at all. The temperature and humidity had been adjusted. As if the room itself remembered your habits. Room service fell short of the ryokan in Hakone or Lake Toya, but well above the ordinary hotel. Each day I made two or three cups of complimentary coffee, played music, read, wrote. In seven days I finished three books. The research ahead began to take shape. There were drawbacks. No washing machine, but a decent laundromat ten minutes' walk away—a chance to wander the streets of Akasaka. The room provided HDMI and ethernet ports but no cables; for those who came to rest, perhaps a mercy. The minibar fridge was mostly occupied by drinks for purchase, same as the Imperial, though there was still room for my sparkling water. The day I left it was half past five and fully dark. I could barely make out the faces of the bellhop and the taxi driver. Together they loaded my luggage into the boot. I wished the bellhop a happy new year in Japanese and told her I liked her hat. She smiled and returned the greeting. As the taxi pulled out of the underground drive, I thought of the inns Kawabata once wrote about: what had to be sought in the mountains of snow country can now be reached by elevator from the B2 exit of a metro station. I have watched the Shinagawa Prince Hotel loosen quietly over time, slip a little. That kind of decline is rarely one great error. It begins the day someone forgets to leave a glass of water, neglects to move a packet of tea, omits a newspaper. As for The Capitol Hotel Tokyu: in Japanese, what I experienced over these seven days is called ちょうどいい.

This is my fifth time staying at a Mitsui Garden Hotel, and this particular one is absolutely, incredibly fantastic. My review today will be long and detailed, and I hope it helps those new to Tokyo who are unsure about which hotel to choose. Before I begin, I must express my gratitude to a hotel employee named Shin. On the evening of July 30th, the night I arrived in Tokyo, I suddenly experienced kidney stones. At midnight, when the pain became unbearable, Mr. Shin assisted me by calling an ambulance and diligently inquiring about my condition. He even accompanied me in the ambulance, helping to communicate between myself and the paramedics. He spent almost an hour and a half of his time during this stifling early morning, continuously offering comfort without any hint of impatience. I am truly grateful to him; otherwise, I might have faced significant trouble. Of course, I believe other staff members would have been equally helpful. The day after I recovered, other staff at the front desk (staff-san) also inquired about my well-being, which speaks volumes about the high caliber of this hotel's employees. Their professionalism is further evident in their kind and polite demeanor every time our eyes meet, their patience while waiting for the elevator, not to mention their warmth during check-in and check-out. Returning to the hotel itself, it's located in Nihonbashi and Muromachi, next to Mitsukoshi Department Store. The location is very easy to find; almost all taxi drivers know it. For public transport, there's the Ginza Line and Kanda Subway Station (Hanzomon Line), making it very convenient whether you're coming from Tokyo Station or the airport. Getting to Asakusa and Ginza is even easier. Regarding service, the examples above already highlight how excellent it is, so I won't belabor the point. In short, it's exceptional. In terms of facilities, Mitsui Garden Hotels generally offer a consistent standard. The bathroom and bedroom are separated by a screen that can be manually opened or closed, allowing for a wet/dry division. The room size is ample for movement; for Tokyo, where space is at a premium, the room is not small (of course, if you plan to play a World Cup match inside, that's another story!). The hotel's front desk is on the 9th floor, offering a broad view. Coupled with a subtle, non-overpowering fragrance, it exudes a strong sense of sophistication. Before entering the guest room area, you need to use your room key to access the first door, which provides a good sense of security. The carpets in the room area are substantial, contributing to excellent soundproofing. Vending machines and ice machines are available on certain floors, which is also a characteristic feature of Mitsui Garden Hotels. For room cleaning, you choose your preference using a magnetic sticker on the door. Based on their eco-cleaning philosophy, I opted for one cleaning midway through my 4-night, 5-day stay, just to have my towels changed. Breakfast is my only regret. Because my doctor advised me to slightly delay my first meal each day, I wasn't able to experience it during my stay. I hope to try it next time, hahaha. I don't know if this counts as over-expressing myself, but I truly, truly love this hotel. So much so that before I left, I spent some time making sure it looked almost the same as when I first arrived. I'm a hotel member, but I still book through the Trip.com app each time because it allows more people to learn about the hotel through reviews on the platform. That's why I write very detailed accounts of my true experiences and feelings every time I stay at a hotel, hoping they can be helpful to others.

Park Hotel Tokyo truly exceeded every expectation I had — and then some. I spent 9 unforgettable nights here, and I can confidently say this is one of the best hotel experiences I’ve ever had. Without a second thought, I will be coming back on my next trip to Tokyo. From the very first moment, the level of service was exceptional. Every interaction with the staff felt warm, genuine, and thoughtful — they truly go above and beyond to make your stay comfortable and memorable. The attention to detail is simply outstanding. The views deserve a special mention. Even though my room didn’t face Tokyo Tower, the scenery was absolutely breathtaking at all times of the day — morning, afternoon, and night. I honestly found myself wanting to capture every moment on camera. And for those who dream of seeing Tokyo Tower — it is beautifully visible right from the lobby, creating a stunning and iconic atmosphere. Breakfasts were delicious and consistently satisfying. While the selection didn’t change much day to day, it didn’t matter at all — I found my perfect morning set and looked forward to it every single day. Housekeeping is incredibly flexible, which I really appreciated. You can choose a full cleaning service or opt for an eco-friendly option where towels are refreshed and water is replenished without a full clean — a great touch depending on your needs. Another very convenient feature is the laundry service. The hotel offers both professional laundry and self-service washing machines (located on 27th and 28th floors). I personally used the coin-operated machines, and everything worked perfectly — washing and drying were quick and efficient. The location is simply unbeatable. It’s incredibly well-connected — whether you prefer JR lines, metro, or other transport options, everything is easily accessible. Getting anywhere in Tokyo was smooth and stress-free. This was actually my first time in Japan, and before the trip I was worried I wouldn’t understand the transport system and would rely on taxis. In reality, I figured it out almost immediately — and thanks to the hotel’s perfect location, I didn’t take a taxi even once. One of the most unique aspects of this hotel is that it’s also an art hotel — almost like a museum. There are fascinating artworks and exhibitions throughout the floors and common areas. If you’re into art, you can even explore guided experiences. Even without that, just walking around and discovering the pieces was a beautiful experience in itself. If I could give this hotel 100 stars, I absolutely would. Thank you to the entire team for making my stay in Tokyo so special. This hotel is in a very convenient location near Senso-ji Temple. The room comfortably accommodates three people and has a separate bathroom and toilet, which is very practical. There is also enough space to open three large suitcases at the same time. The hotel is about a 15-minute walk from Asakusa Station. Several convenience stores, including 7-Eleven and Lawson, are located nearby. There are also many shopping options within a 10-minute walk, such as Don Quijote (Donki), Uniqlo, and other stores.

Mid-August 2026. I wonder if it's because it rained for two or three days while we were in Tokyo, but why did no one mention how incredibly humid the room was? The duvet was damp and smelly at night, making it really uncomfortable to sleep under. Maybe the air conditioning was set incorrectly? The hotel had it on auto (heating 25 degrees Celsius), which we found too hot. We switched it to cooling 24 degrees, and then discovered the room was very damp, so we changed it to dehumidify at 24.5 degrees. There was a device on the floor that I couldn't tell if it was an air purifier, humidifier, or dehumidifier. Location: Excellent. It takes a quick 3-minute walk to the subway. There's a 24-hour supermarket to the left when you exit Shiomi Station. A FamilyMart convenience store is right downstairs from the hotel. Room: The size is probably quite good for Tokyo, aside from the excessive humidity I mentioned. Everything else, like the bedding, towels, and bathtub, was very satisfactory. Though I didn't use the bathtub once, haha; the large public bath on the second floor was more convenient. So, a slightly larger room without a bathtub would be more practical. Breakfast: Not a huge variety, but the quality was excellent. We thought it was quite good, but it would be even better if they could change up the options slightly. After four days, it did get a bit repetitive~ Public Bath: The absolute best part was the large public bath on the second floor. It was spacious and very comfortable. Overall, I was still very satisfied. I'll just avoid staying in Tokyo during the August rainy season in the future if all hotels are this humid~

I was very satisfied and stayed here again on my trip to Tokyo. The breakfast was delicious, the transportation was very convenient, the staff service was excellent, and I slept comfortably. Suidobashi Station is right outside, and Tokyo Dome is behind it, which is great for shopping. It's really convenient to go anywhere from here. I highly recommend staying here when you come to Tokyo.

The hotel's location is excellent, making getting around very convenient, and it's not far from Shinjuku Station. The room was spacious and clean, well-equipped, with comfortable bedding, and good soundproofing. The front desk service was warm and professional, making both check-in and check-out smooth. There are plenty of dining and shopping options nearby. Overall, I had a very satisfying experience and would consider staying here again on my next trip to Tokyo.

When I booked online for the room, I stated very clearly no corner room, but when I discovered my room is nearly at the end, was a bit not happy. The location is 7 mins walk to suidoboshi station. But it's not very near to places like shibuya or Tokyo, a bit disappointed the single room is a bit small, but the milk lotion, liquid cleanser, face wash packet they provided is gd. A bit surprised they don't provide spoon but stirrer. The room is clean, and there is lawson at 2nd floor and laundry service at 7th level. I have taken video of the room but can't attach here, wasted. Near the suidoboshi station are some eateries. They provide one water bottle daily and clean the room daily which is good. If you preferred a clean room, this hotel is apt for u. The hotel provided airport limousine bus to airport but not vice versa

Comfortable one-night stay at Shinjuku Granbell Hotel — great location and clean, modern rooms. One useful tip for anyone driving: there’s parking available nearby that you can either reserve in advance for around ¥2,000 per night, or just drive in without a reservation and pay by the hour (rates around ¥1,700 for 8 hours at the lot near the hotel). Made it really convenient for our road trip stop before heading north. Would recommend for travelers exploring Shinjuku by car.

Location not the best unless you don’t mind walking 10-15 mins. Same floor with all dorms - female, male, mixed and toilet is not control by card, anyone can go in. Think about it at midnight bathing to worry a drunker to come in (it’s Shibuya, come on. Famous for drinking) Many local drinking bars outside the road on the way to hostel. This is good. Have lift for the rooms but no lift outside so I have to carry my luggage to few stairs to reach reception (after 15 mins walking from Shibuya station green line) omg I don’t mind to stay again if I only have a backpack.
